Arbitration now open!
-
Boooo Adam, November 15? I'm bored, trying to start making deals now
-
Also trading will reopen on November 15, after arbitration ends.
-
So Niv (the site creator) just corrected the final scoring which looks bad because the only thing it changed was by moving me up a slot.

-
In case anyone was wondering, Killebrew was worth 1291.4 Ottoneu points that year. Jackson was worth 1091.8

I'm going $70 for Reggie Jackson

I think the major issue I have is that a) points were allowable over 1500 IP and 2) it was a midseason rule change, which I'm always uncomfortable with...

I made that mistake today and it removed my remaining two starters and my 4 closers from the lineup, so I won't get their points. Guy who runs the site says there is nothing he can do to fix it now
-
Yeah I understand, and it's all good stuff to know for next season. For anyone who hasn't hit 1500 yet, I have a piece of advice. Once you've got your lineup set for the last day of your pitching, don' t make any changes to it (hitters or pitchers).

In all honesty, it may not have changed how I played the season out anyway. But I may have tried to hit 1500 earlier in the season with more pitchers and then dumped them for other things. Not that I couldn't have done it any way....

If that is your point MI than I can see that. Hopefully, you still have some time to take advantage of the soft cap though before the year is over.
-
The only strategic difference this soft cap added that I can see is that you would want to plan to reach 1499.0 BEFORE the end of the season and NOT the last day of the season as we would have all planned with a hard cap.
-
And for the record, this is out of our league control. That post explains that the soft cap is a result of completely changing the database structure. It's Ottoneu wide. The database required for a hard cap literally doesn't exist
-
I agree with that. It should have been posted somewhere
-
Guys get hurt, guys pitch 2 inning duds when you hoped for 7. I just don't see what you'd do differently in June if you knew about a soft cap
-
I do agree however that Ottoneu should have made this more obvious to all of us who paid to join their website.
-
What would you have done differently though? As far as planning goes you went from having 1500 innings available to slightly more than 1500, and until you get to almost 1500 you can't make any firm plans anyway
-
You most certainly can gameplan especially if you have your own innings projection system down. Switching any scoring criteria halfaway through the season needs a vote by the league.

Sorry for duplicates, I swear I'm not posting everything 3 times

Exactly what Tony said, all you can do is try to get close to 1500 then plan for one single day where you get some bonus innings

I also knew about the soft cap about halfway through the season and tried to plan accordingly.
