coincidentally, at that same time i was doing some hotel consulting work on the side and the guy that I worked with there, grew up playing baseball with Fernando Vina so he hated belle for messing with "his homie Nando". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV3fNK31HD4

Haha. "close personal friend" is a bit of an overstatement. He used to frequent a hotel that I managed a few years back (probably 2014-2015 ?) and I chatted with him a few times. Mostly he was pretty standoffish, but was never rude. Even at 50 something though he was quite intimidating. I did ask him to sub in for my rec softball team one time -- he was not interested.
-
Been to Dodger stadium one time. My trip there coincided with interleague play, which was new and infrequent at that time, and the Big Hurt homered twice.
-
Close personal friend of Brent? That requires more…
-
I think Albert Belle, one of the underrated all time hitters, and close personal friend of Brent, is still the last (and only?) player to hit 50 homers and 50 Doubles in the same season
-
Todd Helton and Barry Bonds both did that in 2001, but like The Beatles, they got by with a little help from their friends
-
One of the coolest and rarest feats is 100 extra base hits in a season , which means you have to stay healthy
-
Its cool to see one of those big imposing hitters (and not in Yankees uniform). When frank Thomas was coming to bat, vendors sat still , and nobody went to pee or get concessions
-
That White Sox - Twins game today was crazy

It is good first baseball that ELOY is back. Very much reminds me of Manny Ramirez
-
Just 7 points from my goal.

Henry , I don't like that you are still in the running

Red Sox are in one of their "we forgot how to baseball" funks.

How are the Cubs beating good teams like Bosox and Braves with these players ?
-
I will root for Snell to get shelled remainder of the year, he was aiming up and in
-
Travis D is up to 5.63 , some positive news after Blake Snell sabatoged my quest.
-
Cubs vs Reds , what crap on the field , no stars no impact players
-
312 is a pretty good day

275 points separate 1st from 7th.

I went to the cross roads like Robert Johnson to win this year
-
Diamondbacks OF prospect Corbin Carroll homered and stole a base for Double-A Amarillo on Tuesday.
The homer is the 16th of the season, and the steal is the 20th. He’s hitting .323/.438/.659 in 55 games with the Sod Poodles. He’s the best outfield prospect still in the minors, and he might be the best prospect in baseball.
-
You WANDERed. Love the pun, intentional or not.
-
I wandered down the last calendar year stats rabbit hole because I was looking at Soler (top 20 OF!) and discovered that in the last year Kyle Farmer has out pointed and out wOBAd Franco, Lindor and Muncy among others.
-
No hr , just three doubles

Happy Fathers Day Everyone

I bet Olson homers....for Pat
-
Wind shift coming out of South today should be a bunch of HR but not 11 like in that Dbacks game last month
-
2 in a row. Break up the Cubs.

Braves fielding is piss poor this series, lumox Riley and oaf Duvall especially
-
Pat Riley is definitely in the conversation.
-
Omg Brent that’s hilarious. I think we saw the end of LaRussa’s prime the day McGuire left the bay. I honestly don’t think there’s ever been a more “respected sports mind” who’s actually a fucking dumbass that negatively impacts his team
-
Riley Greene makes his mlb debut today, hope the kid hits hr in his first at bat
-
Rendon and Angels as a franchise are just snakebit. Tim Salmon was always hurt too and I always kept him anyways
-
Villar stole the game today
-
Tony Conigliaro.

Tony LaRussa?
-
Really sucks the end of Tony’s prime being snuffed out by injuries
-
We’ll that wasn’t the game we paid to see. 1-0? More sacrifice bunts than HRs? Congrats Brew, your reverse-curse worked today.

Cubs have dropped 10 in a row
-
Unsual combo of south and east winds, but not gusting . which means blowing out to left field
-
I picked up Duval in Capped just because of this series.

So you are saying that I should be hoping for a 17 game win streak headed back to ATL?
-
Last two series , Cubs were out scored 41 to 15 vs SD and 28 to 6 in series vs NYY. My apologies to Brent for saying the Dbacks were biggest dogshit team back in April
-
Look for the Braves to tee off this weekend vs .Cubs and their AAA level pitching. Sunny ,pleasant , wind will be blowing out bigtime Sunday as another round of upper 90s /low 100s ushers in. Two homers for D arnaud I'm predicting .
-
I might have but I don’t think I meant to say anything about keeping Freddie. But yes I’d prefer to be blown away by any offers.

From what I've heard around the league, Jram , Devers, and Freeman are all being kept ( unless blown away by an overpay offer ). So Betts was the last big impact hitter to fall , so contenders will naturally pivot to seeking SP and closers
-
Since I’m getting offers, FYI, I actually like my pitching staff for the future, so it would take a big offer to pry one of my bigger arms away
-
Of course, the day I drop him Moncada scores 34 points…
-
Carroll has 13 HR and 18 SB in 44 games, slashing .305/.425/.626 and putting to bed any concerns about his surgically repaired shoulder in the process.
