I like the 2 starts per day system. It is closer to a real daily baseball lineup.

Usually, the keeper deadline in Ottoneu is 1/31, so would presume it's the same. We're all for the suggested rule change, but with being new to the league, we'll do whatever the majority wants.
-
Also I had a suggested rule change. What would you all feel about changing our SP game start cap. Instead of doing a cap of two per day we do a weekly cap of ten instead(or whatever number the league agreed on). I found that if you had more than two starters going on the same day and your opponents starts were spread out over the week than they had a big advantage.

Hey so i see per the rules the next cut off date is keeper deadline. Do we know what date that is?

Are the Sharks and Hens still with us? Can we do a roll call or something to confirm who's coming back? I'm already paid up for the season and hope to add another trophy emoji to my team name in 2025 ;)

Hello all, I claimed the Expos team (name change incoming later) and am an Ottoneu veteran that got back into it in 2024. I have played H2H before, but not in Ottoneu. However, I don't anticipate too much of a learning curve. I usually play with a co-owner (unless we are in the same league), so I may have another person joining me pending if he wants to play some H2H. Looking forward to playing with you all! I'll take a look later to see if I have to change any arb, haha.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed my experience in the league, but I no longer have the necessary time to continue managing my team. I've completed my arbitration and I wish to abandon my team effective immediately (@The AquaSox). Good luck for the future!

Congrats to you as well, Dine-Nasty! Coming out of the draft I thought you were the team to beat, so it felt right that it literally played out that way for me. Great job to El Prez and Oakland as well! You guys were in a league of your own most of the season. Lesson learned for me is don’t give up on your team... I was 8-6 the week before the ASG and didn’t lose again. I guess I no longer have to feel shameful for having that trophy in my team name. 🏆
Now I just need to add to

With the mlb season extended, the last “few” waiver auctions were also extended (or else they wouldn’t have made it)

Congrats to our winners, 1st place Emy, 2nd place Dine Nasty and 3rd place Oakland…super competitive and tight matches all the way
In fact, the entire season was a dogfight as our top 4 teams built juggernauts (glad i could muster like 4 wins)
Thanks to all for making it a successful year
Please keep an eye out for arbitration, which I’ll post more about here shortly

well, 2 starts a day (max). My other playoff set-ups are 10 starts a week. With 2 starts a day, you can get 14 starts a week (if the stars align!)

Musgrove tonight and Rodon tomorrow will be crucial, your fate is in their hands. I’m out of starting pitchers from now on. Our duel will be very tight until tomorrow. Good luck, and may the best win!
-
This is going to be a nail biting finish
-
I think if it's a rule, then let's stick with it... Minimal time should go by... 24 hours max
-
How about: Teams will have 1 week to be come compliant or the commish drops players from the out of compliance team in reverse order of those players being added. I haven’t seen anyone do this. In any league

No, it would not

So if I started 20 bids right now, and say I won the first one and it put me over the payroll limit, it wouldn't cancel my other 19 bids?
Manfred's Mans on

Strategy could be... Find 50+ AA talents that have a shot at making the team in the spring... Bid now, decide later
-
Is what the 4th paragraph saying even possible? It says once you go over roster limit or payroll limit that you cant bid in auctions anymore. So how would someone get 60+ rosters or $700 payrolls(using the articles example). Wouldn't they be stopped from doing that the moment the go to high on one of those two criteria?

Re: the 4th paragraph, I was not aware that this was even a thing. If so, I'm not cool with that at all. I assumed the $400 cap always applied. Agree with El Prez that we should establish guidelines asap so this is clear to everyone. I'd hate to see the league go into the offseason with something like that happening.

I don't know why we have to establish additional guidelines. But what "guidelines" are you thinking?
However, one point from the strategy type post that was referenced is that when the baseball regular season is up, that is the end of our ability to bid on players, cut players, etc....so everyone should stay involved & have all claims COMPLETED before midnight on the last day of the MLB regular season. That post also addresses the prior issue we addresses (i.e.

Guys, we are a first-year league and the end of season is approaching. Read the first 6 paragraphs of this post: https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/final-week-ottoneu-auctions-cuts/ It's crucial to establish clear, agreed-upon guidelines on this matter in advance. Issues can arise, and it's much better to be on the same page now than to handle disagreements after they happen. Aquasox, what do you think?

My feeling is any deviation from the standard rules should be discussed and voted on in the offseason so everyone knows what they are getting into...including any roster freeze or trade vetoes outside of the standard Otto system. It is a matter of fairness to all. I myself am in favor of the standard rules as is. I see no reason to stop drops and adds just because the playoffs have started. And if a star is dropped...bid.

(part 2)....we'd have to agree to that in advance as it's a departure from the set-up and I'm not a fan. But, we should create a rule in future years to do something about the potential impact player that's dropped to save salary (though each playoff team would have the chance to bid, so maybe nothing needs to be done on that front either)

Looking over the discussions about Dine-Nasty's proposal...Niv was initially in favor of stopping auctions during our playoffs so non-playoff teams wouldn't drop high priced guys for MiLB players. But, because of the desire to keep players involved and allowing teams to account for injuries and September call ups, the change was never implemented. if it was to be implemented, it would be a roster freeze (which obviously hasn't happened). While a league could voluntarily agree to freeze..

Otto attempts to mirror baseball and i looked other posts and there are no limits like the one Dine-Nasty proposes and no other Ottoneu league I've been involved in has done so. The section v.h. referenced above is a reference to the MLB regular season (not ours). Otherwise, the system would cut off just like it does with trades.

Otto rule V.h. states that player auctions are permitted until the end of the MLB regular season. "MLB" is not in the sentence but that is the regular season to which the rules refer. Any team can continue to cut and add via auction. That is why there was a trade deadline on Saturday rather than a roster move deadline. I have never seen an Otto league that limits roster moves when the playoffs begin.
