• I think at this point they have effectively made a decision. Wander has now been formally charged with abuse and trafficking in the DR, he's now on the restricted list so he's not getting paid and, frankly, even if he's not convicted, I don't think the stain will ever go away enough where you see him playing ball. Maybe like Bauer he plays in Korea or something.

• gotcha, thanks for the explanation. Like I said, it's definitely a learning curve. I "understand" what you said, but to be able to decide what players to start and draft based on those kinds of metrics is quite a another thing all together. I mean, I think I'm doing pretty well for going into it pretty blind, but it feels like learning Chinese. You can learn what the letters are, but the "way" it is said can completely change the meaning.

• For example, if two players single to start an inning, they’ve both increased the chances their team scores a run. However, in traditional fantasy baseball, if one player is on the Dodgers and Shohei hits a home run and the guy who singled scores, you get rewarded (with a run) even tho your guy didn’t add value beyond the single, he just scored bc Shohei is awesome.

• Yes, we follow the standard scoring for Ottoneu. The points are the Fangraphs linear weight estimates for the value of that activity - it’s essentially what goes into many of the advanced statistics. Fangraphs points try to get to the true value a player creates based on their play, rather than outcomes that are dependent on outside factors (like Wins for a pitcher or Runs for a batter).

• I'm curious, as someone new to Otteneu, are the rules and scoring in our league "standard" Otteneu, or are they customized for this league. There's a lot of things about it that are so foreign to me (no runs, RBI, batting average in hitting stats; no ERA, wins, or QS in pitching). Admittedly, this is also my first points league, so maybe points leagues are like this? It almost feels like I'm playing a completely different game than I have for the last decade.
