Hey everyone! One month til our keeper deadline so make your moves if you want to make them!
I'll start talking to So-So Starters about a potential draft date in a few weeks.
-
If anyone is interested in anyone on the block, I'm looking to make deals in the next month!
-
Full disclosure. Donaldson is my last cut. Plan to cut on or around 1/11. If you want him, make me an offer! If you’d rather try and buy him in the auction, have at it!
-
Good morning and welcome to the start of trading season! You are now able to make cuts and trade offers in preparation for next years draft! So get those trade blocks updated and let’s get to it!
-
And with that, we have wrapped up arbitration! You can still make adjustments up until the deadline 11/14 after which trading and roster cuts will open. Thanks everyone!
-
Bohm and No Names, y’all are our last two arbitration teams! Just a few days left!
-
Bohm de Lux, No Names, Syndicate and Winklers Wankers! Y’all are out last 4 left for arbitration! Let’s make sure we get this wrapped up and move in to the off season!
-
Just about two weeks left to finish up those arbitration allocations. Lets get it done!
-
Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to being an active member of the league.

Hey everyone, please welcome David (aka Sixto Pack and Cruz Control), who will be taking over for Balls to the Walls! He's an experienced Ottoneu player but new to the 4x4 format. I'm sure he'll be a great addition to the league!
Also, a reminder to get your arbitration dollars in early so the league has time to make adjustments as necessary, though we still have four weeks.
Happy spending!
-
Hey guys, the owner of Balls to the Wall will not be back next year. We’re looking for one owner to replace him. If anyone has someone looking to join let me or Squirrels know!
-
Happy arbitration day everyone!
-
Just missing confirmation from Balls to the Wall and Yasmani!

Following up guys! Haven’t heard back from anyone. If you’re in or out, either way let me
know
-
And with that, this 1/3rd of a season is a wrap. I know it's not the season we wanted, but it's the on we got. Arbitration begins 10/15 and as always, it is mandatory to participate. So, with that in mind, we need to know who will be back next year! If you are on the fence about 2021 that's fine, just make sure you allocate your arbitration dollars. If you know for a fact you have no intention of returning, let us know so we can get the search for a replacement started.
-
Congratulations to the Champion, and the other trophy winners!

Congrats Juan Soto. You have a crazy good team. Thanks for letting me jump in and participate this year guys. It was fun.
-
Don't forget guys, in order for your pitching stats to count you have to reach a minimum of 460 IP. Otherwise it's all 0's. Looks like almost half the league is projected to miss the cutoff so if that's you, time to make some ground up!

Hey everyone, just a reminder that the trade deadline is just five days away. Get those last minute trades in!
-
Looks like JV is out for the year. Entertaining offers from anyone who wants a 2021 asset since I'll have to shed some salary in the off-season anyway.

I'd just like to bump the GroupMe again: https://groupme.com/join_group/60955612/y2dZN9dz
I posted a link to the Constitution in there that I'm hoping we can ratify this winter.
-
Thanks for setting up the group Dave! I’m in. And the constitution looks good. Thank you for working so hard on getting these clarifications on paper.
-
Hey everyone! I got a lot of responses for both but ultimately got more for groupme. I'm dropping a link to the draft constitution there that Pat and I put together so everyone can review it, we can make tweaks as necessary, and then we can ratify in with any changes in the off-season.
Here's the link for the group chat:

