The Whirling Darvishes's trading block has been updated!
-
Yep was planning on a team name change just hadn't gotten around to it. Will definitely be open to trades, pretty much everyone would be available for the right price, young upside but established MLB players not prospects would be what I am looking for.
-
Cool. Welcome! By the way, feel free to change the team name. We should have some activity over winter. You can't trade until after arbitration but I think most will be fairly open to discussions if you want to start messing with your roster before then.

And I would vote for the new arbitration format. At least with the new method you still have the option of keeping a player rather than arbitrarily losing your best value player
-
...cont. I've followed Ottoneu the last year and have been holding out looking for an active league, most seem fairly dead so excited to be part of a league that hasn't disbanded after a year!

Hey Guys, I picked up tino's team via a rt from @ottoneu. I haven't played Ottoneu before (usually play Yahoo, 3 leagues this year resulted in 3 first place finishes, 2 pro leagues and a Winners League).
-
And there you go, someone already has picked up Tino.

I haven't heard from a few of you on the arbitration process issue. There's enough that we'll just go with the majority at this stage but, remember, October 16th is the deadline for sticking your oar in.

Tino Bambino has bowed out of the League of Lev. I've abandoned the team and I'd imagine it gets snapped up pretty quickly but if anyone knows someone who'd like to join, feel free to point them this way.

CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! :) Thanks everyone for the great season!

I just read the new arbitration process. Looks fine, just as the alternate pitchers points looks fine.
-
It allows owners have more control over their roster - you won't wake up one morning in November to discover your best player has been dumped from your team. I think these are good things.

The new system really doesn't change all that much. It adds some finesse. It allows an extra year of having a decent price on that guy you picked up for $3 right before he became an All-Star.

I'm not buying the argument that making this switch now would benefit some teams more than others. The arbitration process informed decisions made by all teams, or at least there's no way of proving that it didn't.

I am for it. Though, I see exactly where You've Been is coming from. Depending on your focus, this totally changes your team.

If anyone (that is committed to staying in the league) is against changing for this offseason, then I would suggest we keep the rules the way it is. Changing next year can be a separate vote, and we can deal with that in the spring.

I can understand your position. I kept the vote-off in mind while trading. It is tough in a way to change the rules now. The one big thing I like about the new system is you don't necessarily have to lose anyone.

or voting now, for a system to go into effect next year. Since, at that point, all teams will have equal time to prepare and be on a level playing field.
-
I am very against the change. I don't think it is fair to make the change this offseason when some teams may have made roster specific moves to deal with the old system. I would be fine with voting for a change for next offseason.
-
I'm not sure this is my final answer but I'm leaning toward favoring the new allocation process over the old voting process.

Seems fine to me. I'll be happy to change. We need to decide on this pretty quickly because it will kick in from early next month.

This was just posted on Rotographs. Everyone should read it and offer up opinions. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/index.php/new-and-improved-ottoneu-arbitration-process/
-
It doesn't really make much difference either way. I'd have a preference for one but I can live with either. I'd say most are the same. I'll ask everyone for a vote in the off season - just wanted to mention it now.

The new pitching points proposal looks not so different from the old. Looks fine to me.
-
If anyone is interested, here's the link to the article on system as it is now which has detail on the old ways too. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/index.php/a-new-fantasy-pitching-points-system-proposal/

On an unrelated note, I believe we're going to have the option to change back to the old pitching scoring system in the off season (which was basically the same but it ignored hits allowed so its was closer to FIP). We can put it to a vote at some stage.

guessing here, but I think the strategy is to make sure no one (but Metrix) gets a top prospect cheap at the end of the season; and I'd say it worked

Polanco seems like a steal at just $99, though.
-
He can't get under the cap if he cuts everybody! Gents, this is why you bid realistically. Putting in a high bid to win a auction won't do any good if people figure out your strategy.
-
Metrix is a hair over the salary cap....

well, I think _one_ of those auctions is mine.

Any form of deductive reasoning would tell us that Metrix season is over. Honestly though, how many prospects can one team hold?
-
Prospects! Prospects! Get your prospects! Man, that is a white flag if ever I saw one! Let the auctions begin...

I almost died laughing when I saw all the auctions. Nothing against Metrix, this many started by one person is just insane.
-
I think Metrix is contemplating a few roster changes...

But if there are tie-breakers played in MLB to determine who gets into the playoffs, they are counted as regular season games
Chico Escuelas on
September 10, 2012 1:53 PM

Yeah. There's no playoffs. Team in first at the end of the regular season takes home the prize. I get that playoffs can be exciting and they might mirror real life, but I prefer it like this. There's no option to change it anyway.
