• We have two openings to fill during the off-season. Durham wrote and stated he's too busy to continue. Blood has been missing since August and has not responded to any messages. Hopefully we can get two new owners in place before cuts and there will be baseball in the spring. My thought is to not schedule the auction until the CBA is resolved.

• I honestly didn't know which side criticism might come from on this one. I know I'm one of the teams involved but it does seem to be the classic high salary older star vs cheap prospects question. I happened to have a lot of top end prospects but need players who will help now, a current ace in particular. So I moved my kids and will hope for the best. But come the offseason, I'll now certainly need to trade at least one higher salary guy to stay feasible heading into next year.

• i looked at the "contending" teams' rosters and they aren't chocked full of players that would contribute in the future who aren't contributing now. cole is a great player, no doubt. but his salary average for ottoneu which means his surplus value probably isn't crazy high. and with the high salary, it makes it harder to make him a keeper. if other owners are out there who are willing to give up more for some of my other high salary guys, i'm all ears

• I get future value trades, done many myself. Cole's value is as high as any player in the league. I rarely veto a trade, people can make their own value judgements, I just thought this was an under market price deal.

• Damage, I kind of agree with you about closer to the opening of the season but the reality of it is I am in other leagues and I have other drafts on the 20th and 21 both at 3PM. So, if you chose and draft times that overlap I have a problem.

• That weekend of March 13/14 won’t work for me; the Mrs turns 50 on the 13th and we’re doing a weekend getaway. And honestly I’d rather wait until closer to the opening of the season if possible. I’ll try to put together a poll and get it out this evening to get a feel for what works best for everyone. Then we can try to lock in a date and time this week.
