September 7, 2024 8:12 PM : Schmidt did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 2-0 win against the Cubs, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out two over 4.2 scoreless innings.
Analysis: Schmidt was lifted at 75 pitches and fell just an out shy of a win in his first appearance since May 26. He kept the Cubs off the board but did show some signs of rust, throwing just 44 strikes and generating only six whiffs. On the season, the 28-year-old owns a 2.34 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 69:21 K:BB across 65.1 innings and will try to increase his workload in a matchup with the Red Sox next week.
