Hi Commish and owners, congrats to the winners, wanted to say it's been a pleasure playing with all of you this season. Got way too many leagues and cannot maintain the rythm (time consuming and $$$). So I won't be renewing many of my leagues like this one, got some talent to attract new owner for next year so you should be able to quickly fill vacancy. have a good arb and a great future season! Thanks Commish for great work

Congrats on a great win TBD! Also big shout out to Barry's and 4 Days, I hung for a while but my guys ran out of steam there at the end.
This is a fun, competitive league but I'm going to have to cut back on my fantasy commitments so I won't be back next year. I can stick around if you need me for arb.Duck Chop Suey🦆🍲 on September 30, 2024 9:11 PM

Thanks, Barry's, it's been a fun year for sure! Can't wait to see how the 3rd place matchup shakes out. Looking forward to next year already.

wow, what a race for 3rd! and congrats TBD on back to back titles, guess having a team name is not a key to success 😂

If anyone is into fantasy hockey - I run a league that has 3 spots open. It's a dynasty league that mimics Ottoneu as much as possible ($400 - big rosters - etc). Let me know if interested. Auction next Sunday. It's going into year 2 and all the teams that are open have great keeper options.

Trading older/expensive guys since deadline is coming up. Looking for younger/cheaper talent.

Updated trade block heading to the deadline. Willing to move out almost anyone with salary. Lots of competition for the top 3 spots, so let me know if you have future value available.

My team is fine, but probably not good enough to push into a money spot so I’ve put pretty well every player on the trade block. Looking for young/cheap/good players for next season.

Have some really top level bullpen arms if anyone in contention is looking for some big point IP heading home. Willing to retain their salary to turn them into young guys.

Willing to retain much of (all of, if needed) Julio's contract to send to a contender. Want a premium, young asset back.

It seems reasonable to me that the commissioner reach out to players who have an illegal roster for more than 24 hours, which is the length of our trade waiting period.
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 6:35 PM
-
@4 days -- I wasn't concerned about the state of anyone's roster at the moment. I was just raising a general question as to what we want our league policy to be. The Ottoneu policy, as I cited, is overly strict, IMO. Under that policy, you would need to have an open roster spot even to re-auction your players, which seems unreasonable.

Oh no
Whine & Baseball on March 20, 2024 12:03 PM

Correct. That is what you're doing. The other people are discussing things. Just because you don't like those discussions doesn't mean they shouldn't happen. So again, either add to the conversation or stfu. Otherwise, you'll be blocked from the board.
GF Chaunceys on March 20, 2024 11:55 AM

There's is no conversation. It's just bitching about nothing
Whine & Baseball on March 20, 2024 11:54 AM

The board is there for people to discuss things. Not to bitch about people discussing things. If you don't like it, turn off notifications. Otherwise, quietly read and move on. Whining about it does nothing to further any conversations.
GF Chaunceys on March 20, 2024 11:53 AM

Please, and I say this with the utmost respect, shut up. You're adding nothing to the conversation.
GF Chaunceys on March 20, 2024 11:51 AM

And just like that there is nothing to bitch about. What's next?
Whine & Baseball on March 20, 2024 11:22 AM

I’ve also got Luis Garcia who should be on 60 day, but hasn’t been placed on anything yet. He is expected back in the second half of the season, so I’m waiting on his designation as well. Should I wait to bid on auctions until I have clarity on that? Nothing I’ve read gives any detail other than “is on track to return in the second half of the 2024 season”

Sorry about going over roster limit. I won an auction yesterday afternoon and was waiting to see what IL Walker Beuhler would go on. Dodgers had been vague if it was delayed start ie August or June on Beuhler. They put him on 15 day, so I’ve got my answer.
4 Days in November: Full Throttle on March 20, 2024 5:58 AM

If we choose to do so at our discretion, that is.
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 2:01 AM
-
Very well — Rule I.c states, “At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner.” There is no mention of a grace period, so it sounds like you are suggesting that the other commissioner and I devise some arbitrary punishment and impose said punishment on the two teams that are currently in violation of this rule?
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 2:01 AM
-
Thinking to yourself is a good thing. As co commissioner why don't you remind the league of the rules. Cut and paste. The rules aren't going to change. So don't ask how we are going to handle that situation when the rules are pretty clear about exactly how it's handled.
Whine & Baseball on March 20, 2024 1:43 AM
-
@Whine — there is a penalty, but there is also a platform-wide guideline/policy which recommends that players try not to have an illegal roster any longer than is absolutely necessary.
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 1:40 AM
-
When I see an illegal roster, I think to myself, “Hey, have we adequately ensured that everyone is familiar with how the league handles illegal rosters?” and, perhaps more importantly, “Do we have a clear policy on how to handle illegal rosters?“
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 1:39 AM
-
I’m not being critical of anyone in particular, I’m just trying to establish rules/norms that we can apply to the upcoming season. That is, after all, kind of the commissioner’s job (co-commissioner, in this case) — to facilitate the development, dissemination, and enforcement of league policies.
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 1:37 AM

