Welcome Islanders. We'll see what we can do about the draft but we're working with a good few different time zones so it might not be possible to move it much later. Nearly full up now. Screaming Jax is gone again but I've just abandonded that team so someone should pick it up shortly.

Hi everyone! New guy here, picked up "For Whom the Bells Toll". New to this scoring format and to Ottoneu in general, but really looking forward to engaging all season with an eye toward those to come. 3/27 is a good day for the draft, but would prefer something a bit later in the evening, if possible.
-
Yes, when you pick up a team, you get a free round of cuts. I just missed those two when I transferred my picks to the browser.
-
We have two open teams - For Whom the Bell Tolls and Screaming Jax. Once they're taken up, we will confirm the draft. There shouldn't be a problem starting at 7pm on the 27th, Manzanita.

Hey Northern Strikes, do you didn't get cap penalties? Does it let you make free cuts when you pick up a team? Anyway, I've no problem taking those two players off your team.

Hello admins,
I just realized that I made an error during my cuts. I missed Michael Saunders and Matt Weiters where I had intended to drop them. Is it possible to retroactively drop them? Of course, I understand if not.
Thanks,
James

Hi to the new owners. Great to have you on board. More to follow on the draft.

Hello everybody, new to the league and excited for it. March 27th will work for me.
-
Hi all - new to the league and looking forward to it. March 27th is not ideal as I will be out of town that weekend. That said, if that date works best for the majority, I could probably make it work. Later in the day (7 pm EST or later) is best as I am on the west coast. Thanks.

Hi all, would we be able to get feedback from those of you who haven't responded re the draft? About half of us are good with Sunday March 27th.

March 27 works for me too

We need to organise a draft date alright. How would Sunday, March 27th, suit everyone? Around, 6.00/7.00pm ET?

Is a draft planned?

On a related note could the owners of Open and Screamin Jax please confirm if they are in or not as no cuts have been made to these teams? Both are now over the cap limit. If myself or Daniel haven't heard anything by the weekend we'll abandon these rosters so that we can get the league fully occupied and start looking at draft dates ahead of April. Thanks.
-
I just wanted to leave a note to any prospective new owners checking in on this message board that we have a definite nine teams ready to go so the league is in good shape. We'll also be able to facilitate cuts without any cap issues for owners who join between now and the draft. Booming Rollers was abandoned right before the deadline so for any prospective new owner I think it's only fair that they're given a chance in 2016. It should benefit the league overall also.
-
Thanks to everyone who got their cuts in before the deadline. Looks like the average held over is about 20 players per team so the draft should be pretty competitive.

Time's a tickin'

Any update on those confirmed for next year? Please don't hang on to teams if not intending on taking part. Thanks.

Just to check which teams are active as we head towards the keeper deadline of January 31st, can everyone post a message here to confirm that you're on board for playing this year?

Sounds interesting, if people aren't keen on carrying on through to the end of next year we might look at that as an option. Thanks all.

My first league faced a rather high turnover rate too. After a few years of letting new owners come in via the Abandoned Team function, we found new owners in the ottoneu slack group last offseason and 2015 was our most fun year to date. Again, not saying this won't be fun, just offering a tip if y'all found the turnover annoying.
-
My point was I found it surprising many teams weren't making allocation dollars. In all the other leagues I'm in, we find new owners in the 2 weeks after the season ends so that we can have the most $$ allocated every year to keep things even. As it stands now, new owners are at a disadvantage in 2016 here since we were able to put $$ on their teams while they weren't since they got in after Arb ended. It honestly doesn't matter to me, I'm excited to play with this team and wish everybody luck!
-
Oh I'm not saying it'll be easy to win at all. Though this league didn't have a particularly well placing in 2015 :D https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ebpgvuw-J8rk9JA2gZl7yM6a8NNMEuKgETTukXZtIqs/edit#gid=2126633333
-
A couple of years ago, there was data suggesting that this was one of the three most competitive Ottoneu leagues. It may or may not still be up there, but I assure you that you will find this league hard to win.
-
No worries either way, means less arb dollars for our teams this year! Good luck to all this offseason, let's talk about some trades!
-
Interesting. I'm in 4 other ottoneu leagues and only have 2 teams combined that didn't make arb, which is typically the norm for us. Not sure if you're in the ottoneu slack, but I'm sure if you posted the league there you could fill it with owners who would stay committed year round.
-
I assume things will be quiet until January when we've traditionally seen interest pick back up. Keeper deadline is Jan 31st so if people aren't going to play next year it's probably better if they abandon the team a little bit before to allow the new owner to make cuts. That said I tend to forget about baseball for a couple of months myself so if people are unsure whether they'll play next season there's no harm waiting until mid January to decide.
-
Daniel and myself keep the league going regardless. We don't know anyone else in the league so normally we have turnover of a few teams each winter. We don't mind this but do generally ask for new owners who are keen to stay engaged for the full year ahead. Teams tend to get picked up very quickly especially if there's activity and discussion on the message board for prospective new owners to look at.
