re going under 40 men and $400, if a team doesn't, they won't be able to participate in the auction draft. Is that the only penalty? They won't be able to set their lineups too (for games on March 28th or so), and won't be able to do adds or initiate trades...but, maybe they're keeping 40 players b/c they have 10 IL guys? I don't have a problem with that. The benefit to the league is one less competiting team at the auction...and the offending team is penalized already, so I'm good with that

Playoff Finals. I've made the finals 2 weeks. each week will have the 10 games started cap. This is to make it more fair when someone has cy young going twice in a week...this way, both teams should get 2-3 starts from their aces

The HUGE difference between the two scoring systems is that FanGraphs points docs pitchers for hits given up. So if a pitcher gets shelled, they no longer can score 30 points like last year just because they strike out a lot of guys and didn't give up home runs.

so you can trade and free yourself of the salary. Cut the player to free yourself, or get stuck with them until AFTER the auction and not be able to draft AND take a huge salary hit. We have to be both under 41 (so 40) and under $400M

I.e. some of you teams HAVE to make cuts or not only will you not be permitted to participate in the 2024 auction draft, but any cuts after Feb 1 will have steeper penalties (I'm assuming they cost half of the salary of the cut, like in-season)

The site is saying the keeper deadline is 1/31. What is the keeper deadline?
By February 1, your team has to be under cap and roster limits. That means you must have under $400 in salary, at or under 40 players rostered, and at least $1 in free cap for every player under the 40 man roster limit.
When is the last moment I can accept a trade?
A trade has to be made before Feb 1. Any players you receive as part of a trade will not be cuttable until after your

Ok, i'm sold! This articles addresses it best: https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/a-new-fantasy-pitching-points-system-proposal
The OLD Fangraphs pts system is the current SABR points system while the proposed Fangraphs pts system (in this article) is the currently available Fangraph pts system that we'll revert to. Neither of them actually dock for earned runs (smh) which is seen as more of a not pitcher controlled stat (with fielding, fielder capability and positioning/shifts being a part of

I also looked at the differences between FanGraphs Points and SABR points for pitchers (hitters appear to be the same) and it didn't seem huge. But I'll go back and compare a few starts and see what the impact would have been then maka decision on that.

I made the change to 10 Max starts a week (that will give you 5 SP slots a day, until you're down to 4 or less SPs, and then the slots will start decreasing down to 2). With the 10 max starts (which is the most i could select). remember, that is less than the 14 theoretical starts you could get with the 2 SP starts per day, 7 days, no start limits. So you're trading one for the other (the ability to start up to 5 guys on a day, but you potentially lose 4 starts during the week)

I agree with what Destiny said below (all for changing the scoring and pitching limits)

fanGraphs points. The only difference is that it charges pitchers for giving up hits. Otherwise, it's the same thing. I had a few pictures get absolutely shelled and still score decent points because they got a lot of strikeouts. That seems silly. But I'm in to play again next year no matter what you decide.
-
I would definitely go with a cap on starts each week. If we settled on some thing, it should definitely be moved up to five starting pitchers allowed. Doesn't make sense to have to leave our third best pitcher on the bench because your two best are already pitching that day. To summarize. I think an eight start cap would be perfect. I'd go for 10 as well. Anything, but two starting pitcher slots, and no limit. I think we should go to fangraph points as -
-
IMHO I like the idea of limiting to 10 starts per week. The more enjoyable aspect of this league is being close to a true MLB GM, So being able to stream starting pitchers all week long is nothing like real baseball. I would rather be able to start 3 or 4 studs in one day who happened to be lined up on the same day then to leave 2 of them on the bench and start mediocre pitchers on other days. So if we had 5, 4 or even 3 starters per day with a limit of 10 per week that it would be pretty nice.
-
i looked at the settings for allowing more than 2 SPs to start per day...and if i were to change that, the best i could do is allow a MAX of 5 SPs per day but a MAX of 10 starts per week. Right now, you have the ability to have 14 starts in a week. So, we'd be giving up potentially 4 starts in a week, including your studs that have 2 starts in a week, if we went with the up to 5 SP starts a day.

Arbitration allocation has started. you'll see it on the home page on the left. click on "arbitration" then use the drop down box to allocate $$ to players on every team. you must allocate at least $1 per team but looks like $3 is the max

Arbitration (allocation) begins around 10/15 I believe. In that system, we allocate $$ to other team's players whom we think are underpriced.

Congratulations on taking the bronze Gleyber! I don't think anyone could've overcome 918 points! And congratulations to Clark for taking the whole thing after pretty much being in first place the whole year. And congratulations to Beaver for putting up such a great fight all year long. Looking forward to next year! And I do agree with Beaver about eight pitching starts a week would make the league much more balanced and competitive!

Great Finals! Clark was the top team for most of the year, despite pushes from Destiny and Hash Brown from the middle to the end of the year (and into the playoffs). All in all, a fitting conclusion to our marathon season #1. So how do payouts work? automatic? Do I need to allocate? None of the money goes to me so i'm assuming its all automatic. And the next thing we have to focus on is arbitration!

Congratulations clark. You you were the only team that beat me constantly. Great season. Hoping we change to fangraphs points where pitchers get charged for hits given up. And 8 GS max a week rather than 2 pitchers a day. It would make for a much better league.
-
Congratulations Clark! My scrappy under .500 team couldn't put up more of a fight than to tie the 1st place juggernauts. Just 1 less [hitting] strike out… if Jordan Wicks would've pitched 4.2 innings instead of 4.1 innings… I wonder if this is the first time in Otteneu history that there has been a tie. Even in the regular season. With such minutia of scoring it just feels like impossible! But I tip my cap to Clark. I would almost rather lose in a tie than lose by 1 point. Going for the Bronze!!

BTW, the two big complaints i have about Ottoneu so far are the lack of customization and the HUGE fee taken out of each $100 entry

Trust me… I am getting the contents of your gift basket together! Although, this week should have been moot for me. I can't believe I scored the second most points in the league last week and I still lost! It's actually the second time that's happened to me in the last five weeks. So frustrating. But thank you for being there for me St. Louis Browns. Watching your game closely and watching Darby's Daisies point total closely!
