I've also changed my mind on the draft. I'd like it postponed.

I would like to bring up the topic of draft day again. When the original post was posted I did not care either way. The thinking at the time was the season would start around mid-late April(I thought). More recent news came out Monday that the season will be delayed at least 8 weeks based on the recommendation from the CDC. The season may not start until late May, but possibly longer if they need to have a 2nd Spring training. I propose we delay the draft based on the new information.
-
Ok, everyone who responded wants to keep the draft. So that’s what we’ll do.
-
I'm bummed out too. I've waited all winter.
If we cancel the draft I don't know what I'll do
-
Draft. We can get refunds even after the draft but before season starts
-
If the date works for everyone, then I say draft. It is hard to find a good draft date.

Hi everyone - To me, holding an auction for a season shrouded in uncertainty feels like the wrong move, and not very fun. I think we should postpone. Tell me what you think.
-
Ottoneu offers an expansive universe – you can "own" almost any player with a contract – and of course teams are pursuing a variety of distinct plans. So if you believe in Kimbrel, maybe nominate him before Chapman and Jansen, whom people will be saving their $ for. Or maybe you're targeting Kristian Robinson but you think Jasson Dominguez sucks. So you nom the latter and smile self-righteously as people waste their energy on the wrong teenage wunderkind.
-
The nomination is simple – choose a player off the list and then click – then everyone bids on him until we have a winner. Then the next guy is nominated and so on. If you've done a fantasy sports auction before, it'll feel familiar right away. If not, you might want to do a mock auction on Yahoo. It won't be quite the same but it'll give you the feel. It'll take several hours – some people come in with their list of targets, do all their shopping early then sign off.
-
How long does draft typically take? Is there a draft rule sheet or anything I can look at to prep? Or describe nomination, how long on clock etc? First timer sorry...

Live draft. Pre-make those bottles!
-
Are we doing the slow draft? The 24th is fine but my oldest goes to bed between 730 and 8 so I may busy with the newborn at the beginning of it

Sorry. I joined two many leagues. Can't keep track of which message board I'm on.
-
Ronny's Rebels tryin to kill me. We're set for the 24th. I'll be the drunk guy driving up the price of SP4s and closer handcuffs.
-
OOOPs 24th is this league. I'm okay lol
-
Currently I have Drafts on 2/15 March 8th 15th and 24th
-
I’ll make it work
-
That should be fine.

I count nine who can do the 24th at 830. Drinkers? Entrepreneurs? Boomer?

I can do march 24 at 830 pm

I agree. Live draft is the way to go. I can do 3/24 at 8:30.

I am flexible. Pick a day/time and I will make it work.

24/25 good for me
-
Extremely strong preference for live draft for me. I am concerned about Seek & Destroy's hours, though, that seems to put a big limit on our "normal" draft times. That said, 3/24 and 3/25 8:30pm do work for me.

If we can do a two hour live draft for a few days.
We could be done in three or four days.
I would not favor a blind auction
-
I don't like the blind bid at all. If no one want's to do a slow auction than just stick with the regular format.

Ok, so we have a few different ideas here. I like The Future's take - to basically spike the auction and start the normal bidding process early – but I need to know whether a majority of the community wants it. Let me know within the next few days. Otherwise, if we opt for the visceral thrill of bidding/buying at a singular draft-style event, I think we should just do one of them. We'll find a time that works for most, and hopefully all, owners.
-
I agree. Should we make a doodle for choosing dates? I can work on creating one if that would be helpful
-
It might be easier to agree on an two hour window tha nan 8 hour window
-
We can try to hold auction on several different days so that each draft would only take an hour or two.
-
Gentlemans agreement no noms within 15 mins of the previous nom?

Gotcha but What are the odds two players are nominated at the same time and how is this different than in season auctions?

I was working through the exact same thought process. The auctions would need to be spaced out somewhat.

That's good but if more than one player is up for bid at the same time we'd have no idea how much money we have left after bidding on first player. Example if first player is Trout how much can you bid on Machado or Betts?
-
It could make for a fun few weeks instead or one late night slog

Just an idea...a conversation starter perhaps. With people all over the country and busy work schedules, what if we didnt have a “draft day”. Instead we just auction off players starting march 1 like we would in season. Everyone can nominate at most 1 player per 24 hour period. And we all blind bid on the nominated players. That way we dont all have to be present for one...endless...chunk of time.
