Alright, looks like we're just waiting on two more to renew. Please do so before midnight EST to prevent any interruptions in your managerial status!

Hope everyone is well! Just a heads up for managers who have not renewed their teams yet:
You have until midnight tomorrow to renew your team for the 2022 season. Please do so before then so your team is not abandoned!

with all of my Rockies gear on. Sounds pretty cool. We got to park in Billy's parking space ( front row of the players parking lot) and went to drink some beers in wrigleyville. Well, go figure, that game was rained out ppd and thats as close as I got to Wrigley. Still haven't been in the stadium and I left Chicago that summer.

I've made my yearly donation! I didn't realize we had a few cubs fans in here but I have quick story you may appreciate. I'm Geoff, by the way, and I have historically over valued everyone on my team for hopes everyone hits their ceiling the same year.
My college roommate was Billy William's Grandson. Well in 2011 the rockies played the cubs in Wrigley on my roommates birthday so he says he'll get tickets. Right on. The tickets were "Dugout Box" tickets, so i'd be sitting

Unless everyone would rather try to get it on the books now, I will be waiting until our cut deadline passes to post a Google Form to help us determine what weekend is best for everyone.
My worry is that if we make a decision too early, folks may forget about it accidentally make conflicting plans.

Thanks for the flag. Has there been any thought on potential dates for our auction yet — or are we also holding off until there’s a deal? I only bring it up as I’m travelling from the UK to Canada the weekend of April 2 (in theory / assuming I’m allowed in!) and it would be really tricky to make that work on my end. (I can’t recall which weekend we’ve traditionally done it — but I think it’s been a couple weeks before Opening Day?)

Alright y'all, the keeper deadline has officially been delayed until 2/15. Enjoy your extra time to wheel and deal before we make our final cuts and start preparing for the auction draft.
Also, be sure to pay your renewal fees by the 31st of this month if you have not already!

Hey all, my name is Phil. I'll be taking over the 7th Inning Streakers, and I must say that I do enjoy the name. I'm a colleague of Matt and Jason's and a lifelong Cubs fan. Very much enjoyed watching them beat the Cards at Wrigley in the 2016 NLDS. Even enjoyed tearing up weeks later at an Applebees I had fled to after work for the WS. It's been less fun watching that team fall apart recently.
Look forward to winning the league in my first season! Just have to figure out how it al

Alright, I have vacated Tyler's managerial spot and just need to wait on Phil to send me his username so I can place him in charge of his squad. Thanks for helping fill the spot so quickly!

Excellent! Feel free to reach out to him and share the team page (copying the URL should let anyone view the team) so he knows what he’s getting himself into, and if he agrees, I’d be happy to send him an invite to take over the squad.
Thanks for the help!

Hey commish. I know a guy who'd be interested and would be a good custodian — he wouldn't let the team fade. He's a Cubs fan, and a colleague of mine and Jason's.
Happy trails, Tyler. Thanks for last year (even if you fleeced me!)

Also, while I'm here I will announce this:
7th Inning Streakers will be stepping down as manager of their team. With the keeper deadline quickly approaching, I am hoping to fill this opening as soon as possible to give the new manager time to make their cuts, as well as make and field trade offers.
I have plenty of places to post the opening, but if anyone here has someone who would be interested, I would prefer to "keep it in the family."

Hi all, sorry for the delay in replying to these!
I checked out the Commissioner settings, and the January 31st deadline is set by Ottoneu, not by individual leagues.
Based on the lack of communication between the league and the players, I would anticipate that the lockout continues for a while.
With that in mind, it is best to operate under the assumption that the current deadline stands as is.

Hey! I think it's a good idea and I appreciate you thinking ahead. Niv posted this 4 days ago:
https://community.ottoneu.com/t/keeper-deadline-adjust-if-lockout-occurs/10611/2
Looks like the keeper deadline could be extended to the 15th. As far as I can tell there is no ability to do that on our side (I could be wrong) but either way the choice could be made for us soon by the league dev.
-
Happy New Year gang!
I was wondering what everyone thought about pushing back the keeper deadline in light of the lockout. Usually there's a little more clarity with everyone's roles and team situation by the time January 31st rolls around. I'm fine either way, but I definitely think that would be something that could benefit everyone. Not even sure if it's possible.
Love,

Afternoon, y'all!
We've got just over one day until arbitration is wrapped up (11:59 pm EST on the 14th), and open season for trade discussion begins! Thanks to everyone who has their arbitration dollars allocated.
Even with next season in flux due to CBA negotiations, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone update those trade blocks and start letting some offers fly.

Thanks to everyone who has already completed their Arbitration allocations. I appreciate you being on the ball with them.
While we still have a couple of teams still to allocate their arb budgets, a reminder that everyone can still move their money around as they please before the deadline at 11:59 PM on November 14th -- just under one week from tonight.
If anyone has any questions regarding arbitration or anything else, feel free to shoot

Congrats on all of that! I had a year like that in 2016. Thankfully I hadn’t discovered the black hole time sink of fantasy baseball yet. :D

Hey, Party Deckers! Congratulations on making it through another season. Also, a big congratulations to WAMCO on the win! I have a few notes for you. First, arbitration has started, and it's time to allocate your money. Second, I'm stepping down as commissioner, and letting Crispy take over. In a nutshell, I've moved to a new state, bought the first home, gotten a new job, and had a new baby (this is the baby league after all), and all of that since opening day.

