I was a bit surprised myself!
-
Some weird Michael Conforto action today. Feel like I’m missing something?
-
See how it plays out. That’s a huge part of the fun in ottoneu. Good luck!
-
this year. By next year Abrams will be about $5 and Castellanos maybe $25. With that extra money, I can get a player like Bregman or Bell in the auction. With the money from Stroman I can get another solid SP (like Clevinger or Flaharty or Luzardo) who all went around Stroman price. Plus I still like Priester and think he will be contributing next year. Pollock fills an OF hole for me at a reasonable price.

I understand the sentiment on the trade and maybe I am not valuing Abrams correctly. My other experience has been in categories and non-Ottoneu points leagues where Abrams will score a lot of points. However, here is my rationale behind the decision. I think Abrams is going to end up putting up numbers similar to Merrifield so about 6 points per game. I am not sure Castellanos quite replicates last year so he is about a 6.5 or slightly more points per game player. I am clearly not competing

On to more important topics like who has a shortstop they good part with at the right price?
-
I was told there would be no math.
-
Castellanos isnt just a rental but a $20 keeper and CJ is a high end prospect with little power so not the best fit for this format. If we are debating valuations then I like the castellanos side personally both for this year and future years. But it’s not a bad faith trade in my book. Somebody thinks CJ is going to be great they wouldn’t be alone. There is a reasonable rationale for the deal. No veto here
-
Yeah in my view we don't really need to make a value judgment on a trade, if there's no foul play it's kosher so all good here.
-
I'm mainly fine with it...
-
I am happy to have the league review the trade and I'll stand by whatever the league wants to do with this trade. I will withhold voting on the trade.
-
Here's my take, as a partner in the trade: Beef & Chedda (BC) values players with high Future Value (FV). CJ Abrams has a FV of 60 according to FanGraphs, meaning he's projected to perform about a standard deviation or two better than the league average player. Collecting prospects with high FV is an oft-used rebuild strategy. Last year, Priester was touted as a having top of the rotation ceiling. He's fallen a bit this year, but still in AA. Pollock has value and fills the OF hole
-
Wouldn't mind some help understanding the Castellanos + Stroman + $20 Trade - am I reading it right? Seems like those are the only worthwhile parts of the trade and they're all going one direction. I know Stroman had 4 rough starts to start his new contract, and maybe the thought is that he'll never recover, but Pollock will?

I'm in a lot of leagues, but none of them have as tight a race as this one - only 400 points separating 1st and 7th. Let's goooo!
-
No is the short answer. Those are MiLB points.
-
Thanks for the help and answers. Additional question, I see the minor league players on my roster accumulating points. Are they eligible to accumulate points in one of the starting positions?

The loan is basically the other person trading you some of their salary cap dollars for this season only
-
Whoever takes the $51 player would be taking on an additional $26 in salary towards the cap. That's where the loan part comes in. The team getting the $25 player could send a $26 loan to make the salaries changing hands a wash.
-
Trade question - If I were to trade a 51$ player for a 25$ player. How do the dollars play out? I assume I get the 25$ value and the other manager then is saddled with the $51? I see the loan part loaning dollars on trades as well. Not
Totally clear on it. Thanks for any tips before I dive into the trade market. And yes, trading away that 51$ player seems high on my radar. I can’t wait until 1/2 season to get points with this squad. Thanks!

Happy Opening Day, everyone, and best of luck this season!!
-
Thirsty dog, you are right. Starting an auction is your way to get new players, and yes, you need to win the auction. $1 is the lowest bid for players who have not been cut so far this season; for cut (and all) players, the bid screen will show the lowest permissible bid. BTW, you must bid on players for which you start auctions. Hope this helps.
-
Morning - on the starting auctions front - I see that as the only avenue to add players at this point? If I start auction, I assume I still must win the bid to add, 1$ min? Cutting Trevor Bauer felt great.

Hey, league, welcome Steve, the new owner of THE GAME. Didn't take long to pick up the abandoned team!
-
Heads up, league: we will need to find a new owner for "THE GAME" since the previous owner had some unexpected family priorities crop up. I'll be posting on the Managers Needed site, etc. Pass the info along to those you think might be interested in joining us. Thanks.
-
We'll start the draft in 1 hour. Please be a little early so we can start on time. If you are going to be late, let me know. It's kinda late but you could get a proxy; if so, again, let me know. Thanks, see you soon.
-
Yes, we are using the Ottoneu software for our draft. Use the "auction draft" page, under the "Auto News Alliance" tab. Let me know if there are any more questions, etc. See you a few minutes before 8 pm edt tonight. Thanks.
-
Are we doing the auction right through the website or are we using a different platform?
-
Reminder: we’ll start the draft tomorrow 3/22 at 8 pm edt. Please come a little early so we can start on time. See you there!
-
Excited for the draft but more excited baseball is back.
-
OK, book it. Draft date: March 22, 8PM EDT. See you then!
-
If any of you know the My Analytics owner, please reach out to him. I'm not getting through. thanks.
-
Save Tuesday, March 22, 8-12 PM EDT for our draft. It's not official - confirming with one more owner. stay tuned.
-

I can do any day if it starts after 8 PM ET, possibly 7:30. Earlier than that gets tricky with kids sports.

Front runner times so far are 5-9 PM EDT on March 21 (Mon), 22 (Tue), and 26 (Sat). 6 votes in. Weigh in so we can set the date! thanks.
-
I'm out of the country from the afternoon 3/27 through the afternoon of 4/5 so I will be completely unavailable. Would love to attend the draft so hopefully something before 3/27 will work!
-
Please complete the doodle calendar, link below, set up for March 19 - April 6. The sooner everyone completes it, the sooner we've got a date. Thanks. So glad we have a labor agreement...

Agree with waiting until we know what's going on before we set up the draft. Also agree with Trash on both counts, unfortunately.
-
Really disappointing the two sides let it get to this. I won't be surprised if we don't see baseball until this summer.
-
Sorry…Mountain Time for me, but that’s in between everyone else, so I’ll figure something out. Later the better for me.
-
Thanks everyone. Unless I hear differently, we have a manageable set of time zones. I also like the idea to wait until we know a start date for the season before setting up the draft. Comments welcome.

Sao Paulo, Brazil (UTC-3, 2 hours ahead of EST), I'm very flexible and can do daytime, late nights, early am, just can't do March 5th and 19th.

Eastern time zone. Later evenings after the kids are asleep work for me best and if that's the case, I can do any night. I also agree to wait until we have an opening day time and maybe a little bit of free agency? I feel like free agency can change some values of players.

Central Time. I'd also like to wait till there's some idea about when/if opening day.
-
Eastern time zone, but I stay up pretty late :)
For that time frame, I should generally be good for almost any day except Thursdays.
-
Eastern time..set a time and Ill make it happen..I would just suggest we wait til we know an opening day..either way they will need 4 weeks of spring training..just my thought ✌🏻
