Option 1 is 5 SP lineup spots with a 10 start weekly cap. Advantage - This would eliminate situations where you have 3 or 4 good SP's going on the same day and you have to keep all but 2 on your bench.
Option 2 is 2 SP slots per day with no weekly limit - Advantage - it rewards teams with deeper quality SP's on the roster.
Please vote for 5SP or 2SP
-
It turns out that the compromise proposed is not an option. If we switch to 5 SP slots, we cannot choose a 14 start limit. This from Niv... "The max starts per week are 7-10. More than 10 starts in a h2h matchup is not available." So we have two options to vote for. I'll lay them out and we can vote.
-
Cool. 14 starts a week sounds fun.

Like most things in life, quality beats the hell out of quantity. I lost in the playoffs to a team with better pitching.
-
I didn't plan my team based on how many SP I thought I needed to roster, so its hard to answer your question. But it definitely helped to have a lot of SPs when you can start 2 max per day so you wanted to have options for multiple days. I actually think this way, you dont need as many because you can spread out your starts across the week. I think its up to each team to decide how to approach it but it will likely be easier than last year's system given the added flexibility
-
I mean as in how many SPs will we have to roster? Will it take up too much of our rosters, or will it be a reasonable amount? If it’s too many it probably limits strategy/team construction choices. If it’s a reasonable amount, then 14 starts a week is fine.
If it needed to roster more SPs than you guys rostered last year we could cut down the max starts by 1-3 to match what you guys had last year.
How many SPs did top teams routinely roster last season?

I am good with it
-
I would go for a change to 5 SP starting spots and 14 max starts per week (or the equivalent of 2 per day, for matchups that are more than 7 days, like the playoff weeks)
-
How many starting pitchers do you think we will need to reach 14 starts a week? Will that leave enough roster flexibility after that many starters?

I am good with what you laid out buy low
-
Devers, Hogs, and I finished 1,2,3 last season not solely because of deep SP roster, but it certainly helped a lot. So diminishing the SP role would hurt us a little more. But I think Devers' proposed compromise is very fair. One of the original complaints was having 3 good SP's pitching on the same day and having to sit one. Now having 5 SP slots should end that, but allowing 14 starts per week should no longer penalize the deep SP teams. I would vote for the compromise right away. Thoughts?
-
We are new to Otto and didn’t play last season so don’t have the feel of how many starters is ideal etc with 2 SP slots a day.
To me the con of the 2 SP a day is on days when you have 2+ starters that happen to be pitching.
Did 2 SPs a day last season always result in 2 SPs started a day? I guess that would be necessary to compete really right?
Getting to pitch your SPs when you’d like I think is the aim. The max #/week doesn’t matter to me but greatly a

Question to the group about the proposed rule change: Is the goal to have added flexibility of when you start folks or something else? As of now, you can theoretically have 14 starts in a week, if you use 2 per day.
It would make sense to me to simply make it so that you can use those 14 starts however you like, including 5 on the same day if that’s how your starters line up. Setting it at a lower number of 10 doesn’t make sense to me though, Can you explain why you’re cutting down
-
This quote from Niv Shah regarding the MLB labor dispute and how it may affect Ottoneu leagues...
"I might be a little too optimistic but I believe that we won’t have a shortened season but may need to see a slightly delayed keeper deadline, to something like February 15 or so. I’ll update this thread in a couple of weeks based on what is going on then."

Update on the poll: 6 teams have responded and everyone wants the rule change so far. All but 1 team wanted 10 starts per week. If you haven't responded yet, please do so so we can get this done.

Thanks guys, sorry for the mix up, messing around with budgets

Cal Penal League was messing around in roster organizer and accidentally cut a boatload of guys today. It was clearly unintended. I'm going to attempt to restore those guys back to him unless there is strong objection from several league members. Please chime in. Thanks!

We still have one manager that has not allocated arbitration dollars. Should we let that stand, or get an outside impartial stand-in from the Ottoneu slack channel to allocate those dollars? Just looking for feedback. Time is running out.
-
Arbitration is winding down, but there is still time to edit your allocations. The trading window opens on Monday, and will remain open until January 31st.

Arbitration ends this Sunday. Trading will be allowed again from Monday Nov 15th until the January 31st keeper deadline. All rosters must be 40 or less players and $400 or less payroll by the keeper deadline. The more room you free up, the more you'll have to spend on the auction in March.

If anyone knows anyone else interested in picking up the Bonus Cantos team, please reach out. I'd like to secure a new owner in time for them to participate in arbitration if at all possible. Thanks!

That's great sonny! Also, this week's episode of the Keep or Kut podcast is devoted to Ottoneu arbitration. They have a veteran player and a relatively new player discussing strategy for the process.
-
I'm in for the arbitration. But need to read the article!
-
I have reached out via message and email to Bonus Cantos and have not heard back. Do any of you have contact with him? If not, I think we have to assume he is not returning. Does anyone know of a potential replacement? If not, I will go on the Ottoneu community page and seek a replacement manager.
-
We are nearing the halfway point of arbitration, and so far we have seven of the 12 twelve teams that have allocated their funds. I would encourage everyone else to go ahead and do that. Keep in mind that you can always change your allocation amounts right up until the deadline. Arbitration deadline is November 14th. Trading will open back up on Nov. 15th, and remain open until Jan 31st.

Copied from another league.....
Arbitration begins October 15th: this Friday.
Chad Young wrote an intro article about it:
https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/new-and-improved-ottoneu-arbitration-process/
Key quote: "Each team gets $25 to allocate to players on other teams. Every owner has to allocate at least $1 to every other team and can allocate no more than $3 to any given team. The dollars to a given team can be given all to one player or split among up
