That CalPenal vs Hebron matchup came down to the last minute!! Heck of a battle.
-
dang, $1 zunino is a steal!
-
I am also willing to do this favor for you. Do not trust a man named "Bonus Cantos". Nothing in this world is free. You can always trust a guy named "Buy Low, Sell High". Send old decrepit Trout to me.
-
Trout is getting up there in age as well. Might want to drop him or trade him. I’d be willing to do you a favor and take him off your hands.

Trout is out. The entire Beaver family is saddened by this news, but resolved the step up their games!

Wainright, and his 50 point day was sitting on my bench.

Great matchup! Came down to the wire

.10 separating Beavers and Devers on the last day of the week? What a great battle!

Under the auction tab, you can see all auctions. Auctions go for 2 days, you can bid on the right side in the text box. Player goes to highest bidder. You’ve already successfully won two waivers so it looks like you’re good on that front at least.
-
Just to make sure I understand. To pick up an undrafted player, do I need to start an auction? What if the player is waived - does that require an auction, too?
-
I try to read as many of the MLB articles as I can on The Athletic. Some days though, there is just way too much content to digest. Rotographs.com has some Ottoneu specific content sometimes. Monday through Friday I try to listen to the Fantasy Baseball in 15 podcast. Just 15 minutes and that podcast hits most of the high notes about what's going on, who's rising, and who's falling.
-
Curious how players are following developments across MLB? Do you have a website that discusses how hidden jewels are doing? Any recommendations for good gouge?
-
Yes he did haha great pick!
-
Do you get points for pitcher's hitting stats? One of my SPs (Huascar Ynoa) hit a home run yesterday.

Because this is a head to head league there are no limits or season caps on innings. Right?
-
Thanks so much!
-
Sonny - yes. look at your lineup page for Thursday games (Aug 29). You have SP Dylan Cease on your bench who is starting then. Green check next to his opponent

Will the green check appear on the roster page where it lists my players and will say "@X"?
-
Re: starting pitchers. A little green circle with a check in it appears in the opponent column on the day your SP is starting.

Re: Keys - yes, more SP starts is generally a good thing and a "full" stable helps. Its not purely a quantity thing though. A bad SP start can result in significant negative points.
Same thing with RPs and position players that more games played helps. Can squeeze out a few more innings or at bats with active lineup management and appropriate bench depth.

and following up on that, is there an easy way on the site to see the day's starting pitchers, so that lineup changes can be adjusted easily? Or do you have to track that information from other sources? Sorry for the naive questions!
-
Is one of the keys here to make sure you have every pitcher (or as close to 100%) active every day? In other words, try to have the full stable of SP actually playing on any given day?

This will give more info on points needed to win...

League 1317 has the same settings as this one. For the recent 7 day period the best team has totalled 719, and the worst is 310. Avg is around 580. After 3 weeks of the season the top score is 2236, and the low is only 1218. The average is around 1800.
-
As a first timer, this whole league is pretty intimidating. Appreciate the help given during the draft. Curious, what's an average point total for a game?
-
Looking forward to this.

Opening Day is Better Late Than Never. Good luck to everyone. Let's make this league fun and sustainable. The best way to do this is to communicate with one another and build some relationships. Whether you're doing that here, on the groupme app, or any other way is great. Update your trading block if you have any glaring needs or surpluses. Look at your opponents rosters and it's easy to see some are playing to win now, and others are building for the future. Make them an offer!
-
draft is over, lineups pages are now active. good luck everyone!!! Somebody make me an offer.
-
So please get your watchlists set, and be prepared to nominate when it's your turn. Let's get this auction knocked out, and get started with the fun part. (And by fun part, I mean the part where you guys all laugh at how my team will go a month without hitting home runs or stealing a base.)
-
Some competitive leagues lock you out the first time you fail to nominate. I'm not going to do that here. There are way too many first time players in this league, and accidents and distractions do happen to all of us. But if you do let that clock expire without nominating someone a third time, you will remain locked out of the auction, and will need to fill your roster after the auction is complete.
-
A lot of leagues experience conflict at the end of the draft. People get down to the point where their max bid is $1. They're scared to nominate a dud, for fear of being stuck with him. They're also scared to nominate a guy they really want, for fear of somebody else scooping him up for only $2. So they opt to do nothing and let the clock expire each time when it's their turn to nominate. They are hoping to hold until all teams get down to $1 max bids, then jump back into the process.

Here are a couple of quick things I would like to mention. We will start promptly at 9pm eastern tomorrow night. We took 4 hours to get the first 209 roster spots drafted. But we hit a pretty good rhythm as the evening went on, so the final 271 spots should go much faster. I say that because many owners will choose to preserve cap money and not fill all 40 spots. Also as people run out of money, the bidding for each player tends to be over in a hurry. There will be a lot of guys bought for $1.
-
9pm est works for me
-
I'd say just start at 9pm on Tues.

Hey everyone, sorry about this, but I just called called in to a work shift on Tuesday that ends at 8 (I work at a hospital so I can't really say no), with my commute home I'd be able to start by 9, if we want to stick with Tuesday. I still can do Wednesday or Thursday at 8 if that doesnt work. Sorry about this request.
-
The economics of Ottoneu prevent daily streaming from being a long term strategy. If you cut a $10 player, you only get back $5 of cap space. (There are exceptions. Read the "Adding and Dropping Players" section of the rules.) This is meant to mimic real life. MLB teams can't sign and then cut new guys every week all year. Use your 40 roster spots to build depth for now, and for the future.
-
we start yet?
-
How can you stream over the final weekend in a league where adds take 2 days and are auctions, with hard salary caps? Id rather no cap on starts in a day, what if all 5 of your guys go on the same day?
-
i have since read a bunch of the message boards about how having a soft cap means everyone streams over the final weekend and distorts the league's pitching, so i guess we bite the bullet on 2sp limit per day because it's considered fairer.
-
Sonny I believe we are starting at 8 pm eastern
-
And can we confirm time for the draft?
-
One thing I wanted to throw out for the group for quick consideration: it looks like our settings our set up for a 2 games started per day cap, which will randomly penalize any team with more than 2 starters scheduled to pitch one one day. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a hard innings/starts cap per week so that no one loses a great start because of an arbitrary 2 start per day limit?
-
yep for sure
-
Auction site is at the tab above called "Auction Draft".
Good to take a look at beforehand to get familiar with it. Its a bit different than other auction sites. There is no player data (proj stats, avg $ value, etc) embedded in the auction site and the window to look for players to nominate is small. Puts an onus on doing your homework ahead of time.

Joined the groupme.

I just sent everyone an invite to join a groupme group for this league. It can make trade talks and negotiating easier to get done throughout the season. If you're interested, click the link to join.
