Brew I think the sport fishing for perch is fine, and Erie is the classic but not only place to go. It’s different than walleye fishing—a big perch is probably 1.5 pounds or so, nothing like John’s 10-pound walleyes, and I imagine you need a boat (or ice). Maybe you can fish them from shore somewhere, some times during the year.

Cleveland was going to name their AHL hockey team the Fighting Walleye at one point. But changed to Lake Erie Monsters.
-
I never made it out that way. I have caught multiple 10+ lb walleye from the rocks behind the RnR HOF though
-
I was referencing sport fishing but morphed into dining.. I wonder if john hook has ever beento.Put-In-Bay

Brew, re Erie perch fishery: https://www.ohiomagazine.com/travel/article/food-road-trips-lake-erie-perch Agree that walleye is also great. Saltwater, well, ono is not just the name of the fish but also the Hawaiian word meaning delicious.

Walleye is my personal favorite fresh water fish ever so slightly over perch. Salt water its Pompano
-
Top notch
-
Lake Erie is really known.as actor notch small mouth and walleye fishery
-
I’d switch allegiance immediately to the Cleveland Lake Perch, provided they had a good fish logo (has to be much better than the Gwinnett Stripers, who don’t know what they’re doing) and they used Cuyahoga as their team song.

Lake perch? At least that’s what Sayers drove all around Cleveland looking for when we were there for a conference. I don’t remember if Mikey was with us. Someone set the tablecloth on fire when we finally found some perch. In these days of Cobb County ballparks and billion $$ proposals for the Oakland waterfront and the Coliseum site $65 million seems a bargain. Plus IM Pei!

Is Cleveland known for or tied to any particular culinary dish ?

Alan Freed
-
A Cleveland DJ did coin the term "rock and roll" and album orientated radio is said to have been successful in Cleveland before anywhere else. But agreed, it might not be the most logical place.
-
I'm sure it had nothing to do with the $65 Million incentive package the city offered.
-
Off topic—but how did the rock hall end up in Cleveland? I mean, what’s the great Cleveland band? NIN? Joe Walsh? Is there a great Cleveland song? My City Is Gone is Akron, Youngstown is close I guess, so that leaves…Cuyahoga? (I realize my choices are identifying me as a 55 to 65 year old white dude, but the shoe fits.) And these songs all have a certain theme…. Though not exactly “rock” Wreck mentions Cleveland—but the Edmund Fitzgerald never gets there….

Strike that too close to Rockies
-
Rockers would have been cool to tie in with hall of fame
-
Could be worse. Beats the current name at least.

Exactly! Of course Whit Merrofield is a totally different person.

Apologies to Tom, that’s not Glavine. Not paying enough attention while imagining Whit a Red Sox. He seems like the opposite: Whit has 25 SBs this year, the RS have 32 total.

Oh…so it’s a “rumor” from sports-talk radio? It doesn’t seem likely the Red Sox would even consider that.

Baez to the Red Sox seems weird. Can he play 1B? Don’t they really need Rizzo, not Baez?

Schmegs is the one who goes off the grid into the bush this time of year
-
I like this from the aspect it will start the dominos
-
Rays acquired DH Nelson Cruz and RHP Calvin Faucher from the Twins in exchange for RHP Joe Ryan and RHP Drew Strotman.
-
Fact*
-
It's a fat the Cruz rumor the Baez
-
Baez to Red Sox strongly rumored here
-
Better than Oakland but not a great place to hit home runs. Is this fact or rumor Brew? Not that it matters, I don’t have anyone else to hit for him tonight.

Nelson Cruz to the Rays , I like it

NL East run differential (going into today): Atlanta +26; NYM +8; Miami -4; Phillies -10; Nats -16 (after going +21 in the last 3 games). So yeah, Nats are lucky to be in 4th.

Those were the days. Once Mikey had to fly to Honolulu and drag me to the Row Bar (across the street from the PIFWO, for the FWS folks) to agree to a trade in our FWS league. However I can’t imagine there’s anyone in this league who didn’t wish I still lived in Hawaii.

I'm actually pretty happy that the Nats are the fourth team in the NL east; they could, perhaps should, be double digits out
-
Well I have no qualms about saying Cubs are 4th place team in nl central
