I’ll do $240/$110/$50. I’m also waiting to hear back from Niv on the $100 tier change.
Springfield Atoms at Jan 2, 2021 12:14 AM -
I’m cool with the $240/120/40 split. Looking back through the messages that seems to be the percentage breakdown used most in the past. Last year was weird because 2nd place didn’t buy in and the decision was made to pay first place more. Also, let’s convert this league ASAP so we can fill any spots before arbitration.
Los Angeles Dons at Jan 1, 2021 4:14 PM -
I’d like to see (240/110/50) that way 3rd get his initial league fee back, just sayin’

I’m in for next year, regardless of the cost. It’s been fun. Congrats to the Don(s). Let’s talk trades!
Uncle Rico’s 82 Team at Dec 29, 2020 6:54 PM -
Thanks, TTBNL. When Barkley went down early on, I thought this season was going to be a bust, but here we are. Definitely think we should move this to a $100 tier next season to guarantee everyone has skin in the game. And if we think that’s too big a jump, especially if we have to incorporate new owners, maybe we do $50 in 2021 and $100 in 2022. As for this year, if it wasn’t said upfront, I would go off whatever you paid out last year.
Los Angeles Dons at Dec 28, 2020 2:25 AM -
It looks like a third straight runner up finish for me. I’m starting to feel Iike the Buffalo Bills of the 90s. Congrats LA Dons!
Unfortunately only 8 of the 12 teams participated in the side pot this season. I’m thinking a fair split of the $400 pot is $240/$120/$40 (60/40/10%) arguments with that?
I’d prefer to keep the side pot for next season to have more prize money but would also be willing to have Niv change this to a $50 or $100 tier for next season (we did $70 total this year).
Is everyone planning on playing next season?

I think the LeagueSafe payments that teams paid should be refunded back to each owner. Not comfortable with people making deals that involve other people’s money
HU6KIES at Nov 18, 2020 10:57 AM -
Is that not the definition of collusion? You made a trade with part of the deal being a potential exchange of money? Unless that was just in jest. I wasnt going to add my two cents but that last part doesnt sit well.
Fantasy Football Team at Nov 18, 2020 10:48 AM -
Ah, the truth comes out in the end!! It should be a good stretch run, good luck to everyone.
Los Angeles Dons at Nov 18, 2020 10:43 AM -
Sure, I don't necessarily expect widespread agreement on this -- just explaining how I'm evaluating the deal. TTBNL probably doesn't agree with my salary assessment either, which is fine. He approached me about getting Jones/Boyd (which is why I didn't shop the trade). And FWIW, I don't necessarily think they're overpriced, only that their prices are moving in the opposite direction of their actual value. So from my perspective it's a choice between potentially dropping them after this season and getting nothing but the salary savings, or trading them for assets whom I believe are underpriced AND opening up more salary.
Oh, TTBNL also said he'd give me half his winnings if I give him Jones and Boyd for pennies -- just want that on the record. ;-)
Under New Management at Nov 18, 2020 10:03 AM -
Fair enough, thanks for the explanation. It's cool to see owners taking the time to think strategically, and you can't have enough of that in a league like this. For the sake of debate though, I'd make two points. One, I'm not sure if TTBNL agrees with your salary assessment of Jones/Boyd or not. If they do think the players are overpriced, then there's no commitment to keep the players beyond this season. If he thinks they're undervalued or properly valued (like I do), then they're not only going to ride them down the stretch, but they're going to have the option to keep them next season. This is all to say, the notion that Jones/Boyd are declining assets and increasing the risk for TTBNL doesn't really resonate with me. And two, I appreciate the strategy of swapping current value for future value (which is what I think you're getting at), but (and this is just sour grapes from me) shop that trade!!
Los Angeles Dons at Nov 17, 2020 11:46 PM -
Sorry I missed these messages. TTBNL has my basic strategy right, so I can't really add much, except to say I disagree about the balance of risk. I'm offloading two players in their prime who, although currently much better than the players I got back, are far more likely to decline in value than to increase, whereas Hardman, Shenault, and Hall are all players who look primed to see a value spike -- indeed I'm optimistic about all of their outlooks (obviously). And that's to say nothing about the extra dollar value tied up in two declining assets, which increases risk for the Jones/Boyd owner. The way I see it, TTBNL is the one taking on more risk to go after a championship this year, even though it hampers his team building ability in the future, given the salary he has tied up. Or that's one way to look at it at least. Admittedly it's probably not a deal I would have done if I thought I had a chance this season.
Under New Management at Nov 17, 2020 2:51 PM -
Thanks for the background on how the trade came together. It seems above board like you said. Though my original concern about the balance of the trade still stands. This is always a tricky subject because of the many different ways owners will value players and salary across multiple seasons. At the end of the day, I respect two owners dealing in good faith, and who's to say how this trade will shake out over time?
But in my personal valuation and estimation, it seems one side is counting on three players coming good while the other is getting a top 10 RB and top 15 WR (on good salary). Maybe I'm missing something, but the balance of risk seems one sided to me, regardless of how it came together.
Los Angeles Dons at Nov 15, 2020 1:45 AM -
I don’t want to speak for Burlington here but I’ll give the story from my side and hopefully they chime in.
I approached with the idea of trading for Jones a few weeks ago. Burlington’s response had remained focus on cutting salary, that they were focusing on the future since Dak’s injury. Clearly dissatisfied with the team at this point, wanting to add cheap NFL players and devy guys for next season and beyond.
It is fair to mention that all three players Hardman, Shenault & Hall were hand picked by Burlington. They had determined those to be players on my roster that fit the future build. On top of getting players they liked, they’re saving $59 (plus whatever happens in arbitration) for next season.
This is all above board. I don’t know this person. There’s no collusion. Hopefully Burlington can express their thought process too to clarify.
Springfield Atoms at Nov 14, 2020 1:08 PM -
Not trying to interfere with legit business, but can one of the parties to the current trade explain the rationale and balance of the deal on the table? Not sure how Aaron Jones and Tyler Boyd equate to two significantly inferior NFL players and a college player not NFL eligible until 2022. Hope I'm missing something, so could someone please explain? (Trying to not come off as a dick, but I think it's important to explain because it looks very one-sided on its face)
