• Appreciate GlaDOS noticing erottoneu was somehow on claim a team listing? Someone actually claimed it and made some cuts/nominations. I have removed the owner, re-added players who were cut. If any of the players that were nominated are not bid on and assigned to erottoneu, i'll remove the player.
  
  I'm also going to move Andrew Luck now back to GlaDOS. Thanks to everyone for talking this out, and thanks to glados for accepting this result.

• By the way...Errotoneu did you know your team is showing up on the “claim a team” listing? Not sure if you have renewed the team fee or not but your team can get claimed away I think if it’s on there.

• Seth here weighing in ... my view is that while players are responsible for knowing the rules, in this instance the rules do *not* make note of the fact that a nomination is the equivalent of a minimum bid. For a player that's played this would be a non-issue, but for a new player I think we should recognize the common sense that no one would ever reasonably make that nomination. So I do think we should remove the hit from Erottoneu and re-add it to glados but i would really like to get league consensus here.

• It’s not clear from the rules that nominating someone means you are bidding on them. I would personally be OK with forgiving the cap hit for both erottoneu and GLaDOS, fka TWISTED HEAD, understanding this is also not a perfect solution.

• At the very least, this is spicing things up before the season kicks off. My view is, there needs to be a way to enforce that there is a “cost” to starting auctions on free agents and discourage just nominating anyone for the laugh. Taking a $15 salary cap hit seems like a reasonable cost to pay. Could’ve confirmed rules before nominating, just sayin’.

  Also you can't nominate someone you cut, so you'd be stuck with him at $15 until someone else nominated him, which is unlikely...
  
  I personally think that this is the funniest outcome to the joke of nominating Luck, so I vote for you keeping his $15 cap hit as a tax, but I don't really care all that much.

• The rules say Vickrey style, but don't say anything about nomination equating to an opening bid, nor do I see anywhere that such a system is inherent to Vickrey, which really doesn't usually have nominations or opening bids. (Also as a technical matter, it's not actually sealed first price, which is just a blind auction in which the highest bidder pays his full bid even if much higher than second--"sealed first" just means a blind (sealed) auction in which the highest bid (first) pays his full price. This looks more like modified "sealed second" in which the high bidder pays second bid +1 (unless there's a tie). I only bring that up to explain that neither sealed first nor sealed second means anything with respect to nominations.) And the Wikipedia link incorporated in the rules doesn't say anything about nominations or any parallel concept.
  
  If people think the best way to go about it is cutting Luck for a $15 cap hit, then month-after-month buying and cutting him for $8, then $4, then $2, then $1, then cutting him in the offseason, that's fine. Just figured I'd put it up to you all, without contempt or bitterness as to the result. Seth said if folks agreed he'd remove Luck without cap hit.

• You can cut Luck and take a cap hit of $15 instead. There is then some window where you can't nominate him for auction again. After that time, you could nominate him again and presumably cut him for an $8 cap hit. You could keep doing this until the end of the season if need be

• Yeah, when you start an auction you are in essence placing the first bid at the minimum amount (in Luck's case, it was the $30). I honestly thought someone was hoping to punch a lottery ticket in case he somehow miraculously changed his mind. The rules do cite that this is Vickrey auction style which means sealed first price auction.

• Hey guys, I fucked up apparently. I nominated Andrew Luck as a joke (not a good one), expecting nobody to bid and for him to go back to the free agent pool. Unbeknownst to me until about an hour ago when he was awarded to me at a cost of $30, by nominating him I automatically have to bid his cap hit. It doesn't say that in the rules (I read them a few times in the last week after taking over Stuart's team, as I've never done Ottoneu) and even after I nominated Luck it didn't say I had put in a bid (or else I would have brought this up immediately after my dumb nomination and not today after the damage was done). In the bid section after nomination, it just had a blank for the last 24 hours, which I never filled in.
  
  I guess my question is what to do? Can Seth drop him from my team without cap hit? Or do I carry Luck as a token of shame for my bad joke?
  
  If it makes any difference, I promise I wouldn't be bringing it up if I did something dumb and later found out I just didn't read the rules. Likewise, if anyone knows of a place that explains that you agree to bid when you nominate, I'm cool with taking Luck. That would be my bad and I'd live with the consequence.
