Here is the link for MiLB rosters and draft tracking. Draft order for round 1 is inverse order of finish from last year, and snakes from there. Hats is up, Rusty on deck, Canha in the hole. Full draft order is in the google sheet. You have 12 hours to make a pick, please try to make it sooner but we have time for leeway if special circumstances arise. Hope all are healthy. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DEsp46OpCmUz2aev0mfkmpKF1GbvDfN7FeU1Ulkltos/edit?usp=sharing

I was hoping to start this next season, that's where I left off. What's happening?

I'll remove Groshans from whatever roster he ends up on so he remains eligible for the MILB draft. If you don't have emails set up for message board notifications, I would suggest enabling those while the draft is going on so you know who has been taken and when you are up.

Let's go for the MiLB draft, the feedback has been in support and will help fill the gap. I'll get a google sheet set up for tracking the draft. In the meantime, please refrain from nominating minor leaguers until the draft is over. Any minor leaguer cut between now and the beginning of the draft will not be eligible for the draft. We'll shoot for Wednesday evening begin, each player has 12 hours to make a selection. Please don't use the full 12 hours if you can help it.

I'm the one who mentioned it during the draft. Why not? Regardless, how is everyone doing? All things considered...

I'm ok either way on the milb roster

I have some interest in the minor league players. Since this is my first year in otto I would at least like to get a year under my belt before having to expand my player knowledge. Is there a way to have 5 spots for college players? I mean, Vanderbilt, littered with potential pros...guys I can sign for only a dollar in 5-8 years if I play my cards right.

I'd be up for milb rosters. I've done 5, 10 and even a 15-milb before
-
Had an owner reach out about adding 5 MiLB to the league. For those not familiar, the 5 MiLB structure exists outside of the 40 man roster and allows owners to own minor league players at no cost. Players are selected through a slow snake draft based off of last year's finish order. More details on the structure can be found here https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/ottoneu-101-the-5milb-structure/. What's our interest level?

Hope everyone is excited! Just an FYI, the draft is open so you can begin building your watchlist and planning for nominations. There are a number of videos on YouTube for anyone looking to see a live draft before it happens. Good luck to all, we’ll start right at 7 pm EST.

If there's no huge opposition, let's plan on keeping the draft on Monday night seeing as it's worked into all of our schedules already. The situation is certainly unprecedented but could lend itself to a bit of extra strategy. Drafting now gives ample time for trades, auctions and the like. We could even explore adding a 5 MilB squad during the down time if there's interest.

I would probably prefer to go ahead and just draft (so we can all spend our quarantines working on deals). But whatever you decide commish I'm on board.

I’m fine either way. There are some advantages to waiting like clearer injury updates but if it’s easier to maintain the date, then let’s do that.
-
My preference would be to keep the draft date but I don’t have a strong feeling about it. So far the preference seems to be to delay the draft, which I’m fine with.

I would also prefer to delay the draft until we get an idea of when baseball-related activities will resume
-
If you wanted to keep the current date that's fine by me. I would lean towards delaying the draft until things develop more. We are in uncharted territory now.

Thanks for the quick response. I suppose that my question would apply more to leagues with a seasonal redraft format. I was thinking about the $1-5 fringey guys who haven't been optioned to the minors yet. Good thoughts from Connecticut...
-
I have, open to input on when the draft should be. My other league that has yet to draft had discussion today, no one seemed to have a strong opinion one way or the other. The benefit of keeping it now, would be the ease of scheduling. Waiting until later may give more clarity to player values, especially those that are currently hurt. Let me hear your thoughts on draft day.

Considering the surrealism of the past 24 hours, (Perfect Warrior) have you had any thoughts of postponing the draft until the MLB brass gives a more definitive sense of when opening day is actually going to occur. I've been reading that the delay could be anywhere from two weeks, to two months, etc.. Hoping the best for everyone...

Welcome to the league, no issue with drafting distracted here. Just make sure not to miss nominations when you’re up. Feel free to reach out if you need anything while learning the ottoneu format. Seeing that you’ve played FB for awhile, I think you’ll enjoy it. As a new owner, you are entitled to one round of penalty free cuts. Your team is in great shape compared to most that are abandoned, so there’s not much pruning left to do but if there is anyone you plan to cut please do so in the next

I will have access to both my phone and laptop a lot but I won't be able to give 100% of my time to the auction. If you guys are comfortable with that, great. If not, maybe there's an alternative or feel free to remove me commissioner.
-
Hey everyone! My name is Adam and I did claim the open team which looks like a fun one to try and turn into a contender. I'm brand-new to Ottoneu, but I am a fantasy baseball veteran who actually writes about fantasy baseball on the side. I did miss the draft date and time when I claimed this team and I, unfortunately, work the night of the 16th beginning at 7:30 PM.
-
Draft Update. We will keep the original time and date. March 16 @ 7 pm EST. BYB can’t make it and will abandon his team. If you know of anyone interested, please let them know the team is available and paid for 2020 already.

Dude, I don't know who you think you are, but you are insanely out of line (to belittle a member wanting to support his wife for an awesome achievement). Okay BYB reached out and said he can make a 9 pm EST on the 16th. This would allow us to keep the original draft date. We should be able to get the draft done in 3 ish hours if all come prepared. Does this work for all?

I disagree with your sentiment that family is not a worthy obligation. It’s the most important part of many of our lives, including mine. Further, the original draft date was set without input. You only gave us two days to work with, that makes it very difficult to get 12 people together. The 16th might still be the best date, it might not. We’re trying to figure it out so that ALL can participate.
