Hence them being a one year "loan" and not just giving a team money for their salary cap
GingerLivesMatter at Sep 30, 2020 3:45 PM -
They are for the year. After the season ends, they do indeed disappear. You have to make cuts or trades to get under the cap before the new season starts
GingerLivesMatter at Sep 30, 2020 3:45 PM -
Hey how do loans work? Do they need to be paid back to the lending team at some point or does that "debt", and/or extra spending power on a team's payroll, just disappear when the season ends? The rules seem a little vague to me.

Players that are cheaper than the value they will deliver next year is the best target. Obviously that's subjective. Over the years there will be some great values and some players kept for too much.
GingerLivesMatter at Sep 17, 2020 12:20 AM -
Guys on IL for me
Not a Purdy Good Time at Sep 16, 2020 8:35 PM -
So this may be a dumb question, but I'm thinking out loud and this is my first time on this format. Once you are out of the hunt for this year, how exactly do you "rebuild" for next year? I realize there is keepers, but it seems like the arbitration process would screw over most keepers that aren't insanely good. And even incoming college players seem pretty overpriced, considering very few rookies have immediate fantasy value. So when you are trying to trade your good players as a rebuilding team, what are you targeting?

Someone would be pretty bold to carry an illegal roster into a second week also because they couldn't set their lineup
That's Sir Purr Bro at Sep 14, 2020 11:04 AM -
Gotcha. I just saw it happening today and wanted to know the deal.
Pulling Kierkegaard at Sep 13, 2020 4:18 PM -
Correct. Blatant and fragrant abuse of that fact will result in me forcing cuts, but generally it happens when someone wins an auction and hasn't had the opportunity to make a cut before the games start. I can't see how it would really help all that much
GingerLivesMatter at Sep 13, 2020 1:59 PM -
Hey, so I want to make sure I understand this correctly. It looks like you can still get points if you have an illegal roster/salary cap number as long as you've already set your lineup, right?

To whomever claims Harrison Butker after I had to cut him, I will trade with you to get him back. My roster was illegal and I couldn’t even make a trade to make it legal so I had to cut someone. I like Butker but he was a kicker so he had to go.
Keep Pounding at Sep 11, 2020 10:36 PM -
Also, there are loans on some trades. Don't put yourself in a hole by either doing or not doing a loan
Not a Purdy Good Time at Sep 11, 2020 8:34 PM -
Thx, yeah it's making sense now
Pulling Kierkegaard at Sep 11, 2020 8:11 PM -
As an example, if i had 15 of 20 spots filled and only 4$ left, my roster is illegal. If i had 16/20 with 4$ left, my roster is legal. If i have 16/21 with 4$ left, my roster is still legal. Does that make sense?
GingerLivesMatter at Sep 11, 2020 10:15 AM -
Also, you may see people with 21 or more than 20 max roster spots. If a player is on the IR, you are allowed an additional roster spot, until that person comes off the IR. However, you dont get any additional money and any pickups you make are still beholden to cap penalties when they are cut. Your roster can also be illegal if you have less than a dollar for every open roster spot left, but only up to 20.

Not sure why my message was sent again. Thanks for the info Jags
Pulling Kierkegaard at Sep 11, 2020 10:05 AM -
Hey, I'm trying to figure out some of the finer points of the salary cap and roster limits. I see some teams with more than 20 players, and some with negative salary cap numbers. I read the rules but can't entirely make sense of this part. Can teams still get points while they have an "illegal" roster or salary cap number? What does either prevent us from doing? How are we penalized?
Pulling Kierkegaard at Sep 11, 2020 10:04 AM -
You cannot set your lineup, make trades, or make bids after your team has become illegal. My team is currently illegal because there is a trade pending in which I will recieve salary reprieve, so I am allowing myself to be illegal until this evening.