The other 'illegal' roster is waiting for a trade to be processed. There is penalty for having an illegal roster, right? That owner can't make any roster moves until it's cleared up. So...let's just follow the rules instead of seeing aliens. Deep breaths.
Whine & Baseball on March 20, 2024 1:34 AM
-
I don’t remember if we had a formal rule last year, but I remember thinking about reaching out to folks after maybe 48 hours of having an illegal roster unless they had a pending trade which was going to bring their roster back within the rules.
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 1:32 AM

What happened to you guys over the winter? No one is breaking any rules. You guys are looking for ghosts. Disagree with something? Send a message to Niv. Otherwise.... Just play the game. It's unreal. Some of you have sent me the most insane trade proposals but are now whining because someone actually accepted one. Now we're talking about illegal rosters. The move that made his roster illegal happened two hours ago and it's the middle of the night.
Whine & Baseball on March 20, 2024 1:31 AM

Normally I might agree, but this year there is like a week between opening “opening day” and Opening Day. It can happen during that time. Additionally, there are a lot of injured guys right now for whom it’s not clear if they will end up on the 15 or 60 day IL.
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 1:31 AM
-
I would say "even if they're just waiting on a 60 day IL placement" is a little too far--if someone's an obvious preseason 60 day guy who just hasn't been put there yet, I don't think the owner should be punished for that MLB team's weirdness (i.e. no idea why Rangers haven't 60 day'd Tyler Mahle yet)
Barry's Bondage on March 20, 2024 1:24 AM

We currently have two teams over the roster limit (as of today, so nothing nefarious there) and could have a few more depending on how the current auctions shake out.
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 12:52 AM

What do we want to do with illegal rosters in the layoff between the games in S. Korea and the full opening day? I don't think we want teams carrying extra players/salary even if they are just waiting for a player to be placed on the 60 day IL or something.
PNW Sailors on March 20, 2024 12:49 AM

@PNW - I think in that case the argument would be that it’s a totally unfair trade that people would veto. That’s not what I’m saying here. My general point is it’s the principal of offering nothing for something to skip the waiver process. I’m not making a value judgment on whether the return was fair for either side, that’s a different argument. It’s a fairness question for the whole league. I’m happy to drop it though, I think it’s been settled. I’m looking forward to the season starting!

Both teams did give up something -- I gave up a player and the other team gave up a roster spot and $6 in cap space. Now, if I had included a loan and taken an utterly useless player back in return, then I think you'd have a valid argument.
PNW Sailors on March 19, 2024 7:13 PM
-
@GF Chaunceys - I agree with that point as well. Even less of a potential issue given the circumstances and the fact that it’s preseason.
Name TBD on March 19, 2024 7:12 PM
-
I’m ok that everyone doesn’t agree with that, and again, I don’t think anyone got hosed in this situation. My opinion is just that the general rule of thumb shouldn’t allow it. But that’s just my opinion, and if the rest of the league doesn’t agree I think that’s ok. It sounds like it doesn’t usually create any issues in other leagues, which is great. I trust people will be fair and it likely won’t happen often anyway.

While I don't agree in general, I certainly think it's even less of an issue at this point in the season when the waiver wire is via random selection, as there is no "worse" teams as of now.
GF Chaunceys on March 19, 2024 7:09 PM
-
I get what you’re saying. But the waiver rules are intended to keep things more fair in general. It gives every team 24 hours to bid, which teams didn’t have in this case (not saying anyone else would have). It also ensures the team giving up the player can’t just pick a team to give him to (not saying you would have, but someone could). Also, IMO, all trades should involve both sides giving up something. Even if the other side only gives up $1 to skip the waiver line, at least it’s something.
Name TBD on March 19, 2024 7:08 PM

@Name TBD - Those "worse" teams had the same opportunity to send me a trade request. Had I received more than one request to trade Kirk for "nothing," I likely would have just cut him and let those teams duke it out on waivers. As I only received one offer...
