I just saw T-mobile is bringing back their free MLB.tv promotion for another year. You can get a free subscription beginning on 3/26! This has been a godsend for remote fans like myself.
Related, the Crimson Strikes will introduce T-mobile patches on their jerseys for the 2024 season.

Draft is a week and a half away, and I've done no prep. I've got you guys right where I want you.

Yeah I mean.. I know as of today, you cant set a lineup. So maybe opening day that becomes available? I always thought it was after the draft that opened up but I might be wrong. I have to Dodgers or Padres I don't think so doesn't really matter for me.

This is what Niv said in 2019 (similar early start): "The auction draft can start whenever you want - you can definitely wait until after March 20th. Any games that happen before your auction draft is marked as done will not count towards final standings."
Then he said this in answer to question about 2024: "Yes, that remains true. Either you can set lineups before 3/20 or you can skip those games."
So...that clarifies nothing, lol.
-
I think the only issue is ... I dont think you can set a lineup until after the draft. I know you can't right now.

Whew, that's what I thought. I think we will stick with the date we have; like Whizzo said having all 12 is a higher priority than drafting before the two games in Korea. But i would still make sure your Dodgers and Padres are active just in case.

I can definitely do the 24th. If folks wanted to push it up before Opening Day, I was just throwing out one alternate date. Sorry for the confusion!
-
Cicely does that mean that you can't do the 24th???

This month is crazy busy for me, but if we moved it up two weeks to THIS SUNDAY the 10th, I could swing it. Not sure about everyone else. Other than that, I'd most likely have to do a week night.
-
Niv stated on the community page that auctions can be scheduled whenever, even after the season starts. There was some ambiguity about whether the South Korea games would could, but I am sure we can live with it either way. If you have Dodger or Padre keepers, you could put them in the lineup now and see what happens.
-
I say we move the draft to mid-April. How well did you choose your keepers? Are you willing to break your budget for the random middle infielder with a .315 career SLG who hits five home runs opening week?
-
I’m fine with this too but just want to make sure the site will allow us to auction after the season officially begins.
-
It’s fine. I understand how tricky it can be to coordinate 12 schedules. All good!
-
Agree with Beer Barrels.
-
IMO, the priority should be to get all 12 owners to the draft. There are 2430 games in a regular season, so missing 2 will not have much impact. Logistically, it may be hard to find a new date before 3/20 that works for everyone. I am fine with whatever, of course.
-
It’s just 2 games so I don’t really give a shit but I’ll do whatever.

I didn't realize we're set to draft after the season started. In that case, yes -- I'd strongly be in favor of moving the date if possible.
-
Just a heads-up for those of you who might not know: the season begins March 20-21 with the Dodgers and Padres playing two games in Korea that will count. If you feel we should alter the draft day/time because of this, let me know, but otherwise, make sure you have your Dodgers and Padres in the starting lineup if you wish to.

Welcome to otto and our fine league! It takes some time to get used to, but it really is the best form of fantasy baseball.

Welcome to the league. You spared me the need to look for a new player. Most of us (at least I think it's still most of us) in the league are part of a Mets fan forum, but we're happy to have anybody. The draft will be 9 pm on Sunday the 24th, so check out who's available in the meantime and we'll be at it sooner than you think!

Great to have you aboard! The atmosphere in this league is very friendly. Chat has been especially entertaining this past year, so hope that continues. The Ottoneu daily lineups and 2-day auctions let you get as invested (or not) as you want to be. Good Luck!

Greetings! Excited to join this league. Active owner, experienced with other keeper and dynasty formats. New to ottoneu. Claimed a team because I'd rather join an established league than mess around with a new league that may or may not be there long term. Looking forward to the season

The 24th works for me. That's because I'm a quarter Irish (plus I have my home league draft on March 17).

So it looks like a 9 pm EST start time works best for people. Does a Sunday night work for everybody? I don't want to take a Saturday night if I don't have to. If Sunday is a go, I would aim for March 24 instead of March 17 on the grounds that some of us might be Irish.

I have some good news RE: the draft
Corey Kluber has retired, thus sparing us all the agony of deciding whether or not to take a flier on him and hope for a rebound to a form somewhat resembling his far-away Cy Young seasons.
We can all now collectively shift our attention to Fernando Rodney's attempted comeback at age 46. Please budget at least $12 for him, as a responsible fantasy owner should.

I am flexible, probably can make anything work. Given that this is a mature league, a later start (9 pm) should not be too much of a problem since most of us can fill holes in the first hour. Raleigh had to miss last year, so let’s try to accommodate this year. 👍
-
After 9pm ET works best for me, generally any night. Mondays aren't great but I can hop in a few minutes late if Monday is the best for others.
-
Weekends would be much better for me. I'm very flexible on weekends. Weeknights will probably not work at all. But again, I understand if what works for everyone else won't work for me. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few (or the one).

I'm pretty open on draft days/times that week. The week before I'm on a work trip so I'd be out.