Crazy to think that Arbitration starts in just 5 days. Excited to see what shakes out in the offseason between that and trade conversations.

FWIW, that wasn't just a trade ploy on Aug. 3, Diamond Girl! I looked at the math and genuinely couldn't see any way to potentially finish above 2nd. But hey, baseball is nuts (and I'm clearly not a mathematician). And best of all: I still have Manoah!!!

Congrats indeed! I remember everyone thought I had power locked up with cheap Gallo and JDM but I ended up middle of pack there I think. Goes to show that the season is a long one full of twists and turns. Congrats to the top 3 on navigating all of that to finish with trophies. I love this ottoneu stuff. It’s been fun every year!

Congrats Jason! Well deserved title! Even though I’ve been stuck in mediocrity, this league has quickly become my favorite as well.
I’m a Phillies fan, but I think I can get behind that Go Brewers bandwagon

Definitely congrats on the championship Jason! That was well deserved. I'm exhausted and lowkey excited to not think about fantasy baseball for at least a few weeks before getting back into it. I think I'm entering total rebuild territory due to some moves I made late in the season, so I'm excited to tear everything down and build around a couple of prospects! That's really the beauty of this game - each year is just so full of interesting possibilities with our teams. Go Brewers! Steven

Congrats Jason! I would like to bring up a message you sent me a few months ago to remind you that anything is possible:
From WAMCO Geckos on August 3, 2021 3:42 PM: "I can’t really see me finishing first at this point — the numbers don’t really add up, barring a total collapse."
Had a lot of fun this season per usual. I'm a fantasy baseball fanatic, and this has quickly become my favorite league. Thanks everyone!

Thanks for a great (worst-to-first) season, gents! This is such a fun league and I know I'm already looking forward to arbitration and beyond. Please allow me to offer my gratitude (and pints -- but they can only be claimed in London!) to our co-commissioners as well. Bring on 2022!!! Jason

Hey! Any of you fellas interested in joining an Ottoneu football league? Football is really really not my area of expertise these days but a few of my friends are football nerds and expressed interest. I think it could be a fun thing to pass time during the sad days of the baseball off-season. Probably just doing the lowest $20 tier. Lemme know!

No worries, I'll see if I can go in and undo it, but if you're in this league go ahead and veto that trade, that'll help just in case I can't figure out how to undo it from the commissioner side.
-
I actually messed up that trade offer. I must have someone unclicked Luis Garcia. But i do not want to trade Rizzo for nothing. Can we undo that trade? Normally i'd eat my mistake but I don't want to upset the competitive balance of the league.

What now Nevermind the Baseballocks... I kinda blanked after I read the first few words of your text... "Imagine having two no-nos in the same week". Nope. Nope, I can't imagine that at all. Is that what they call an embarrassment of riches?
-
Imagine having two no-nos in a week in your lineup and still being in third place. *Lays down, tries not to cry, cries a lot*

This was the best way to maximize my flexibility without cutting a player I really wanted to hang onto or simply cutting a few $1 guys in the hopes one or two of them would be claimed. So if you're confused, just ask yourself: would you cut one of your guys for $2 Logan Webb? I sure wouldn't
Diamond Girl on
April 11, 2021 11:31 PM

This is no guarantee for a player like Webb, who had received only two bids during his auction (one from Vikings, who currently has no space, and one from Keep It Crispy, who had space to spare). He seemed like a perfect trade partner, so I offered him the deal, and he took it. I now have $3 in space. Had I simply cut my least valuable guy, there’s no way they would have been picked up, and I like all my assets too much to cut a player I can bank on being claimed.
Diamond Girl on
April 11, 2021 11:31 PM

I decided my best route was to trade a player I am willing to cut to a team with cap space. This means I need to A) identify a player that might have value to another team, and B) finding a team with cap space that might want them. I like my players, but Logan Webb stood out as a guy I was willing to cut to free up space. If I had cut him, I would have gotten only $1 in space unless he was claimed.
Diamond Girl on

someone claiming them off waivers; keep in mind, cutting $1 guys provides no certain cap relief whatsoever. And for every unclaimed cut you make, your Cap Penalty grows, which is effectively lowering your salary cap permanently until the potentially unlikely event that said player is claimed.
Diamond Girl on

I am the one who proposed the trade, and here is my rationale:
I have a huge salary crunch right now, which most recently forced me to cut an $8 Anthony Bass (who sucks, but currently has the job). I had no cap space after my most recent acquisition. This is obviously unideal - the ability to bid more than $1 on a FA is crucial. In order to clear up enough cap space to have some flexibility with FAs, I needed to cut guys with at least $4 salaries, or cut $2/$3 in the hopes of som
