Speaking of which, I just got home and checked on my new guy Joe Ross. He’s on double secret probation and I have my finger on the trigger. One more dong tonight and he’s gone.

But I won’t cut Giolito, despite today’s debacle. Only those who are “acceptable losses”
-
Bombo - believe me I thought about it
-
Yep, we call them spite cuts. I've developed a reputation. My players better not mess with me or they'll get the ax. Good thing this doesn't apply to the IL. Not yet, anyway.

A Bombo move would’ve been for me to cut Ynoa after he gave up 3 HRs in the first 3 innings on Sat in his first start after I overpaid for him in auction.
-
I saw that! It's Cubs pitchers. It was Hamel that I cut a few years ago fifth inning, just after he had given up his fifth homer of the game. One doesn't forget those things.

Bombo - had to cut Tepera mid-game, just to give you a laugh

Good article on the origin story of ottoneu: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/04/13/ottoneu-fantasy-baseball-niv-shah/.

I think I’ve had doubleheaders with 21 swings and misses
-
Interesting stat I heard today in this era of hitting 30 HRs and striking out 200 times in a season. In his first 120+ at bats in his young career, Nick Madrigal of the White Sox has a total of 21 swings and misses. There may be a few players creeping up on 21 strikeouts for the season so far.

Despite the injury woes, you’re leading the pack, Mark! Nicely done so far
-
I think 12 on the IL is the most I can remember a team having - certainly at this stage of the season.
-
With all my guys pig piling on the DL, thinking it’s a contest to see who may get there fastest (three more in the last two days) I actually had a dream last night that Soler also hit the list. I had to check and make sure he didn’t. A Rozarena was dead on, when he said the DL would be filled this year.

Owners - for the purpose of full disclosure, an owner mistakenly cut a player he’d just won at auction. I confirmed it was a mistake and made the roster adjustments necessary to fix. In case you were tracking moves and wondering, that’s what happened.

i agree with below. i am also vetoing this trade

I was informed that the loan amount is what was intended. I also vetoed. But basically we’ve never had a trade vetoed. Would take I think 7 owners vetoing . Not likely-
-
I am not a big believer in vetoing trades but this will be the first trade I plan to veto since joining the league. Acuna is one of the best in the league and there isn’t anything close to sniffing his value in that deal
-
Another trade where the loan amount is too much.
-
Tough day for a couple guys. Royals designate Scott Blewett for assignment. Guess you could say he... nah, too easy. Well, hopefully after his DL stint, Astros Andre Scrubb has a chance to get off the bench. I’m sure Mickey Klutts would offer his condolences to these guys, if asked.

Smart general managers have depth. Bombo is a smart GM. I’m guessing you weather the storm and are competing in September, as always
-
I thought of you when I saw that news Bombo, but then thought Cron’s gonna hit 35 dingers this year, and you’ll be fine
-
Yeah, do I laugh or cry at this point? Eloy out 5 to 6 months and now Voit has a torn meniscus. I can understand if this happened during the season, but this is ridiculous.

I suspect the 2021 DL will be littered with bodies as people get back to a full 162 game season
-
I hear the train a coming, it’s rollin round the bend, I ain’t seen the DL so full, since I don’t know when... Yates, Eloy, Rogers, Valdez, Carrasco. I think we’re at the limit now.

Just a heads up to everyone that Cole is available at any point this year if the deal's right.

Bombo- Chicago born and raised. Looking forward to actually having some money to spend at auction (I usually have a short stack...), but most certainly in rebuild mode for next year. I entered one of my other teams into the OPL, best ball is fun as you don’t have to worry about actually setting a lineup, you just get max possible score everyday.
-
Also, welcome to Santo. Sounds like another Chicago guy. I lived down there for six years, so a semi Chicagoan. I see he has $235 to spend at auction, should be interesting with that much cash. Good luck to all.

Hey all, baseball is back! Finally. Seemed like such a long offseason, partly I suppose due to such a short, odd year last year. New year, new hope. Just wondering if anyone has looked into this new Ottoneu Prestige League? It says it plays off our team here. Looks like they'll drop teams each month from the competition, so better not have any slow starts. Sounds interesting. Almost plays like the global standings, but with a contest of needing to stay high enough that you don't get cut.

Of course. The goal is to have all 12 teams at the auction. It’s been a few years since we’ve had that

thanks for changing.

8pm CST start is fine for me. Understand that's easier for the ones with smaller kids. Let me know if anyone objects. My only risk is that I'm a creaky old man and might fall asleep

I would prefer 8pm too but will do whatever works for the group

Here is the official word:
“In 2020, players can gain position eligibility, but no player will lose position eligibility for 2021. Going into 2021, position eligibility will be based on 2019 and 2020 games played. Assuming a full 2021 MLB season, going into 2022 position eligibility will be based on 2021 games played.“
-
Monti - position eligibility is listed for every player already - whatever is listed is for 2021. I'm virtually certain it's based on 2019 and not 2020 (e.g. Sano didn't play an inning of 3B in 2020 but retains eligibility at that position). Ottoneu decided it made more sense to defer to the prior full season. There's stuff on this in the community forum.
-
I am curious on how we will determine position eligibility for 2021. Will we uses 2020 games played or 2019 games played or a mixture of both years?
-
Auction date and 24 hour trade approval are fine with me

24 hour trade approval ok by me

Either is ok for me
-
I am fine with either Sunday also
-
Either date works fine for me. Looking forward to a more normal-ish baseball season. Hopefully.
-
Sorry for delayed reply. I CAN do the 21st. I probably cannot do the 28th (or that weekend) if that comes back on the table. But the 21st is good.
-
Thanks for the replies so far. At this point can any one definitely NOT make the 21st? If not (sorry for the double negative) I’ll pencil that in
-
At the moment, either night works for me in the evening (after 6pm central)

I vote for the 21st as a place holder as I already have an auction on the books for the night of the 28th.

Welcome to the league, Santo!
