After scrambling due to the mild surprise of Yordan not being available. I'll take Jon Duplantier, SP Arizona

Michel Baez is a go. Prepare Yoenis is up
-
Michel Baez . . .assuming he's not owned or ineligible and I missed it.
-
Syndergaardians is up
-
I will pick Royce Lewis. Based on my Fangraphs ID and Twins fandom, I am guessing that you knew this was coming!
-
Makes perfect sense. I had it pretty well understood, except for the MiLB eligibility. Thanks for clearing it up.

you now own carter kieboom for $0 until he makes it to the majors, at which point he'll cost you $1. If you hadn't picked him for 5MiLB, but bought him at auction for $1 (assuming he doesn't make the majors this year) he would get an increase to $2 at the end of the 2018 season.

to expand on that - just because someone is *eligible* for 5MiLB does not make them *ineligible* for the regular auction or 40-man rosters. Anyone in the ottoneu universe can be auctioned and owned on a 40-man roster except for those players owned on someone's 5MiLB roster.

10-4, so any prospect is available for auction pickup in season. However, they can't be on the 5 MiLB roster at any point after that, so to hold on to them I'd have to keep them and their yearly salary increase (is it still $1 in this league, since they are in the minors?) Thanks! Sorry for being half dumb.

anyone who's not currently on a 5MiLB roster is available for auction anytime auctions are allowed. So Kingery will be available for the regular auction on 3/10.

lol. Just kidding. Ok, quick question then, no big deal, my bad guys. Is he eligible in the auction, in that case, since he's never been up in the majors? Since he was on a roster here though, he's eligible?

unfortunately, Kingery is not eligible. He was owned at the end of last year, and just recently cut.

He's ineligible, is he not?
Vegas Baby on
February 16, 2018 12:36 PM
-
that's correct - a prospect that was cut on say, september 1st, is eligible. If people had the opportunity to pick them up in auction, but nobody did, then they're eligible.

Some clarification: the rules say players with "salary or cap penalty of ≥ $1 in the current season" are ineligible as are player owned at the end of the previous season. Does this mean players owned last season, but cut before September/October are eligible (they would have a cap penalty for 2017, but not 2018)?

Found the doc, smh. My bad, guys. I knew I had seen it, it was another sheet on the MiLB roster thing. That's what I get for copying down a local copy to manipulate.
