Congratulations to your wife. I certainly can be flexible, if others can. I know it is always hard to get everybody to agree on a day and time.

I just found out today that my wife is going to be receiving a community award on the 16th at 7PM and I will not be able to attend the draft. I know it's bad for the "new guy" to ask...but are there other dates available? If not, I will just have to deal with completing my roster through adds after the draft.

16th will work

Finally, the draft date was set for March 16 without much input. Does this work for everyone? If not I can throw together a doodl poll to find a date that works better for everyone.

As for FAAB, there's not really a FAAB budget. You have a $400 budget to spend on your existing players, the draft and in season pickups with a $1 minimum. Any player you cut from here until the end of the season counts as a penalty against that cap at 50% of their signed value. If the player is signed by another team, the penalty is erased. You can also rebid the player and recut after 30 days to reduce the penalty.

Following up on what Bonds said, yes there is a time limit. I think it's 30 sec to nominate, so I would suggest coming in with a strategy/list to are able to make the nom you want. Skipping nominations is not an allowed strategy, and will lock you out of the draft. Once a player is nominated, there is an initial bid window (something like 15 seconds) and a new bid extends the bid time/window by 10 seconds so all owners have time to choose whether they'd like to bid again.

Questions 1. and 2. regard the draft. Question 3. regards post-draft and into September. Sorry for being naive, Ottoneub in terms of mechanic...

Also can trade for $ during the season

Do you mean time limits during the draft or during the season?
During the draft, there is a 30 or 60 second timer for each nomination, and a timer that restarts after each high bid. Like I imagine an actual auction with an auctioneer.
During the season... the salary cap remains. If you spend all of your money at the auction, you will need to make some moves to scrounge up cash for in-season adds. This isn't as hard as it sounds, but something to be aware of

Just a couple of ruminations on issues that I couldn't find in the official Ottoneu rules. 1. Are there time limits for player nominations? 2. Are there time limits on bids for respective nominations? 3. Is FAAB a thing during the regular season? Thanks!

Thank you and done! Looking forward to a great season!

Thanks for the input from everyone, seeing no further opposition BYB will be given his Penalty Free round of cuts.

Maybe it has already been decided but if not I agree that PW should be the Commish. Thanks for volunteering for the position. Also, welcome to the league BYB. I think BYB Should be able to make cuts.

Looking back through the message board the majority posting wish to uphold new owner cuts (Roy, Red, Cats, Rusty, Myself) in the way we’ve done them in the past and the ottoneu charter lays them out. If there’s any additional dissent (WC has already made his clear) or support please post to the message board by 5 pm est today.

For what it's worth, my cut list is based solely on players I inherited that I believe are not worth their salary. Bench riders with maybe a borderline starter or two. I doubt anyone is going to get excited over any of them and certainly FA player pool and team cap budgets had nothing to do with it.
-
To clarify "sensible period" is the term I got back when I reached out for help to ottoneu. The rule in place is assumed for an ownership change during the regular season after the leagues draft has occurred, and not for the specific period we are in for very obvious reason. I'll take a second to introduce myself, I'm Mike, and I'll be a bit of a pain for the next 8 months if you haven't already noticed.

I will be handing over my interim keys to PW. I also favor an owner that's more long standing with better knowledge of this league. However on the subject of PF cuts, a commissioner may grant them provided its a "sensible period". Which it is clearly not. He has knowledge of the true FA player pool and all our cap budgets. That's a significant advantage to have that nobody else was allowed. Very unfair considering his team was reasonably handled for cuts already.

With league approval, I’d be happy to fill the role. I’ve been active in this league for five seasons and am in two other ottoneu leagues. Introductions have been well received so I’ll continue. I’m a 33 year old WASP from St Louis, Mo and a lifelong Cardinals fan. I was introduced to Mlbtraderumors in college and found Fangraphs shortly there after. A wife and 3 small kids later and I still enjoy ottoneu and am well versed in the nuances. Looking forward to the draft and upcoming year.

I’ll vote for PW. In my short stint here he seems very active and also seems to use basic reason and sense.
-
Everyone agrees to re roster my guys, can we please move on? This is getting obnoxious.
-
Furthermore (and too ease the atmosphere of the past 24 hours), I'd like to reciprocate BYB's gesture of introducing himself to the league by formally doing the same myself. I'm a lifelong Mets fan from New Haven, CT who was introduced to this hobby by my 7th grade math teacher in 1988. I haven't looked back since. Aside from the NFBC and Ottoneu, I've participated in numerous formats on multiple platforms throughout the decades. Can't wait for the draft...
-
BYB should 100% be able to cut to players as a new owner
-
If he's willing to do it, I would nominate Perfect Warrior to be commish.

Rules exist for a reason. Red should have to re-roster his infamous five and BYB should be allowed to make the cuts allowed for a new owner. There should be vote for the new commissioner. As an Ottoneu rookie...I am not qualified for that said role.

As both BYB and Rusty have pointed out, new owner cuts are a part of the ottoneu rules and should be allowed.

I completely understand that my being able to make cuts can be seen as an advantage, particularly since camps have started. If the league can come to a decision quickly, I'll make my cuts immediately.
-
I agree we vote on a commissioner. Why don't we have people throw their hat in the ring in the next 24 hours and then vote? As for BYB- how can we keep him from doing his cuts? How its fair to even vote on that. As he said, its in the league rules and he didn't get the benefit of making pre-1/31 cuts. Its his team now, he should get full control. I also still fail to see the great advantage gained by making cuts now other than maybe 2-3 guys who have gotten hurt since camp opened.

I'll abide by whatever the league decides, but I just want to comment that it is more than "standard practice" to allow a round of cuts to a new owner. It is spelled out in the rules (V.i.). I will abstain from the vote about Red.
-
The first thing we should do is vote on a new commissioner. Several of us have played in this league for a number of years. This will be my fifth and a number of others have been owners longer than I. We’ve invested significant time into our teams and deserve a say in who is commissioner, as does every owner.

Same vote goes for allowing penalty free cuts for the new owner. Bless You Boys and I will not get a vote in this, but if 6 out of the 10 remaining owners want to allow him to make penalty free cuts I will allow that to happen. While it is a standard practice to allow one round of such cuts, the timing of the ownership transfer to post keeper deadline and pre-draft could be rather advantageous in the minds of ownership.

Commissioner tools have been vested to me. I am a stern commissioner but I am also fair. I work only in the service and interests of the other owners. My first action will be to collect a vote on whether or not Red has to take his players cut on 2/2 back or not. Red will not be given a vote for this, neither will I as act without bias in this position. If 6 of the remaining 10 owners or more vote he has to take them back then they go back. Otherwise they stay free agents.
