What's the status of this league? I know we have at least 2 people not returning, do we know if there are others?
-
Congrats to AFC Richmond on the victory, btw -- and happy arbitration, y'all!
-
Just a heads up here... the owners of Cruz Control will not be returning to the league. Thanks for the opportunity!

Happy Trade Deadline Day - I'm up for talking trades. Send me a message here or on slack @bkucko
-
I'm not going to ragecut Hader, but if anyone's interested in acquiring him this is definitely the time to do so (:
-
Except C and 3B*. Why can't I type correctly on this board anymore?
-
I'm also up for acquiring some rentals, pretty much any position except C and 1B. Rodon would require a motherlode but Holmes, Rocker, et al. would come cheaper.
-
Still looking to make some trades. I'm looking to trade from my SP surplus for some OF depth. Please reach out here or on slack @bkucko.
Thanks!
-
I'm going to be leaving this league at season's end, or sooner if someone wants my team. It's been a great run, but I'm done. Thank you all!
-
As evidenced by the fact that I misspelled Sheryl’s name. Monday!
-
(just to be clear, this was not planned)
-
Pleasure as always to trade, Cheryl :D
-
Selling at this point because my team took a crap as soon as I acquired Trout lol. Looking for young assets and keepers.
-
Looking to move some of my youth/prospects for the final run. Could also look at trading Buehler to a team wanting him at a reasonable rate for 2023.
-
Looking to move two of Snell, Monty, and Anderson for relief and shortstop help.
-
If anyone wants to make me terrible offers for Trea again, I'm listening. :)
-
2/2 I'm not sure what people think is a proper return for Trout here, but I don't think anyone would/could have met that price, even if Donk waited another month.
-
I agree w/ Redheads here. All the leagues that I am in are dynasty/deep keeper, and these types of trades are very common. I'm not sure what a team like Donk is supposed to do if they know they aren't keeping Trout and want a few assets that they know they'll keep. Trading Trout to a team like Sheryl's almost guarantees that he'll be back in the pool for the spring auction, so Donk will have a chance to get Trout back that way, especially with financial flexibility that he has now. 1/2
-
ng to keep for younger players they will keep. And often times the teams trading the veterans include salary to get a better prospect haul.
-
Personally, I don't have an issue with this trade. Would I have taken it if I were giving up Trout and Nola, no but everyone has different values on players and if you view Chisolm as a building block type player than I can see it.
Unfortunately or not, these trades are typical in every keeper league I've been in, not just Ottoneu leagues. And the reality is that these deals do happen in real life. Tanking/rebuilding teams consistently make trades where they give up veterans they aren
-
And, if the league vetoes the deal, that's fine. I'll go back to the drawing board.

Not to defend my position here too much, but based on what I was being offered and other trades I have seen so far this year, this seemed within reason for two guys I probably wasn't keeping (maybe Nola depending on price hikes) for a young player who has star upside, a young pitcher who might actually be good and a good P prospect. I don't personally see it as too dissimilar from Baz+ for Harper and $ less than a month ago.

We’re intending to leave the league at years end… If you can find a suitable replacement you’re welcome to do so sooner. We’ll run our team with the utmost fidelity until then

I get the rebuild/competing thing but Sheryl coming out $9 ahead there on salary too is ludicrous. Full transparency - I vetoed

This is outrageous. I understand the parallels here. Competing teams trade for loaners and non-competing teams look to use that to re-build. However, in the real world, I don't believe the team trading for rentals takes on humungous salary overages. It's absurd. It's an Ottoneu flaw. I love the competitiveness, but all of this before the All-Star break? It's some bullshit. Does anyone want to trade me 2 superstars for scrubs and an injury? That seems like the only way to compete.
-
I’m in need of healthy arms - starters and relievers!
-
Still looking to flip my MI depth for a SP or big bat.
-
Niv reversed the loan, and I have reset Trea and Pepiot's salaries to the correct amounts, so everything should be good now. Sheryl, looks like you're only illegal now because of the $7 Conforto add, which is unrelated to the trade stuff.
-
Problem is now it shows my roster as illegal. Can you fix that?
-
The only way for me to reverse the trade was to go in and cut the players from the "new" teams and add them back to the old teams. But doing that did not reverse the loan aspect of it, so I have adjusted the salaries of Pepiot and Turner for the time being to account for that. I have emailed Niv to see if there's something he can do from his end to help with this.
-
Well, with Sheryl's approval, I guess I'll reverse it.
-
FWIW, I have no problem reversing it. Like I said, I think we all would have accepted it if offered.
-
New guy here with a tendency to stay out of all these things (the Minnesotan in me) but I feel like there’s this much controversy around a trade, a reversal feels like a pretty easy call. I believe we apathetically abstained as well, but would’ve voted to veto (perhaps we did, not sure what my co-owner did)

Not sure how to proceed here. If Pressed Ham would have made 7 vetoes, that would be enough, and I can reverse the trade. I don't want to be unfair to Sheryl, but I also want to be fair to the league.
-
to be completely honest: there are so many transactions made in this league that i stop paying attention purely from brute force. i feel like i am being beaten over the head by transactions. so the only reason i abstained is purely fatigue. but i would have vetoed too.
-
Just saw that too. I’ve never seen a veto in an Ottoneu league, but that is the closest I’ve ever seen!
-
For the sake of full transparency, the voting on the trade was 2 Approve, 6 Veto, 4 Abstain. The normal Ottoneu rules state that 7 votes are required to veto (50% +1), but given the unusual number of vetoes and the discussion around this trade I wanted to at least bring this up here.
-
I guess I don't have an better argument than to say I'm erratic and not very good at fantasy baseball. If people think it's a bad deal, I encourage people to vote against it ASAP.
-
If the league wants to cancel the deal, I'm fine with it. It was proposed to me, I accepted because I thought it makes my team better, and I think we'd all accept that deal if it was proposed to us.
-
I’m going to be honest, that’s a really, really weak argument. First, the trade deadline in this league is August 1st. That gives you another month and a half to shop Turner. More importantly, though, is the fact that you proposed the trade (the top team in an accepted trade is the one that proposes it)- it wasn’t an offer you received.
-
I’ll remind everyone that there is a veto system for trades in this league. If enough people think that this is a bad trade, they can vote against it and it will be overturned.
-
It’s a trade that gets accepted because Trea was on the block for a long time, I didn’t receive other offers that price, I’m selling, and I’m not keeping him at his current price. Also, I’ve been on the road for basically the entire baseball season and am only able to be active in researching about one day a week, which is why I didn’t bid on the prospects.
-
Oh, and a $37 loan that covers almost all of Turner’s salary.
-
How is that a trade that gets accepted? Jeff McNeil and two minor leaguers that got picked up in the last 3 days for Trea Turner and Soler? Two minor leaguers, by the way, that Razor Shines didn’t even bid on when they were up for auction in the last week.
-
Looking to package Taylor and McNeil for a stud bat, or will add Gausman for an elite starter.
-
Sheryl Ring, queen of arbitrage.
-
Looking to deal a couple of RPs for an OF.
