3 days left on arbitration and 5 teams left to arbitrate!
-
5 days left on Arbitration y'all. Please get it finished!

Hey all, still no bites on the Manager replacement for Siena. If anyone has any leads let me know. I'll probably abandon the team in the next week or so to get the slot open in front of more people.
Please complete arbitration!
-
Just a reminder that arbitration needs to be completed by 11/14. Please get it done.

Truthfully, I don’t remember how many spots I was given. Apologies, as I realize that’s unhelpful lol

Also don't forget to complete arbitration and bully Craig Kimbrel.

I'll update those spots on the Minor league rosters going into the offseason.
I went back and looked at our message board last year, and still can't find whether we're offering new owners 15 spots. I feel like we should (especially this year, with Siena only earning 12), but it doesn't look like we offered that to Heaters last year.
Will someone refresh my memory? People who have joined this league: did we offer 15 MiLB spots in your first year?
Let's get
-
Polar Bear Pride - 14 Spots
1912 GP - 1505 IP
Dreadnought - 14 Spots
1911 GP - 1447 IP
Jamie Moyer Heaters - 13 Spots
1815 GP - 1381 IP
Siena - 12 Spots
1637 GP - 1383 IP
Detroit Ghosts - 14 Spots
1833 GP - 1417 IP
Josh's Team - 14 Spots
1902 GP - 1480 IP
-
Hey everyone. Here's next year's Prospect Spots. Check em' out:
Charming Cads - 14 Spots
1940 GP - 1526 IP
Mo Vaughn - 14 Spots
1935 GP - 1519.2 IP
Leather Daddies - 15 Spots
1944 GP - 1515.1 IP
wOBA - 15 Spots
1944 GP - 1525.1 IP

Apologies for not getting an advertisement out there for Siena’s team yet, I’ll be posting something soon. If any other owners are not planning on managing next Season, please let me know ASAP so I can get another manager lined up. Thanks everyone. Don’t hit me too hard in arbitration. Remember who won the league and who came in third with a very low salary cap
-
Hey y’all, apologies for being so absentee. Standard Salary increases have been processed as of this morning. Arbitration starts on Sunday. I have done a full audit of the MiLB rosters for players with MLB experience - they are highlighted in orange on the spreadsheet. I will be adding those players to rosters prior to arbitration.
-
I’m with Josh. What I love about the MiLB format is precisely the fun of attaining and holding prospects that could breakout and provide tremendous value. The existing arb system still hits them pretty hard.
-
Congrats, Cads! Here’s to some girthy beers!
-
Yeah, hard agree with Josh— I basically built my team with that rule in mind
-
Enjoy the European tour, Cads. Make sure to do the Game of Thrones tour and see where the Purple Wedding was filmed (no spoilers). A $250 buy-in would be $1500 to first place, $750 to second, $250 to third. Our thoughts are 1. We can keep up with inflation (ha) and 2. We're dropping our other teams because this league is our favorite and it's more fun not having conflicting players in different leagues.
Obviously if there's opposition we shouldn't do it, just wanted to bring it up t

What does the $250 prize proposal entail? Sorry, I am on vacation. My reign began in Ljubljana…enjoying some tasty wine in Dubrovnik now.

We also wanted to take everyone’s temperature on moving to the $250 prize tier.
-
Yeah we're not a huge fan of that either. The auto $2 increase and a possible $33 additional allocated is good. That's enough $ to make sure guys like Walker and Miller are appropriately priced.
-
I'm actually not a fan of that. I (maybe others too) have actually employed a strategy of trading away proven players for cheap minor leaguers just so that I can build a team for the future that has young cheap stars that can be supplemented with more expensive veterans. If this rule change were in effect from the start, I probably do not make a lot of those trades.

I’ll definitely mark it down to be voted on before the season starts. Winter Meetings in between arb and the cut deadline sound good to everyone? Submit any rules proposals and we’ll take some votes.
-
The older our league gets, the more common it'll be for the best players in the league to come into our market as $1 players, which is not indicative of their true value. For an example, on my own team I’ve got $1 Jordan Walker (not to brag) and $1 Bryce Miller (again not bragging). Their last 10 avg salaries are $16 and $11.50! The more we can balance that out, the better IMO! Lemme know what you think
-
Forgive me if I'm jumping the gun here, but wanted to nominate a rule change while we still have arbitration ahead of us. Bottom line: I'd like to propose a round of arbitration for players that were activated off MiLB rosters during the prior season. I can go into the reasoning in my next message, but I was thinking each league member gets $2 of arb dollars to apply to any player that was activated off an MiLB roster, but league members can't allocate both dollars to the same player.
-
Good point, I’ll put something up in there too
-
Congratulations Cads! Well done! Kudos too to Mo Vaughn and Leather Daddies on the podium placements.
-
We're big proponents of posting in https://community.ottoneu.com/ for a new owner. I think that's how we found this league. It seems like someone perusing the Ottoneu Community Forum on October 2nd is highly likely to be a good owner.
-
I’m always willing to fill the league with good candidates rather than randoms when there are options, so if anyone has an owner or owners in mind that might be into the format, send them my way and we can get the ownership transferred. If we don’t have any good candidates 5 days from now (10/7), I’ll abandon the team and hopefully get someone in by the time arbitration starts. I’d like to give them as much say in their team as possible. Let me know if that works for everyone
-
Thanks everyone for a great season! I’ll be looking at MiLB rosters over the next week or so to look for players that must be promoted this offseason. Also, after gentle prods from a few owners, I have tried to contact Siena about his inactivity, but have not heard anything back in over a week. He has been inactive since July 31st and hasn’t made a transaction in 4 months. We need a more active owner than that. Unless he provides a very convincing reason, I’m ready to replace him.
-
Always sad the first day after the season. At least I can see my family again.
Congrats Tom and Luke and kudos to Blake and Seth for making it a great challenge. Hopeful everyone returns next season. Enjoy the time off before arbitration. Go Lions #onepride - Brad Daddie

I did a bad job of auditing the rosters at the end of the year last year. This year will be different. All players with any MLB regular season experience will be added to the 40 man before arbitration
-
None of this applies to me, correct? I think I called up everyone. Dadgum shame about Jasson’s UCL.

However, the buffer does not extend over the off-season. I clarified this point last year with Luke and Josh: you have to call up players with MLB experience by the end of the year. Otherwise you avoid playing to appropriate salary increase.

Hey all, because it was an issue in another league: all rosters should be valid on the last day of the season, cuts will be expected prior to arbitration for any roster that isn’t compliant with salary cap or roster spot rules
