weird in this league IMHO
-
yeah, I'm halfway through a 12 month building process, I don't think I'm going to look at my team any different tomorrow than I did yesterday. Obviously I like Bruce at $31, I'm just pointing out the relationship between awesomeness and prices is still
-
Jed, you've gained 13 points since 8:30 AM. No other point movers in the top 5. Sneaky move. Must be the "1st place" bonus you get for remaining at the top each day.
-
I traded Pomeranz and Bundy for Kipnis...
-
Just wait till the off season. When you think you're team is in contention, you'll look at prices differently. When there are about 10 decent OF left in the pool, $31 for a 26 y/o Bruce will look great.
-
Are you saying that $31 Bruce is inflated?

And there were very few "fantasy experts" who thought that Trout would be up pre-ASB. Almost everything I read had Bourjos slated for 500 PA.

No need to be humble, you made a killing, but Beachy was a huge chip at that point in time so we can't play Monday morning quarterback too much.

and Jay Bruce is $31 next year, this league is still bizarre at how it looks at prices
-
Well Bundy hasn't had his TJ yet, Pastornicky is a cut and Pomeranz is struggling at AAA, Trout is a nice hit but lots of variability
-
So the best young player in baseball and arguably the game's best pitching prospect for a sub-par 2012 CC, an ex-closer, and a TJ victim. That's a nice return.

those were two trades with Lucky and Knights
-
On that day in trade history, Enrico recieved Pomeranz, Bundy, Trout and Pastornicky and gave up CC, Walden and Beachy
-
most boneheaded has to be the moron who traded Trout on the eve of his MVP season

I haven't looked back at all the trades, but in my mind the biggest lopsided trade of the season has been Enrico's where he snagged Jay Bruce for two low end prospects (Rosario, Gyorko). Don't see either of those guys as impact.
-
I've realized that my bullpen flat-out sucks. Quantity =/= quality.

I've been thinking through blockbuster deals, but it's tough. I don't think you're going to see too many blockbusters between contenders, and a lot of teams are still contending.

That Fister start was a big help today. Thanks Jed.

we need more blockbuster deals...keeps the blood flowing and arguments flying

Fister @TEX. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Those freaking pesky longballs. Both Fister and Greinke dominant from a WHIP standpoint, useless from an ottoneu standpoint.

Picking up Cano might be the best deal I've made this season. He's been huge lately.

Tough news on Hudson. Good news for Skaggs owners I guess...

Add Dan Hudson to the TJ club.

Nice offensive outburst for my group today and I'm still nearly 200 points out. Didn't make much of a dent...
-
I didn't make much of a push for Upton because I thought he was way overpriced, but in retrospect that was probably dumb, since his salary is meaningless in-season.

that's exactly it - unless something terrible happens, all 4 teams win based on what they needed at the time. I just hope I win more.

We are in different places trading for different purposes so it's not so much about who "won" the trade, because we can both be winners in terms of our objectives.

Even if Reddick and McDonald regress somewhat (I can't imagine Reddick will hit 38 HR), you still got the best long-term value, I don't think there's any question of that.

But IF your aunt had balls, she would be your uncle....so who knows who got the better deal, it had to be a good one to generate so much debate!!!!

But again, Reddick and McDonald look like sexy components in that trade, but I was not exactly fielding jaw-dropping offers for either player. Everyone was skeptical.

IF Reddick and McDonald keep up their great play and IF Haren regains his form, then I feel I got the best long term value....
-
I love the debate on the deal, but it all comes down to a bunch of IF's....IF Roy comes back strong, then WAR got the best player in the deal...
-
Acquiring an injured Halladay could absolutley blow up in my face, for sure. But when you're dealing from depth, which I had at SP, you can afford the high-risk high-reward strategy.

I may be thrown off by the fact that I hate acquiring injured players, esp. SP, even Halladay, to the extent I'd rather have McDonald for ROS. Underlying stats seem pretty strong.

In that six-player trade, Haren might have been the *least* valuable asset given his price/production ratio.
