well the worst trade between him and another team the last year was me, so i guess im the alt
-
Whoever Shoopy was, he had a lot of good teams.
-
Oh and also, Steve you're taking over 5 of Shoopy's leagues?! π
-
Also who was Shoopy again?
-
So who here is Shoopy's alt?
-
Nothing like a little drama to make a Tuesday more exciting! Welcome to the league!
-
Hahaha! Really? A cheating scandal? Amazing. In any event, welcome aboard, Steve!
-
Shoppy got Ottobanned for running multiple accounts or something like that. Hello to the new owner. Hopefully you're here for the long haul. Not a championship run and done, that flag barely counts...
-
Donβt think Iβve ever had as many guys move at a deadline before. 7 guys on my roster playing for different teams now. Hopefully theyβre all platooned the same way haha
-
Kuchiβ¦your cap penalty should double each month for drafting Bauer vs cutting it in half
-
I didn't think I'd win all four! I was trying for the bulk approach with auctions, but their was less competition than anticipated. Maybe I should have waited until they were called up. Ha!
-
I come back from vacation and CRB won a bunch of future South Side Gentlemen Callers!
-
South Side: I'm probably way late on this but ensure you have a full roster please.
-
Canceled the trade. Haven't had time to digest unfortunately. Will have more by mid day tomorrow.
-
2) Thanks (I think?) RJ, for the career suggestion, but I'm actually an engineer. My job involves a lot of negotiations with contractors, so maybe it is rubbing off on me. :)
-
Thanks for the feedback. I am happy to abide by the wishes of the league. I appreciate the dialogue and was not trying to game the system.
1) To be clear: there was no commitment on either of our parts to cut any of the players in the trade. It was likely that I would have cut one or both of the players, but I was still evaluating my options. If a cut was required, we would have included that in the provisions of the trade. The trade was fully documented for league review.
-
5) CRB would make a good accountant/lawyer with all the grey he likes to play in :)
-
Well I've already said my piece, again I've seen where this leads to so that's why I voiced my concerns.
-
Mid work day thoughts that may change: 1) be happy CRB isn't Ethan or half the league would be crying witch 2) The fact Ichiro feels sticky about it the morning after is telling 3) i am leaning towards canceling and having them put it thorough again so more people have a chance to react 4) if you all are going to cut all or most of these players i'm even more in the camp of canceling i see the trade as CRB getting $30 in cap for 2 cuts and Ichiro the ability to get 2 players at half their price.
-
*would NOT have proposed the trade*
-
They have something to balance out trade without trying to game the system. If you're actively trying to circumvent that, then you're gaming the system full stop.
-
strategic challenge. Again, I was not trying to give anybody heartburn and I would have proposed the trade if I thought it didn't meet the rules. Not trying to be sneaky, just creative.
-
Here's what I've seen on other leagues, someone cuts a player with huge salary, another owner offers to nominate that player if they agree to nominate one of their penalties. Both gets players for half off. Is that also within the rules? Because this is heading towards that direction. Started with $1 player last year. Now it's $10. Eventually you're trading $40 players cut for $20.
-
We also discussed a trade similar to that ($8 reduction in the loan). The trade was essentially better for me because I can recoup some of the salary space by cutting the players that I have to nominate, and I may choose to keep player(s) if they fit the needs of my team. Additionally, I can be strategic in my selections for nomination in the hope that another team may want the player. RJ made it harder by nominating the $6 Patino, but I knew that was a risk with the trade and am happy for the
-
I understand how it is better, you're circumventing the loan process and gaming the system.
-
Putting myself in CRB's shoes...nominating players is better for him because if I give you a loan as a part of a trade it lives for the entire season at that value. Nominating a player and assuming that cap penalty could go down (or be removed if somebody else adds them) throughout the season. Not saying I agree or like it, but as far as I can tell it's not against the written rules of Ottoneu, but might be against the spirit of the game.
-
Why couldn't he just give you $10 less loans if he just wanted to clear some space? You have $10 to add to your roster without having to nominate anyone.
-
If the league wants to make a rule against this type of trade, I will happily abide by the wishes of the league (though I would vote against such a rule). It is definitely possible that I have been accused of overthinking things before, so I may be over-complicating the trading process too. I'm happy to explain further, if anyone has questions.
-
Here's the thing, if I go around offering to nominate cap penalities for others in exchange for players, is that within the rules? This is the same as that, just in a roundabout way.
-
Hey All, We certainly did were not trying to give anyone heartburn with the trade. Sorry that is does not sit right with some of you! Alonso wanted some cap space as part of the deal and we were trying to be creative by having my team assume some of his cap penalties. I don't think that a trade like this is against the official Ottoneu rules (there are discussions on the community boards about this), and all of the conditions of the trade are clearly stated (i.e. there are not side deals, etc).
-
I'm with the Juicery on this one. I don't mind the trade itself but the cap space agreement just didn't sit right with me.
-
Honestly I'm fine with the trade on face value, it's the including cap space clearing that I'm concerned with, seems like salary manipulation to me, especially if you nominate people to clear cap space for other, then what, you cut them? And then other people nom those guys, now you're just reducing salary penalties on dudes who are supposed to be dead space. There should be a penalty for cutting people, wait 30 like everyone else....
-
lol with the Tomy Pham comment... and now I feel like Joc. To be honest, it started as a trade-and-cut deal that could create cap space for both and then it evolved into this. I didn't think anything of it last night but then this morning as I started work I began thinking that it might not be kosher. So I'm totally fine with it getting vetoed or canceled if that's what commish or the league as a whole want.
-
The volume on my Dua Lipa music videos doesn't go loud enough to drown out the crying/fighting.
-
My thoughts are the same as last year except i'm not traveling, just stuck working from home while 3 toddlers ruin any concentration I may have..... I used my veto and started a $6 patino option so CRB couldn't use him as part of the $10 (since he was the most attractive add for a few reasons).
-
Mike Trout here, my comment from last year when CRB made a trade like this "Hey all, some people have expressed concern about the trade with nomination stipulations. I am traveling and don't really want to expend much mental energy on this right now. So if you have a problem with it please express now and/or use your veto . For whatever it's worth I don't love it but also don't care much since it's in the open (giving people the right to veto) and the trade is fine as is."
-
(feeling real Tommy Pham energy here π)
-
Hey what is this about nominating cap space as part of a trade? Is that allowed? I don't remember it happening previously....
-
Cincinnati and Cleveland's game yesterday was postponed, to be made up today. Didn't get to check my lineup until now. Because I'd set my lineup for the week, Mahle and Quantrill both ended up on my bench. Along with the 80 points scored between the two of them. COOL!
-
Wow! The wheels came off fast for Eovaldi. I wish he had done that last week, when you beat me by 1.7 points. :)
-
-70 POINTS?! I mean, good for my Astros for whooping up on Eovaldi...but dangit man!!!
-
Looking to acquire a 3B if anyone is in the mood to deal!
-
Phew....never thought I was going to win a matchup
-
Reminder week 1 is 10 days. So don't use all your SP slots early.
-
Cleveland probably won't sign anything but minor league free agents for 5 years now that their money is gone.
-
Seems like a decently friendly deal for Cleveland....I love it if it soaked up all their funds.
-
Opening Day!!!!!
-
WE LIKE IT A LOT MAN
-
Thoughts on the Jose Ramirez extension? Seems like a pretty good deal for the Guardians.
