The other Ottoneu League I play in is H2H also with 7 starts limit per H2H Weekly matchup.
Also note....to fill the league requirements, 40 players per team...took us 14 hours. 8 on Sunday, 6 on Monday.
Thanks. Look forward to Draft. Good luck to All.

Bulldogs thise are the H2H leagues lrimarily with weekly limits i believe. Since we are a full season points league innings cap makes more sense.

Most Ottoneu Leagues utilize Games Started per Week (Typically 7 to 10) not innings season limit.
Why use innings season limit? Thanks.

Draft night is 36 hours away. Hope you are getting fired up. Did a quick census - we are all Otto-newbs this year. Will be the first draft for 6 teams, second draft for 4 teams, and fourth draft for me and one other team. (cautionary tale that Ottoneu can get addictive).
For tomorrow, we will go for 2 hours (~90 players will be drafted), take a short break (5 min), and then another 1.5-2 hrs (~100 players will be drafted). Reconvene on Sunday at 730 and do the same.
-
7:30 EDT Sunday works for me as well.

7:30 EDT Sunday works for me.
-
Niv confirmed on the community site: caps will not be prorated. 162/1500 as usual.
-
730pm EDT start on Sunday okay with everyone for part 2 of the draft?
Regarding setting line-ups, no need to wait for Monday. Can put people in your lineup for Sunday. Caps are on total games played, so it will even out over the course of the season. I'll see if I can confirm, but pretty certain that our caps will be not be pro-rated. 162 game per position, 1500 innings total for pitchers.
-
Saturday is set. Do we have a time slot for continuing on Sunday?
Should we plan on setting lineups for the first time on Monday the 26th?
-
Draft night is about 80 hours away. . A couple observations, fun facts, administrivia to pass along.
1. Ottoneu rules are pretty strict on SP/RP. Pitchers have to start to accumulate stats as SP. Can't goose your ratios with SP-eligible relievers in SP spots.
2. Some player eligibility is different in Ottoneu. Yermen Mercedes is catcher-eligible already, for example.
3. You can add to your personal watchlist on the auction site ahead of the draft.
Good

My intention is that this league will be a multi-year venture. Leagues will persist but individual managers can turn over.
I would encourage to try to be competitive every year. With 40 man rosters, it is feasible to compete now and build for the future. Starting lineups only have 22 players. Its unlikely that there would be more than 30 players that you actively rotate into your starting lineup. Plenty of room to stash some prospects, and other bets on the future.
-
So one of the advantages of Ottoneu is the fact that you draft prospects and it's supposed to be a multi-year thing.
For the folks with some experience on this site - do leagues generally tend to stay together after the first year? What I'm really asking is if it's worth it to focus on future value or if I should just try to win now since the league may not stick around for more than one year.

RE: draft prep. Check out https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/the-math-of-winning-ottoneu/ for some thoughts.
I've found Ottoneu prep is like other draft prep with just more players. Have lists of your top N players by position. Have a plan of how you want to build your team.
Prospects matter. The top 10-20 will be drafted.
Stars on 60-day DL matter. Sale, Eloy will have value in this league.
Fangraphs' bullpen depth chart is a good reso

is there any analysis that would be useful/recommended to run as a prep for the draft? so far i have fangraphs average player values
-
i can be there for 8:30, i'll be rushing but i can make sure lol
-
Some draft day tips that will help with total time.
1. Nominate a player each time its your turn to nominate. If you don't nominate anyone then we have to wait out those 30 seconds nomination clock....that adds up over several rounds)
2. Teams need not come out of the draft with full rosters. You can fill out rosters via silent auction after the draft.
-
The 24th is great! Everything that I've read says about 7+ hours for a new league draft so Sunday may be just as long?
-
We've got 12!
Will change the draft to Saturday the 24th. starting at 830pm (Wellsboro - can you be online by then?). Will aim to go 3.5 to 4 hours on Saturday. And do a second night on the 25th for a couple hours.
Please plan to be live for the draft. It makes all the difference to your team success. Alot of good strategy tips in the Community chat. Can find average salaries on the Players page to help with your draft prep.

I'm good for Saturday. Excited to get things rolling. Played a few seasons on here. Love it.

I'm good at any time. I would like to see that 12th spot filled before the draft if possible.
-
I work until 8 pm normally Saturdays. Sorry if that's inconvenient for anyone,
-
That works for me. Glad we're having this dialog this early.
-
Saturday 7pm EDT works for me.
-
Draft Day - any objections to moving to Saturday April 24 starting at 7pm EDT?
-
Hey all - excited for the league this year, it'll be my first time doing Ottoneu but I plan to dedicate a good amount of time.
I work business hours in CST zone and would prefer to do it in the evenings on weekdays/weekends.
-
Great news!
8pm Friday isn't going to work for me. I'm in Phoenix, 3 hours behind you. That's 5pm here, the end of my work day.
I have more flexibility on weekends if you want to start earlier.
-
So we are up to 10...enough to play. yay! Will leave the league open to see if we get 2 more.
Draft is set for Friday April 23. I'd like to move it up to 8pm EDT and go ~4- 4.5 hours. Any objections to that?
Depending on how far we get in that draft, will either have a second draft (on Saturday 24th or Sunday the 25th) or let people build out rosters just via free agent pool/silent auction acquisitions.
-
Hey everyone. I know it's tentatively set but hoping that having the draft this far out works since we have enough time. I have most of the week off starting the 18th so I should be good I hope! Having never played Ottoneu, I'm looking forward to this. I've played in a CBS Sportsline keeper league for about 23 years (until 2017) so I'm just now getting back into it!
-
Just drafted in my first Ottoneu leagu. Commish had draft over two days a friday night and sunday. We drafted about 250 players on the first night. The day in between was nice to research pocks and make a plan for the last half of draft.
-
Yeah, I can tell you from very unfortunate recent experience, the draft is critical haha. I am also on the East Coast (DC). We did a Sunday from 9-12, then the next day from 9-12 again. Some were done by 10, others ended up filling up more of their roster off waivers the next day.
-
3. Saw the note on the manager wanted thread about changing the arbitration/allocation/vote off And I fixed that. Feel free to post here on any other tweaks to league settings. I'm partial to this being fangraph points, but only to considering anything else.
-
2. Having a good draft is really important to this being a quality league. And the draft will take a long time (estimate ~ 6hrs in total). I plan to break it up over a couple evenings. I am on the east coast and would like to not have the draft nights run much past mid-night. Please post any draft time preferences or complications. Thanks
-
Hey all - looking forward to getting this league going. A couple notes and asks.
1. I want this to be a 12 team league. Feel free to recruit others if you'd like. I will continue to solicit interest in the Ottoneu community and am also trying to get a few guys I know to join. Going to hold off on finalizing the draft day (tentatively set for the 23rd now) until we get to a full league.
