I would agree with that.
-
If the season end up getting cut short, I don't think there should be arbitration for next season.
-
I think the average annual was close but Dodgers gave him a few more years

Hard to compete with that Dodgers offer. Sox were nowhere near that deal, were they?
-
exVP - I don't know about a master class...what I do know is that my son and I have to change the name of the team after today's news

Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm taking Betts to Beantown's master class, "The Power of Persuasion".
-
Yeah. Seemed odd to me like the system would force you to give something to get something. But I guess in this salary cap format having another team take on 100% of one of your player salaries is effectively giving you cash toward the cap so that is a form of value. If I ever trade Yeli for nada, please veto it and throw a beer at my head to wake me up ha๐ha
-
OK, so what you are gaining is cap space. Unconventional, but that explanation makes sense.
-
I assumed that was the deal with the Pham trade too.
-
I no longer need Murphy. If I drop him I'm on the hook for $4. If I trade him I'm in the hook for nothing.

Could someone explain to me the Tom Murphy for nothing trade? I mean, I know this isn't like giving away Mike Trout or Mookie Betts, but it still seems a little weird to me.
-
You can still offer him something...
-
Good trade Finch. I was about to offer him something.
-
I enjoyed the draft last night. Here is to a good season!

Hi everyone I'm proxying for coastal emipre and may need 5-10 minutes if y'all don't object. Daughter is fighting bedtime...

I hope everything is ok. Good luck.

Sorry guys, something came up tonight and I might not be able to make the draft. I can pick up the scraps off the waiver wire if I cant make it.
-
Should we schedule that on the site? Heh. Still showing as TBD.
-
Not that I think anyone is really confused by this, but we're in Daylight Savings Time, so the draft will be this Friday at 9:30 PM EDT. I'm hoping to secure a wireless Hotspot so I can jump in too, but that remains to be seen. I will set Abandoned Defending Champs up as a co-Commissioner for the draft so that he can do things like unlock your team if you forget/fail to nominate a player when it's your turn.
-
1830 Pacific. I'll be there with the proverbial bells.
-
Yes, draft is 9.30p EST. I'm in.
-
I am under the impression that the draft is this Friday at 9:30.

Are we on for Friday @ 930? I need to work on finding someone to cover for me.

9:30 Friday is good for me too

I would also be willing to enter data.
-
Seriously, XVP. And I'd help. FA is that bad. I think we have the makings of a regular draft though. I'm hopeful anyhow.
-
I could take a shot at loading the player pool into Couch Managers, if it comes to that. Anything to avoid FA bidding.
-
A slow auction would be a much better choice should we go that route. We could use a site like Couch Managers. The downside to that option is that, since we are an established league, there is some data entry necessary to get us to a proper starting point.
-
Next Friday at 930 PM Eastern easily looks the most doable since the Commish is so generously willing to fall on his sword.
I would caution against the FA bid process as it is virtually impossible to team buils via blind bids on multiple players simultaneously. In essence, it's hard know what you can or cannot afford to bid for Player A while you wait to see if you had the winning bid on Player B. And if you lost Player B, to reallocate your resources to player A in a timely fashion.
-
Sounds good. I would propose that if at least 9-10 can make that schedule to go with it. If not, open it up and just run the free agent bid process. Only two weeks left to go.
-
That's very considerate of you. Thank you. Sounds like a reasonable plan.

If everyone else can make next Friday at 9:30, I suggest we do it. I have a mostly complete team as it is, and I'd rather do what's best for the league than just what's best for me. I will need someone else to be an acting commissioner during the draft so you can do things like unlock teams who forget to nominate a player for auction. Maybe I'll be able to sneak in near the end if I'm lucky...
-
Perhaps we have to suck it up and do waiver wire auctions.

Here I thought it would be easy to schedule a draft during a pandemic.
-
I can't do mornings. I work 6 days a week.
-
Haha. I'm all in for a 6AM auction, but I can't imagine anyone else being cool with that.
-
That might be tough for more folks since we seem to span the time zones in The League. 11PM Eastern can work for me as a West Coaster, but 6AM Eastern? Not so much. I imagine the reverse to be true for anyone on the East Coast. Or anyone anywhere working a more common job, hours-wise.
-
Could we start very late, as Sidd Finch suggested, or start very early in the morning on a weekday?
-
I would prefer Sunday evening. Iโll probably be using a proctor.
-
If neither of their schedules can budge, I'd personally lean towards Sunday since we need a commissioner to run the draft. Or go back to the drawing board entirely, but that seems an even less favorable route at this point.
-
So, here's the deal. All 3 nights, 9-11Eastern/6-8Pacific look like the best times.
Fri: No Commish at all and no Coastal early and no Hardwired late.
Sat: No Coastal or Hayden at all and no Hardwired late.
Sun: No Losers and No Coastal early and no Hardwired late
I would contend that Friday or Sunday at 9:30/6:30 are the best times since only one team each night would miss the entirety of the draft. On Friday, it's the Commish and on Sunday, it's the Losers.
-
If it is going to be on a Saturday, can it start at 11 PM at the earliest?
-
Iโm ok with one night on Sat 18-Jul and if we donโt get rosters full then just use the free agent bidding process after that Which all teams can participate in based on remaining salary cap (versus trying to reconvene for a Round 2 of the draft)
-
I would agree with one night.
-
I agree also. One night only for the draft. I just hope it's the 18th. Can't make the 19th at night. This might be selfish of me but I don't want to be in a league that I can't participate in the draft. I'm pretty sure some of you might agree with me on that.
