Mornin all. We using a 12-hr window for this draft?
-
That’s the problem with baseball these days: numbers run everything and no one takes into account who can spit sunflower seeds the furthest anymore
-
Oh I'm not sensitive about it at all, my team overperformed last year in the short season and I'm likely shifting into rebuild mode this year.
-
Don't sweat the Power Rankings. That's just what the computer spits out and historically it has only been about 85% accurate. If I was making them subjectively, I would have Lumber at #9.

Given the current power rankings I look forward to landing as good a prospect as Torkelson in Round 1 next season!

The google sheet is where the most comprehensive data is going to be found, so check in there for a better look at what's going on. If there's someone drafted that is ineligible (having played professionally in other foreign leagues, including Oscar Colas and Raul Alcantara), I'll try to say so ASAP. Keep it to international amateurs and MLB draftees and we should have no problem. Best of Luck!

Please add Gabriel Arias back to my MiLB roster. Thanks
-
Thanks for the explanations and for organizing too. Can you please add back in Will Wilson, Trejyn Fletcher and Wilderd Patino? I'll only drop Mata for now, please and thanks.
-
It needs to be said again: Luke, thank you for what you do for this league. Being a commish in fake baseball is not easy - especially helping us through a pandemic-wrought season.
So thank you again and I hope you come in second. 🍻
-
OK, I understand now, but was confused up until now. I had been viewing the available pool as much deeper and would not have dropped Cody Hoese or Ethan Hankins. So I'd like to add them back please. Thanks for working this out, Luke!
-
If anyone was confused by the new implementation of these restrictions I apologize. If you cut players in anticipation of having a more complete player pool to pick from
and would like to reinstate them to your team, I think that’s fair as I didn’t communicate properly before the cut deadline, just let me know.
-
I’ll also be tracking all the picks on the spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uC6XbdeoOf47Uddus1mQamHeHIHBwELi3wEr0h85VJ0/edit?usp=sharing
(with as close to real-time updates as I can). Please send me a private message with any questions so we can keep this rundown on the league page until Friday. Good Luck (8/8)
-
With all those stipulations in place, I think we should give people a few days at least to prep. So I’m going to nominate that we start the slow draft on Friday, February 5th, whenever Detroit Ghosts would like to pick their first player. We’ll do the same format as last time, please post your pick on the league message board. We’ll be pretty flexible with the picking but I’m going to say maybe an 8-12 hour pick window if we could, just to keep this thing moving along. 7/

With all that being said, the league charter states reverse standings is the order of our snake draft. The order will be as follows:
1. Detroit Ghosts
2. Big Papi Memories
3. Siena
4. Pesapallogators
5. Charming Cads
6. Josh’s Team
7. Liberty Village Lumber
8. Cannonball Run
9. Polar Bear Pride
10. Fort Myers Fun-N-Gun
11. Dreadnought
12. Leather Daddies

I see this MiLB draft as the final event of the 2020 season. After we’ve completed it, I’ll call the next month and a half or so our “winter meetings” where any additional league rules can be evaluated as owners see the need for it. I think we’ve done a pretty good job of starting a dynasty league in maybe the worst possible year and I appreciate the efforts of all of you to cultivate this league…5/
-
Remember that every team has a 15-spot max on the MiLB roster. As we decided before the start of last season, we’ve forgone the Games Played and Innings Pitched determinations in the league charter for last season, but beginning this year, they will be re-instituted in order to disincentivize tanking. The number of spots on your MiLB roster beginning after the 2022 auction will be determined by how close your MLB team comes to the GP/IP caps… 4/
-
As the league charter stipulates, there will be another MiLB draft following the standard 40-man auction. This will allow for the prospects that were previously on 40-man rosters to pass through “waivers” if you will, to see if others would like to roster them prior to their MiLB eligibility being reinstated. This is the normal process that would have occurred during a normal MLB season. There will be another round of cuts from the MiLB roster prior to the next draft after the auction 3/
-
The biggest reason for this is to ensure that all these players avoid the 40-man auction and premature salary inflation. Players that have previous professional service but are merely new stateside will not be eligible, including: Kohei Arihara, Ha-seong Kim, Haruki Nishikawa, and Hirokazu Sawamura. Think of this draft as occurring in Mid-July, not February. Normally, that would include the opportunity to draft un-owned prospects that had a breakout spring. I'm forgoing it for now 2/
-
Okay everyone, we're past the deadline for cuts and keepers. Your rosters are now susceptible to cap hits for any cut players until October. What's next is our belated First Year Player Draft. It isn't stipulated in the charter, but this MiLB draft is going to be limited to players selected in the 2020 MLB Draft and International prospects signed in the "J2" signing period. It was pushed so far back because of the strange nature of this season; normally this would've taken place in Jul

Oh!!! I’ve also been reminded, remember to post who you’re dropping from the MiLB roster by EOD tomorrow. There’s a 15 player max on your roster so if you want to grab players in the FYPD MiLB draft, make sure you’ve got space.

Nice! Everybody’s re-upped! I’m thinking MiLB draft will be sometime towards the end of next week. There are a few stipulations that’ll I’ll be posting in the next couple days or so, just gotta get it all together. Mostly: this is intended to be the First Year Player draft for prospects that were signed and drafted in 2020. No posted players from Asia eligible

Leather Daddies have updated our trade block and are listening to reasonable offers. Don't be shy if anyone on our block interests you. (We prefer to discuss rather than go back and forth with blind offers.)

Leather Daddies trade block is open and updated. Let us know who you like and who's available. Deadline is Sunday.

Slow draft, in February, sounds great. Looking forward to it!
-
Oh also, another heads up, please post any and all prospects that you wish to drop from your MiLB rosters prior to the keeper deadline. That will really help me before the prospect deaft
-
In favor of doing it slow and starting early Feb, thanks commish
-
I am good
-
Awesome everyone - we’ve got 11/12 people re-upped for next season. I’m gonna set up a poll here pretty soon on when to do the MiLB draft. I’m thinking the first week of February. Let me know what you think. I figure we can do it slow like we did it last year so we don’t have to be exact in the dates and there will be less spots to fill
-
Yeah I was thinking maybe we should do it in the dead period of early February just to be sure we’ve got all the owner situation sorted out and also so we don’t have to split between last minute trades/cuts before the keeper deadline as well as letting most of the int. signings shake out. But if everyone wants to do it sooner that’s cool with me
-
Got my team re-upped and looking forward to a new year. International signings are Friday! Are we looking to have our MiLB draft shortly thereafter?

Only 3 owners have reupped for next year - only 3 weeks left to do so or your team will be abandoned
-
Just posting to say we’re still monitoring this page every day. Thank you to those who have responded to trade discussions. Some of you still have messages sitting in your inbox.
-
Hey everybody, happy holidays. Just a reminder to renew your team before the end of January. Otherwise they’ll go abandoned and we’ll have to find new owners. If you’re not planning on renewing please let me know so I can find new owners before the cut deadline
-
Update those trade blocks
-
Okay everyone, trading is officially open again. Now’s the time for organizational restructuring, all salaries will remain fixed unless a player is cut, in which case he will be auctioned off at the draft in March. The only deadline we have now is your team must be back in a valid state (<40 players, <$400) by January 31st. Happy dealing
