Can we please institute a cap on dollars and players, i.e. my second solution? Also will the one month rule apply to commissioner cuts?

While I'm with @Burn_the_Ships because I complain about everything, I think the counter-argument is that you're not able to pick up players you've dropped for at least one month. Maybe that doesn't apply to commish cuts, but no reason it couldn't be enforced. But I agree, allowing free cuts rewards poor strategy. I'd say one free cut max.

@burntheships. I understand your point of view, but this is to ensure everyone is on the same page and I don't have to unlock a bunch of teams. I am just trying to eliminate frustrations for all parties and a one time pass this early seemed like the most logical way to apply a learning curve. There will be less sympathy/ wiggle room for mistakes etc. going forward.

Second, if for some reason people enjoy being coddled in a pseudo-socialist fantasy league, we cap the number of players to be dropped at 2 and the total dollar amount of players to be dropped at $10 per player. If neither of these options are adopted, I will heavily consider dropping almost all of my players and just buying them back up at better prices. If I do this, the only way for others to compete will be to do the same, and we will basically have another draft again...

I propose the following two solutions. First, we retract this plan. I think this plan is a bad idea, as I have already outlined.

...other bargains that other players drop. I would have over 60 dollars in cap space to play with. I could just drop every single one of my players and then buy up everything, and nobody would be able to stop me.

3. I think there are externalities to this that we haven’t taken into account. The very first thing I thought of when I saw the post was this: I drafted strategically. As a result, I have a lot of cap space left over. If I drop my $41 Jose Fernandez, I can buy him back at a much lower price and still have the financial power to buy up other bargains that other players drop. I would have over 60 dollars in cap space to play with. I could just drop every single one of my players and then buy up.

2. This rewards bad drafting by allowing players to have a second chance and get out of bad contracts for no reason other than “we are new.” Again, I don’t want to point to anyone specific. The value of ottoneu players is always relative. A great player on a bad contract might not be worth as much as an average player on a good contract. This is probably the singular reason why ottoneu was attractive to me. I don’t think we should be giving people second chances because they fucked up th

1. This is a league that was supposed to be for ottoneu rookies. I am an ottoneu rookie. I knew that the format was nuanced and, as a result, I read the rules. The rules are not opaque or otherwise confusing. In fact, on the cap holds for dropping players, it is quite clear. I don’t want to accuse anyone of acting in their own self interest, but this rule was in place at the beginning. I don’t think it is good to reward people who didn’t read the rules.

Thor's Hammers's trade block has been updated!

@Betances I sent you a personal message (actually 2) via your team's page indicating my "cuts". Thanks for seeing this and being proactive with a solution.
-
@strikeforce. Yes, I am allowing you to cut as many as you want this first round, but once you send me your list it will be final for your team. I am just trying to help everyone with the learning curve because the Fangraphs host is much different than anything I have played before.
-
Just to note, the cap hit is 50% rounded up - so you almost never want to cut a $1 player unless you think he'll be picked up (which clears the cap hit). Regarding this free round of cuts, we can cut as many as we want, not just one?

If you would like to cut a player without counting against your cap we will do this one time only for each team. Please let me know who you would like cut and I will manually remove them at no cost.
Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Guise,
Due to the learning curve of this league, I am going to allow one round of cuts for free. Please read the rules because the cap can be confusing and lead to your team being locked. You need to be able to clear the enough cap space so that you can apply a $1 to each of your 40 allocated roster spots. if you cut a player youre responsible for 50% salary of given player unless he is claimed. Yesterday I had to cut Daniel Norris to unlock my team (which i am manualing fixing).

Strike Force. If you want to queue up your players. I can un-pause the draft. I understand what you're saying about the draft, but those two asked to finish there draft yesterday so we allowed them to. Just let me know when you have your players queued so I can open it. this method will be easiest for everyone.
-
I need to finish, but what's with letting teams finish their whole roster at once? Not a big deal, but I would have taken some of those guys, and there's a few teams that have the budget to outbid $1 prices. I guess I don't care if they don't care.

i'm so confused about what time it starts. the listed time is 10 AM "EDT" (which i guess is the commie version of EST). so we are going to pause the draft at 10 AM EST and not resume it until 1PM EST?

I'm pretty sure no one will care if you draft in church. The new pope plays in a football league with some Cardinals from the Vatican.

What about church?

If you can't fix it your could pause the draft right from the start until 10 am pacific

I don't think I'd worry about it too much. Usually not much happens during the first 3 hours of a draft. You'll have plenty of time to catch up.
