The whole "Oh he will TOTALLY be a starter... At some point!" thing is kind of played.
-
Bammo! $13 is a lot for any reliever next year.
-
$11 is a lot to pay for a guy that will have TJ in less than a year
-
was at Reds - Indians tonight to scout the back end of my bullpen personally... not impressed with this Chapman guy.

Anyone want Chapman? All of a sudden he's extremely hit table and prefers the gopherball
-
Thornburg pitched decently well for 5 innings...and then the wheels came violently crashing off
-
You're right. They often shift around 9-10 a.m., then just as often they shift around 7 p.m. Bizarre.

The points change right before games start each day. I'm now somehow down by 200
-
dang it....not sure how much longer I can hang with others paying attention at this level
-
3 proud owners are locked in a bitter struggle to see who can prevail and.....nevermind.
-
In case you're not paying attention, you are missing a GREAT battle for 8th place in the standings...
-
Except for Yadier Molina, who would then have a negative K rate.

I think that applies to basically every player in baseball
-
If Pedro Alvarez cut down his K rate by 5% he could be very good
-
Agreed. Yet another small rule change that needs to take place. You ought to be able to start anyone, honestly
-
yeah, I hope that hasn't fallen off Niv's radar. they shouldn't be "minor league players" anymore as soon as they're on the 40-man. If someone starts a player who isn't currently with the MLB club, well, that's their own fault.
-
and not that it matters for me, but of course I wont be able to start him for it
-
The cost of competing starting to become evident. Thornburg called up to start; Barnes, Davidson likely to be very good. Just a few of the guys I've traded that would be nice this time next season...
-
I'll let someone else post now, I think.

Being right at it, I now have all the excuse I need to bench the oh-so-reliable Dan Haren.

Knights raises an interesting point about meeting the IP requirement. My sense is that pitching stats across the board are worse in Aug/Sept than in earlier months, but that might be anecdotal.

Just watching Dickey, and remembering what Wakefield and that Springer guy looked like, there's just comparison. I don't even know that you can call his pitch a knuckleball, if its speed and trajectory are unlike any other knuckleball in MLB history.

If you're trading, I'm buying
-
I'm trying to figure out how/why I had the foresight to go trade for him in this league, then in my three other leagues, where I could've added him with like 3 mouse clicks, I just let him slip by. Idiot.

If I had the stones I would deal Dickey right now. His HR/FB and LOB rates are way unsustainable.

It's tough when going backwards though. Honestly, being over on IP better than being under. A 6.5 p/ip isn't that great if you finish season with 1200 innings, like I was on pace for a

I have like 800 more IP than the teams chasing me, so closing the pitching gap shouldn't be too difficult.

Ok, I have five days to catch up before Dickey starts again. Let's go!
-
I just got -15 points from B. Myers giving up 8 hits in less than 1 IP. Is that even possible?
-
But Dickey is a grandfather...
-
The dude throws an 80+ MPH knuckler! That doesn't sound like a lot to us, desensitized fantasy nerds, but that is an incredibly tough pitch! This isn't your grandfather's knuckleball. It's new and improved!
-
Gotta think he's throwing some sort of spit-knuckle, right? The dude is 38
-
It wont happen but would love to see Dickey start ASG and go as long as he can
-
nope, from my understanding he'd be the first. I'd easily put him in top 5 right now, with Gio, Stras, Cain, Greinke.

Not Niekro. I can't think of any other candidates either.

Beachy with partial tear in UCL. Fml.

Don't forget Cain

Gotta be up there with Gio, Strasburg. Has a knuckleballer ever won the Cy? Niekro?

RA Dickey - Cy Young? Discuss...

Honestly, if he wasn't a Met I doubt I would've traded for him.