If you have zero interest in the groupme and still want to review to Constitution, send me a message and I'll get you a link.
-
Opening day!! I know this has been the most eventful yet uneventful off season ever but we’re here! Get your lineups set and lets get this sprint started!
-
Hey everyone! I apologize for all the message board postings here lately. The latest rule discussion had me thinking that we should have a more informal group chat for easier discussion in the future as well as bringing us closer as a league. Pat suggested we make a channel through the Ottoneu slack which is an option, but I wanted to see if anyone preferred group me, what's app, discord, etc or if anyone was wholly opposed to the idea. I look forward to your responses!
-
I just lost two starting OFs on the same day.... so if anyone has a depth OF (thinking <$5), hit me up with offers.
-
Secondary reason: change encourages engagement. It may not be the season we want, but it’s the season we’ve got. And the payout for first place is the same either way. Embrace the weird season and make your team the best you can.
-
Primary Reason; to deviate from the written Ottoneu rules on this topic, I would want to see a unanimous decision. We all play under these rules so they should be rules we all agree upon and can operate under. By engaging on the Ottoneu platform, this rule is clearly provided without ambiguity. In fairness for everyone, it is best to not deviate.
-
Love the debate guys, but we’re going to take a bazooka to a problem that may benefit from a rifle here. Arbitration and raises will proceed as usual and as written in the primary Ottoneu rules.
-
You did say "many," I shouldn't have called it a blanket statement. And you're right that I can't assume everything will stay the same, but you can't assume they won't. And thats really my main point: we are trying to make adjustments when we have no idea if or what the problem may be. Again, if the majority wants to make changes, I'll back down, but I see at least 1 other manager in agreement with me.
-
I get that SABRtooth and those guys who get a cup of coffee this year would get the $2 inflation for MLB service. Also, I said many, so it was definitely not intended as a blanket statement by any means. I'm talking about guys who weren't necessarily projected to come up this season, the ones who were set to start this year in AA or below who we can't just assume will still be called up along the same timeline because they're in the middle of their development.
-
I really disagree with the blanket statement that guys will be just as far away from the bigs going into 2021 than they were to start 2020. MLB contracts will be expiring, everyone will be a year older, and injuries (not to mention COVID) will continue to happen. Guys who were projected to get a cup of coffee this year and come up next year will almost definitely still get a cup of coffee this year and come up next year. The development might be different, but the timelines probably aren't.
-
I think the nuance of not having MiLB raises is the best middle ground because even though they still age, they're not playing any games and many will be just as far from the bigs as they were to enter 2021.
By the way, I'm going to work with Pat to have a league constitution before next season to help with votes like this.
-
Of those two options, I am in the business as usual camp- full increases and arbitration. My other league we are doing where MiLB are NOT getting inflation, but if in the effort of consistency/ease in this league, I'm fine with just normal increases and arbitration.
-
When it comes down to it, if I'm the only dissenting voice, I'll write my about my stance like in the Supreme Court, and accept the decision. No matter what, everyone will be under the same rules, so its going to be fair regardless of the details. I know Juan said it needs to be unanimous, but no hard feelings if we go against my opinion.
-
It's a fair argument to make that we shouldn't do business as usual, but in that regard, I would argue that Arb would be a better way to do things than a flat rate. Not everybody will be advancing at the same rate, so Arb can be that nuanced approach we are trying to figure out. My argument in favor of keeping the flat bump on top of that is because inflation should still be a part of our game, plus it encourages more turnover, which makes things more exciting.
-
I get the points SABRtooth makes, and while I agree on some things, I think a flat inflation rate is sufficient for this offseason. I don't care to drag out a debate here, this was more than I usually do. Ultimately, I don't agree with taking a business-as-usual approach because business has not been usual this season. That being said, I will happily go along with whatever the league agrees to do. I just want baseball back.
-
I always welcome and encourage the debate. Differing opinions breed a stronger and more involved league. The reason for the all or nothing stance stems from a lack of ability to enforce and regulate "off the record" rules more complicated than an all or nothing decision. While I agree this season could benefit from a more nuanced approach, I do not believe the league is well set to implement and regulate this.
-
To address Bohm's point: even though I don't have confidence in a proper season happening, all of those things you mentioned can, will, and have been happening. Players have gotten hurt, players have been traded. That will continue. Breakouts may be tough to see, but they won't be non-existent. Not to mention aging. Time stops for nobody. Things will be different going into next year than they were going into this year, so don't eliminate the mechanism to account for that.
-
I think there's a fair debate to be had about the details of what is being discussed. If Option B is so all-encompassing that all salary adjustments are removed, then I'm definitely against that. To my own detriment, probably. But I just don't think it's the right move.
-
In order to move forward with option B, we must have a unanimous decision as this is a deviation from the Ottoneu rules as published. So if anyone is against option B speak now and we’ll operate under the same raises and arbitration rules as we have the past few years.
-
I think this conversation has outgrown its original intent, so let’s boil it down to two options. A) Move forward with all raises and arbitration as prescribed by Ottoneu or B) Forego all raises and arbitration this season.
-
I understand the purpose, but don't know that passing arb this year hurts the competitive balance considering we'd being doing this round of arb and the 2021 auction based mostly on 2019 numbers. Some of the components that help arb balance competition won't happen in between cycles - breakouts, melt downs, injuries, trades - and without those, what are we trying to balance out? Arb just seems like unnecessary inflation given the situation.
