I will vote No on this proposal. Thanks.

I should have added this quote from Chad Young also:
"In H2H leagues, lineups matter and you should be more stringent on asking managers to keep their lineups full and active."
If this was a HTH league, I would have voted yes. But since this is not and incomplete lineups have no effect on a HTH win or loss, I voted no so as not to be forced to drop a player I want to keep .
-
I will vote no on the ‘Healthy Players’ interpretation. I often have a problem with relievers getting hurt, and despite my best efforts I have been quite frustrated getting a healthy reliever to replace the injured one. It’s adding insult to injury that I would have to show bids and auction starts and waiver claims to prove I’m trying. Anyone who plays this game is keenly aware of the importance of a full lineup.
-
Reminder: It's 49 hours to the keeper deadline. If you're over the cap, please make cuts on time.
Most of us are under the cap with enough $$ to cover our open slots, so we don't have to do much except watch the deadline go by. But it's a good time to look at the FA pool and see if there are further cuts you want to make, given who will be available in the auction.

Chad Young proposed best practices on Fangraphs here:
https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/ottoneu-league-best-practices/
"My Take: In season-long leagues, be lenient here. If a team has a starting 2B who gets hurt, they shouldn’t have to make a cut to add another one if they don’t want to."
I've run into this situation in the past in another league and it was not pleasant. Therefore I vote NO.

also, does anyone know a good way to find reliable starting lineups before they lock in ottoneu?
A few different times last year i would have days where players weren't starting irl but ottoneu thought they were until really late before the game and they would lock in. I'd essentially have a player starting on the bench or a guy not playing in the lineup, especially for like the 3:05 Thursday/weekday games

If 'Healthy Players' doesn't pass, we'll use the less strict 'Have enough MLB active players to fill a lineup, healthy or injured' interpretation of Rule 1.a.

Next proposal: the stricter 'Healthy Players' interpretation of Rule 1.a: You must maintain a starting lineup's worth of healthy active major league players. 1 at each infield position, 5 SP, 5 RP, plus 1 MI and 1 UTIL. If you're holding the minimum at a position and one of your players becomes inactive (injured list/suspended/retired), you have a week to start an auction to fill the spot.

Voting starts now. One proposal at a time. Simple majority is enough to pass, so: 7 votes in favor.
First proposal: DDR’s ‘Time Since Last Team Activity’
In-season only: If you have not been active for 14 days, the league will try to contact you. After 21 days of inactivity, we’ll start looking for a new manager. (Dates are on the trade block page and on roster pages.)

Hey all,
The day job has been nuts the last few weeks and I haven't found a vehicle for voting on rules proposals. other than this message board, which is anything but a secret ballot.
If you have ideas, let the league know.
P.S. 5 days until the keeper deadline. Get those trades and cuts in while you can.

I'm good with 2/15, but if there is lots of support among the 12 of us for a later deadline, it is possible for me to give everyone a round of penalty free cuts at an agreed upon later date.
Chime in here as you see fit.
-
Word from Niv on the community site: The keeper deadline is not moving past February 15th:
https://community.ottoneu.com/t/keeper-deadline-adjust-if-lockout-occurs/10611/17

Kershaw, LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, Gerrit Cole are available. Make me an offer I can't refuse and they could be making an appearance in your classy polka dot uniforms this season. I'm looking for *quality* SPs and all IF positions for under $12. For the right trade I could throw in a forged autographed picture of Dr Strangeglove, Dick Stewart.
-
Everybody renewed for 2022. We're good to go.
-
Last call for team renewals: a couple of us haven't paid for 2022 yet.
If you don't pay by the deadline, Ottoneu will lock you out for 10 days, and ask you to pay. After 10 days, your team will go on the abandoned teams list.
Details here: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/renewal-dates/830
I'll be in touch on Sunday by email with anybody who hasn't paid by then.

Average salaries for Fangraphs points leagues like ours are available here:
https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/averageValues?gameType=3
Points leaderboards are here for our league - they default to 2021, but you can go back through Ottoneu history:
https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasyleaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=major&qual=0&type=8&season=2021&month=0&ft=0&fl=1323

i'd love to see the relationship between salary and point. but i think i'd like to see you regress salary on points, where salary is the dv.
-
oh i totally get that lol my 2021 roster XD, recently i did relative to average value ratings and that at least kinda shows even for harper, vlad, soto, etc. you lose like $20+ worth of points cause they're paid to play like ~8x better than the average at their position, but the season limits their output to like twice the points of an average player. The linear regression might draw that closer in bc there's definitely a place for signing mvp level guys over just hardcore moneyballin'

I'd be interested in seeing it. The problem is emotion takes over in the middle of an auction and you can't stop yourself from hitting the +1 or +5.
-
I'm going to be running some linear regression on player salary -> expected points if anyone is interested in this info let me know and i can set up someway to display it. I think it will be beneficial so everyone generally knows what you pay for $X player. From what i've seen from data so far, mvp level players are money sieves even at ottoneu average salary.

Nailed it.
Also, please note: the keeper deadline has moved to 2/15, but the team renewal fee is still due by 1/31.
If you haven't renewed yet, you should be see a red banner at the top of league pages, along with a blue-green banner for the keeper deadline.
MLB contract negotiations have been moving quickly the last few days; it looks like we'll have a season, and MLB may not miss any games.
-
Yes. Deadline for keepers is Feb 15. There will be an auction draft later, and the amount of money you have to spend in the auction is $400 minus the value of those you have kept. For example, my team currently has 37 players valued at $385. If I don't make any further cuts, then I will only be able to buy a maximum of 3 players in the auction. And I will only have $15 total to spend on those 3 guys.
-
Just so I'm clear what's next. We need to be under 400$ by the keeper deadline. Then there's an auction draft that contains all the new and old FAs?
-
Last weekend I sent out multiple trade proposals. It would be greatly appreciated if you could send me some smoke signals or non-offensive hand gestures in reply if your keyboard is non-functional. Grazie.
-
Hot off the presses: Niv just extended the keeper deadline to February 15th, so we have some more time to make trades, etc. Here's his post:

My Friday was a little nuts. Is everybody OK with voting on proposals over the weekend?
And, does anybody have any other proposals you'd like the league to consider?
-
For the record, if I have not logged into an ottoneu team in 21 days, please send your condolences to my widow.

A 'Last Time Logged In' rule would be about engagement with the league, pure and simple. Rule 1.a enforcement is less direct. It's more about ensuring that rebuilding teams are actively rebuilding, and not checking out.
Teams trying to win won't come close to breaking either interpretation of Rule 1.a, because a team needs a fairly deep bench of MLB players to hit game and inning caps.
-
(The Rule 1.a auction clock would also be stopped by completing a trade that brings a team the players necessary to fill out a lineup.)
-
The more lenient interpretation of Rule 1.a would follow the same process as the stricter version, except that the 7 day auction clock would only start if a player going on the 60 day/COVID list meant that a team no longer had the 22 players at the various positions required to fill a starting lineup. Lineup slots could be filled by MLB players on the 10 day IL without starting the auction clock.
-
Enforcement of the stricter 'Healthy Players' interpretation of Rule 1.a would look like this: If a team has 5 healthy MLB RPs rostered, and then one goes on the IL, that team would have a week to start an auction for a healthy MLB RP. If they don't win that auction, they have to start another one, until they win a healthy MLB RP. League contact would start if that week goes by with no auction.
