Congrats Coastal (again).

I’ve been in the league two years and seen two fine pennant races. Props to the Coastal Empire, but empires don’t last forever.
-
A very exciting two-horse race for much of the year, but Coastal raises yet another championship flag. Congrats!!

Big, big congratulations to Coastal on another Dozen Eggheads championship! It’s been an amazing run of success. I thought I had tracked you down this year at last, but, alas that was such a strong finish. Hats off and huzzah to the 2023 champ!
-
It was a dream result from my desperate last-chance stack of pitchers yesterday. If my offense could have contributed a little, it would have made things very interesting. The 250:14 pitching / hitting ratio for my team yesterday must be some kind of lopsided production record.
-
Yikes. Big run from the Begonias with three days to go.

A couple lucky days. I don’t believe you’re out of it for a second. Way too much left.

Two weeks left and a not-exciting one-horse race. Coastal has put the pedal to the metal to avoid a photo finish this year!
-
Then again, if you're not the lead dog, the view never changes. Preliminary congrats to our podium finishers.

15,000 points in and only separated by 7. Always amazes me how close things can get this late in the year!

Bidding wars over Yusei Kikuchi… What a long strange trip it’s been.

This point inflation is getting out of control!

If it’s good enough for Bobby Weir, then it’s good enough for me!

Way to go SBs...even Bobby Weir would be impressed!!

There was just speculation on another board about how possible 300 points in a day was. Wow.
-
Have a day SF! That's gotta be close to a record.
-
At this moment GG is 1 for 41 for the day. I am proud of how bad that is....

I appreciate your caring message Tigres.

Oy - that was an inopportune cut of D. German. Right on the cusp of perfection!

We look forward to a full game report from London Stadium!

Hi,
UK egghead here - on a personal basis, I’m not sure it’s hit the interest levels of Red Sox/Yankees in 2019. Lots of fuss about prices and unsold tickets as well.
But it’s great to have the Cubs and Cards coming over and the sun should be shining ((I’ve got tickets for Friday workout and Sunday game) 😃⚾️
-
I'd be interested in what our U.K. Dozen Eggheader has to report about the Cubs / Cards invasion of London. Is it causing a ripple across the pond?
-
That is quite the fascinating trade!
-
Anecdotally, I also think the pitch clock is affecting pitching. Hard to measure stress and anxiety but in these tight one pitch means everything situations the relief pitchers especially have less time to calm themselves down in between pitches. I realize hitters do too but I think it affects pitchers more. No Fangraphs Stat for this (yet).

How can you not be pedantic about baseball?

Well there you go messing with my in-depth theories with facts.

Per FanGraphs, relievers are a little worse than last year, about the same as 2021, and much better than 2020 and 2019. If I’m guessing, it’s the effects of the ball.
-
RPs kind of suck this year. I wonder if the pitch clock is hurting them since they are usually in high pressure situations where sometimes a little more time between pitches is good.

Happy opening day everyone! With apologies to Honus Wagner, it's time to stop starting out the window and wait for spring and instead start obsessively starting at the live stats page. Good luck to you and your favorite MLB teams in 2023!
-
Yeah, he's on my $$ League. Trying to figure out if I should hold him for the season at $10.
-
I'm shocked Hoskins isn't on Coastal.
-
I totally agree with that about the WBC and injuries. With maybe the exception of Diaz getting hurt from celebrating, all of these injuries could happen during spring training.
-
I actually love the WBC. Players get hurt in spring training, WBC - doesn’t really matter.
-
Hopefully Altuve will be back by May. I'm guessing you're not a big fan of the WBC right now.

What the hell man.

Coastal, I think you may want to drop the rest of your roster before they get hurt
-
And both those injuries happened under rough circumstances.

Alright, it's 3/16 and I just lost a second player for the season.
-
Almost ready to rumble. Kevin's Remmerswaals will be in 'Zona Wed 3/15-Mon 3/20 for boy the younger's baseball tourney. WBC (USA vs. Columbia), spring training (w/ those non WBCers) Halos vs. Brew Crew, maybe Giants-A's (I'm in the central California area, so this is THE rivalry). And more or less AWOC - so I'd love to get some trades going, but won't hit 'em until early next week. CHEERS! Heads up - I'm looking for 2B, OF, quality RP.

A reminder that the Dozen Eggheads draft is tomorrow night at 9pm EDT. See everyone in the draft room!

Empathy meter for the champ 2 of the last 3 years is, well, low :)
