Works for me.

Most people have filled out the poll and we are all available on February 22, so I've set this as the auction date. If there is anyone this date does not work for, speak up now!
-
I Doodled. Had to check no on weekends because I work but could do weekend nights if we shifted that time slot.
-
Please fill out the Doodle ASAP if you haven't already so that we can lock down an auction date. Thanks!

I created a Doodle to pick a date for the auction. In the past we've done 8:30 PM Eastern Time if it's a week night and 1:00 PM if it's a weekend. The auction usually runs for about 2.5 hours. Please select all dates that you're available and we'll pick the earliest date that we can get everyone together!
-
Evenings work best for me. I'd struggle to get a weekend day off of work.

What are thoughts on a draft date and time?

Hey, thanks for joining and welcome to our corner of the world. That team needed some love, so I'm glad you grabbed it with time left in the off-season to make some moves.
-
What’s shaking everyone? I found this league/team abandon...May have stormed it like an idiot at a capitol building, and made some cuts. Please let me know if that is cool? Play mostly in FG points leagues, but I wanted to dabble in a 5x5.
-
Welcome to the league, Reached on Error!
-
I've been trying with no luck. I'll do another cycle of advertisement, and also mark the team abandoned so it shows up on the available list.
-
Last team activity in September. Migh5 be time...
-
Are we still going to replace Five-0? If so, let's get it done soon so the new owner can shape their team a bit before cuts and the draft.
-
Nice flurry of activity from several contenders! Good work, guys! Very fair deals all around.
-
Thanks to Tux and Ruffnecks for the extra work on the allocations.
-
Okay, all salaries are updated! Please feel free to double check your teams and make sure I didn't make any mistakes.
-
Yeah, looks like we'll need to replace him. He hasn't logged in since September
-
We should also consider replacing Five-O. Missing arb is not a good sign.
-
Great, thanks! I will work on getting these salaries updated by the end of the day
-
I made a copy last night. Everyone but Five-0 arbed. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rsKxesga98Bkeg0DHydF67SEe5tmbcxkZfBbBHH45Hg/edit?usp=drivesdk
-
Looks like we can't view the arbitration results. I saved them yesterday around 3 PM, but there were still two teams who didn't allocate. Did anyone allocate or make any changes after 3 yesterday? If so you'll need to repost it here. These are the results that I have saved: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JLdSNSt6OQfbaWTNdQskeBkXrObF6jH79bZpzstlI6M/edit?usp=sharing
-
I'm thinking we should submit our arb decisions here before the end, so we have a permanent record and can easily refer to something when we make the manual adjustments.
-
Less than two weeks left for arbitration distribution! Get those $15 bucks assigned!
-
So this is one option, we can also use the message board / slack / email as Rob suggested. Whatever everyone's most comfortable with is fine with me.
-
"We don't have a lot of custom features for one-off arbitration settings, so I think your best bet is to do partial arbitration through the normal process and then note the salary changes to make on November 15. The changes won't take effect as long as no one fully completes arbitration by using all of their $25, and then you can go in and make the changes you want after the arbitration period is over through the Commissioner Tools."
-
Correct, we will have to manually edit the salaries at the end of arbitration. I contacted Niv to see if we could have arbitration customized for this season and you can see his response...
-
The only way it will work is if we do it manually with commissioner tools. We could have each owner submit allocations on the message board or slack or email or whatever and then manually adjust the salaries.
-
I don't think that this is going to work. Per the rules (https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules#offseason), "If a team does not allocate all $25, none of their allocations will count and it will be as if they did not participate at all" (Rule VII.d.i.g). I read that as allocations have got to be an all or nothing thing.

Not everyone participated in the poll, yet there were 7 votes for $15 arbitration instead of $25, which is a majority of the league. So for this off-season, please leave $10 of your arbitration dollars unused, and don't put more than $2 on any other team. Let me know if you have any questions!
-
Just a reminder that arbitration starts tomorrow. If you'd like a say in the type of arbitration we do this off-season, make sure to fill out the doodle today!
-
Hey all... with arbitration coming up, I've been thinking that given we only played 2 months out of 6, it seems unbalanced for us to do a full round of arbitration. I think something like instead of $25 to allocate per team, it would make more sense if we each get $15, with $1 min on every other team and $2 max. Also open to other suggestions. I created this poll to see if there is a consensus, please try to cast your vote ASAP. https://doodle.com/poll/fq9ixpswfxn9eycm

Congrats K/9 on a well played season!

Yeah, no season will definitely have a lot of bizarre consequences. I don't have a problem with the salary increases, it's the arbitration that worries me. Ottoneu does resemble real-life, but things move a lot faster here than in MLB. In MLB you have control of a player for 6 years, yet almost no player is kept in ottoneu for 6 years straight.
-
Ottoneu reflects real life managing of a team. In real life salaries will go up, contracts will expire etc. So while it hurts to not gain any value from it current contacts, it's not as bad as real life if we only face increases. Think of how the Dodgers feel any thing for Betts and losing the entire season. I'm not opposed to a salary freeze, but if it doesn't happen, just remember it could be worse.
-
I don't think the $1 or $2 salary increases will make much of a difference - although if we wanted to avoid that, technically we have commissioner tools that can edit salary. The main problem to me is another round of arbitration, so hopefully it won't come to it, but if the season is cancelled I guess we can take a vote and see what everyone wants to do about that.
-
I posted on the community message board and this is the response I got from Niv - Position eligibility remains in place based on 2019 games played.
Salary increases happen as normal, since service time will accrue as normal in real life
Arbitration will be in place, though your leagues can choose to entirely skip arbitration if you want.
This is all subject to change, and I’ll make it very clear on how Ottoneu will proceed if MLB does officially cancel the 2020 season.
-
Sorry for the delayed response, TT&MOM. I am under the impression that Niv will be considering the circumstances (once we know what they are) and deciding how arbitration and inflation will be handled in the Ottoneu universe. I suggest we go with whatever is decided on that level. I think it makes sense to freeze salaries and skip arb, but I've only been playing Ottoneu for a year now, so there might be some depth to the issue that I don't fully understand.
-
First of all, I hope everyone is holding up okay and staying safe!
So, this is probably (almost definitely) premature, but what I've been wondering is - if the season is cancelled, what will happen with inflation / arbitration? I feel like it wouldn't make much sense to have another round of salary increases without any games being played. But I'd be interested to hear what everyone else thinks.
-
Anybody thinking about trades right now? I know there's uncertainty, but I'm willing to talk if there's other interested parties. Hope you are all safe and healthy.
-
Fair warning to the league - I'm already getting into some serious trade negotiations on some of my top guys. If you're interested, better get competitive offers in quick!
-
Thanks, Ruffnecks! Pleased to have another team with a bunch of guys I don't own elsewhere...
-
Welcome aboard FT!
-
Hi all. I'm excited to be here, and have a new Ottoneu rebuild challenge. I think you'll find that I'm very active on the trade front, and am always interested in fielding fair(ish) offers. Let me get my bearings a bit and do my round of cuts, and I should be able to hit the ground running.
-
Hey all, Chin Music had to leave the league, and he's just been replaced by a new owner. Welcome!
