Cutting McCann (love ya, but too expensive), Hunter, Papelbon, Aramis, and Chipper frees up $79 alone. That helps. Still leaves me with a full squad with the exception of a 2nd catcher.
-
According to my spreadsheet, I can bring back a full team, including 9 reserve players, and still have $18 to spend on an extra catcher just by slashing a couple of dud contracts
-
yeah i thought there was no way konerko would even duplicate what he did last year...i was not correct
-
I remember most of the league saying that Trout at $20 was pretty worthless in 2012
-
re "prospects", I still think there is a disconnect as that term gets applied to wildly different players
-
Lucky has $450 in salary committed this year, you need to get under $400 just to start the season, how is that team coming back?
-
My players get better with age. Just ask my team captain, Paul Konerko...
-
Not that trading has ever been a real obstacle for you.

There aren't a lot of obvious cuts, except McCann, IMHO, but you'll likely need to trade to get younger.

You can bring back your entire roster intact but you have a lot of older guys driving your point production, the roster is not likely to match this year's point total.

Right now the plan is to keep Braun. He's going for $50+ again anyway.
-
I won't have to. Have a complete roster already pretty much, with almost $20 to spare
-
Although I doubt you're keeping Braun or McCann at those prices.

You can bring it back but you won't be able to draft anyone.

Lucky Strikes's trading block has been updated!

Bad news for you guys: I just realized I can bring back my entire roster in 2013, with the exception of some overpriced RP's and a few other duds. Before adding it up I had assumed I'd have to blow it up. Nope.

As long as it?s cheap. If you?re holding Correa and his salary has escalated to like $9, then he?s no longer young and cheap, he?s just young...

My favorite comment, since it kind of applies here already: hernandez17 says: June 12, 2012 at 9:05 am I personally don?t really buy the ?recent draftee? stigma. Young talent is young talent, and in ottoneu you need to go out and get it...

7 teams left in this year's race. Assume at least half (lets say 4) are built to compete again in 2013. Add the 5 bottom teams who are likely to want to go for it in 2013 and that leaves you with 3 teams that might have interest in aquiring prospects.
-
I'll take the deal. Just saying he won't be able to compete with all those prospects...will have to trade them now or in the off season. I thought I could do it too, but hasn't worked. I've had to cash them in to stay in the race.
-
oooh this is fun...Enrico, so are you going to be on a full worst to first in one year deal, or just be top 3 competitive which would still be impressive?
-
FMW, shall we bet on this post: Enrico's rebuild will take longer than one season.
-
So you're like the Braves?
-
I think I've figured out how to be sustainably competitive -- like top-3, top-5 -- but I didn't win last year and doubt I will win this year.

wow on the Correa auction - $9 for a guy on his way to the Gulf Coast league. I didn't really want to carry him for $1 with the likely time it'll take him to reach the majors.

If you take in those considerations, FMW, it all of a sudden isnt a vacuum. Then you would also take into consideration the player prices, etc...
-
Again, just guess work on my part. So far, I've only figured out how to win right now (today). No idea how to solve this puzzle long term. That's why I really like it.
-
I envision mad trades by Enrico this off season, dealing away those prospects for players that can help much sooner.
-
Team has needs at 1B, 2B, DH, OF (4), and RP (4). Tough to cover that with less than $100 remaining and be competitive (and that's before vote offs for either Stras or Trout)
-
Enrico's rebuild will take longer than one season.
-
Having a hard time seeing how a rebuild team like Enrico can go from last to 1st in 2013. Consider: $300 in base salaries now, so $100 to play with next year (not counting inflation and cuts).
-
I'm coming more and more around to the side that says prospects value is best served by trading them for players that can contribute now. Never thought I'd say that, and probably a result of my standings this season, but...
-
And that team's starting pitching is in the toilet.
-
Well, that vacuum must also take into consideration the fact that the team trading Trumbo also owns Jay Bruce,Lucas Duda, Joey Votto and Paul Goldschmitt..
-
Still having a hard time understaning Correa going for $9. Wow.
-
In a vacuum, what do you think of the trade? Trumbo and Joel Peralta for Darvish
-
We were both here, so we just finished our negotiations.
-
It must show the power of Ottoneu when a trade for another league is discussed on this message board
-
Oh we were discussing a trade in our other league.
-
Are you guys finalizing a trade via the message board or are you going to make it happen via the trade system?
-
Yeah I was just trying to drive up the price. No interest in landing him.

The winner of the Correa sweepstakes is Durham, at $3...for Jurickson Profar

Jed, you have to be very pleased you didn't land Correa for $8, right?
