Thanks everyone. Just wanted to be responsible for my own off-season moves.
-
Iām fine with it
-
I agree with the cuts back

Fine with me on adding the cuts back.

I am open to adding back the cuts as long as the league is fine with it. Thoughts?
-
Open to all offers. Trying to overhaul this team. Send any thoughts. Willing to work on any deal
-
Hello everyone, new owner here. Couple questions. Am I able to re-add some of the players that were cut (in the offseason) from my team before I joined. Also, do we have any idea when the draft might occur. Thanks
-
Hey everyone, I'm sorry to say but I'll be leaving this league. With pandemic life still running strong I just don't have time to manage as many teams as I have and this league drew the short straw. Luckily I think the team has enough keepable assets that finding a new manager shouldn't be too hard. Best of luck!
-
I will be back. I was in the hospital for quite a while. Send those offers. I will be competing
-
Last reminder for arbitration. It's due today!
-
Please note that Arbitration is due by Saturday, Nov. 14th. Make sure you have all $25 allocated!
-
Thanks! I'm glad none of you took me up on my attempts to sell before I decided to buy ;)
-
Congrats Wahoo on the title. Looking forward to climbing out of the cellar next season!
-
Congrats to champ Wahoo and also to Bohica and Geriatrics and big thank you to Commishes. Hope everybody stays in the league. It was a nice passtime having back baseball and Ottoneu in these difficult times, be safe everyone.
-
Great battle for second place BOHICA. Fun season everyone!
-
Fun short season guys, congratulations to Wahoo! for the Championship win!

Anyone looking to deal? Iām a cellar dweller looking towards next season...

Brainiacs log: Hey I finally have a functional bullpen. Probably too little, too late, but also I am well-positioned for 2021, I only need to shed one player and $19 to field a complete team, even if I draw maximum arb and the couple of true prospects I have are called up and have a full cost increase. (Assuming that we have a 2021 season.)

I got 4 cheap players with upside for 3 guys that I wouldn't have kept going into next season. I would have loved to have gotten more but certainly feel I'm better off with Olson, Biggio, Howard and Martin at their contacts going into next season.
-
Listen I'm good with people doing whatever they want with their teams and props to you Wahoo. I think you crushed in that trade. Just though Law Office should have gotten more for those guys.

Yes because a $4 Biggio, $1 Hower and $3 Martin don't have any value /s
-
seems like an awful lot to give up for essentially matt Olsen?

Well, actually, it's the other way around Usual Suspects got future talent and Wahoo gets the big studs, time will say, good luck to both of you (but not too much...lol)
-
You mean a blockbuster trade, not happy because Usual Suspects (right behind me) gets a lot of big talent in that trade, well life goes on. Stay safe people
-
Huge trade!!
-
That would be something Niv would decide. I don't know that anything is decided at this point, and hopefully we get the season in.
-
Do we have the option (at the very least vote on) to return the league buy in this year to each owner if the season abruptly ends? Looking more and more likely...Since the buy in is handled through Ottoneu Iām not sure how that works but I would think there should be a way.

With no baseball to distract me, I wrote a recap of an MLB Survivor game played in the EW FB group: http://www.banishedtothepen.com/the-2020-effectively-wild-survivor-game-recap/

Good job Brainiacs, tks
-
I've got 13 spots to fill so some depth will come. However, my roster is at the end of it's competitive cycle, if it's not past it. Had a good 3 year run
-
Appreciate the analysis, it's fun to read but I gotta say though BOCHIA has the best team by a fairly large margin.
-
That's all I have - hope you enjoyed and best of luck for the 2020 season!

9. Freaks - absolutely average in every metric. 10. Uncle Charlie - hitting looks weaker than he'd like but the pitching is great. I gave him a replacement level bench which is weak. 11. Aging & Expensive Roster - Excellent hitting and average pitching, weak bench. 12. Musial Standard - weak hitting and bench, average pitching - this is the team with the most prospects and I think is in the middle of rebuilding (As close to a rebuilding team as we have this relatively even season.)

5. Law Offices of Babip, Pecota, Vorp - excellent pitching, no weaknesses. 6. Wahoo! - best overall hitting in the league, slightly shallow bench. 7. Big Papi memories - no weaknesses and a deep bench. 8. Ichiro's Geriatrics - absolutely average in every metric.

Here are my conclusions: 1. top dog - The Barsi Boys. Strengths are elite pitching and a deep bench. 2. Rotor City Brainiacs - no real weaknesses and the deepeest bench in the league. (Keep in mind that my own projection should favor me, so I probably won't do as well as this method predicts.) 3. The Usual Suspects - no weaknesses and terrific hitting. 4. BOHICA - strong and balanced hitting and pitching, shallow bench.

A couple of our managers don't have full rosters - for those teams I supplement their totals with replacement level players and give them a replacement-level bench. It's always better to have a drafted team, but the replacement-level supplements make the comparison a little fairer, in my opinion.

So everyone is in the hunt and anyone could win, in my opinion. Now I'll try to guess at who is favored. Method - I construct an optimal roster for each team based on my projection, a complete team of position players and pitchers. I add up totals for hitting and pitching. Then I look at everyone's active (non-prospect, non-injured) bench. I grant full points for the main roster and half points for the bench, that gives me a grand total and three factors I can analyze.

2. The most expensive player in the draft was Nolan Arenado at $52, which I can convert to $34 in (260/400 = .65 * 52 = 33.8) in more standard player valuation. That's reasonably close to his Baseball Forecaster valuation, for instance. Typically we have a couple players bid into the $80s, this year the bidding was all what I'd consider restrained and reasonable.

This year is remarkable for a couple reasons. 1. League parity - I don't think we've gone into a season with this little difference between the team that has the best projected points total and the least. The best is 19975. The worst is 17039. That is historically close, and I speculate the reason is that no teams are carrying a large surplus of prospects and obviously in rebuilding mode. This season it looks like everyone is playing to win this year. At least so far.

Hi Rivals, some of you are new this year, welcome to the league. If you scroll through this feed, you'll see that every season I post some kind of post-draft analysis and construct a "power-ranking" of the teams that is probably inaccurate. My analysis is adding up all the points for each team on my projection and playing around it a bit until I get something that looks reasonable, then I post it here where it's mostly ignored. (The appropriate response.)

My grandson will run my team as I recover from surgery. Send any trades and the 2 of us will decide. Good Luck everyone. I am here for the auction today
-
Ugh. I have another draft at this time - we'll see how that goes!
-
While we had some varied responses, the plurality was for 3-3:30 CST, and this also split the difference for the remaining times. Auction is 3/8 at 4:00 EST.
-
Are we set. 3/8 starting at 3:00 PM Central?
-
OK I will go ahead with my scheduling
-
Aging & Expensive can make it official but it looks like Sunday, March 8th.
