Welcome! You're not the only new player here. I've been onboard for a few weeks and already got a lot of trade action. Buckle up!
-
Welcome, Patrick. Glad you could join us! A lovely early Christmas present.

Thanks for the welcome! I hope it wasn’t presumptuous to just claim Montreal, but I’ve been looking to join a league and I’m in it for the long haul. This is my first Ottoneu league but I’ve played and run other leagues for years. Looks like I’ve got some salary to shed now, so I’m interested in dealing! Excited to be part of the league. -Patrick
-
Welcome to the league Patrick! Glad to have you on board
-
Am sure it won’t come to that. It’s Dec 12th - I won’t start panicking yet.

Not yet, no. Both teams appear on the abandoned teams list. One person did get in touch but went cold when they looked at the rosters!

Do we have any leads on new owners for Adios or Montreal?
-
Hey all, I’m looking to shed some salary and move some high price pieces. So hit me up with offers for guys like Trout, Yelich, JRam, Rendon, DeGrom, Snell, Paxton, and Kenley
-
Light the stove, folks! Congrats to Juan Soto for drawing the most arbitration money in our first year of allocation. He can buy a nice six pack with the money now that he's of legal drinking age.

Thanks, Champagne!

Actually, I'm wrong! It ends on the 14th this year (today), even more urgent than I thought, haha. Looking forward to the rest of the off-season!
-
Glad to have you back Champagne! Just a friendly reminder though that your arb disappears if it's not submitted by tomorrow.
-
Hi all - apologies for the day. We've been away for the weekend, but keen to continue. Will sort arb out this week.

No word from Champagne via ottoneu. Have just emailed both owners directly.

Got a slack volunteer to to MM’s arb, so it’s less pressing to find a new owner for him now. Any word from champagne?
-
I posted in the slack to see if anyone would be willing to be a proxy arb for Montreal, even if they wouldn’t take the team afterwards.
-
I've sent the owners of Champagne a message asking if they're on board for 2020 and whether they'll participate in arbitration before the deadline. Montreal is the only other team that hasn't allocated any $. We're still looking for an owner for that team, ditto Adios Pelota, so feel free to share details to anyone you think might be interested.

Well also Champagne, it says their last visit to the site was Oct 22. Anyone know if they are still on board? My understanding is that we need to get those arb dollars allocated or they will disappear after Nov 15
-
I guess my question only applies to Montreal Mystery's team, as Nott's Outlaws and Adios Pelota have allocated their arb dollars.

Are we going to have new owners BEFORE the end of arbitration? If we don't get new owners until AFTER arbitration, will those arb dollars be lost? I would think so, because we can make trades after arbitration ends, right?

I know 2 people that are interested in joining the league. I’ll send them links to the teams
-
Steve, thanks for getting the league off the ground and giving us our first entry into the Ottoverse! I've posted up in the owners-wanted leaderboard on Slack and linked the two currently unowned teams there.
-
Hey guys - just finished arbitration but have decided to not return in 2020. I'll have lots happening on the family front and don't anticipate being able to give the game enough of my attention either in the run up to the draft or over the course of the season, so I'm going to have a season or two in the fantasy wilderness! Thanks to you all for being good sports over the last couple of years, and good luck to everyone for the coming year.

@Adios the email should be inbound from our friend at this point. Let us know if he needs to resend it
-
I know someone who's interested in taking over for one of our departing owners as well.
-
According to this link, salary increases should take effect today, so before arbitration. https://community.ottoneu.com/t/end-of-the-2019-baseball-season-megathread/6196/6

Do salary increases take effect before or after arbitration?

Thanks to all for a great season - the league was engaged and active all year and that made this year even more enjoyable than the last. Looking forward to having a couple new managers join us next year and continuing to grow the league. Arb starts in two weeks - there is no off-season!
-
Congrats to MD and LM on the great seasons! Looking forward to next year!

I never even knew there was a global leaderboard.... Anyway congrats to Monroe Doctrine on a runaway victory which puts my desperate (and also futile) attempts to reach the lofty heights of 9th to shame. Two 10th place finishes are not much to write home about. Oh well there's always next season - looking forward to that already.
-
Congrats MD on an awesome season - for topping our league and the global fangraphs pts list, too. And congrats to reigning champ LM for another great year and also hitting the global leaderboard. MM, NO - thanks for the memories :) Completely understand the stresses that come with juggling multiple leagues! Godspeed. MD - I can't see any issues with inviting your yahoo pal to fill a vacancy. Invite away. Will enjoy the postseason and then think about next season/filling the other spot.

@ commish after raving about Otto for the last two seasons, another one of the friends from our Yahoo league is ready to take the plunge if we need to fill a team. Notts, Montreal, been a pleasure having you both in the league this season. Best of luck with your other teams!

Since we’re on the topic I won’t be returning either as I’m also in far too many leagues and I didn’t put a great effort into this one. Congrats to Monroe Doctrine and cheers to all.
-
Hi folks, just to let you all know I'm not going to be returning for 2020. I found it too much to keep up with 3 leagues' auctions and trade talks. Hopefully you'll find someone to take over - it's not a terrible roster, just a terrible OF! Congrats to Monroe Doctrine on the win :D
-
I would have voted yes if earlier in season ... just not to see him auctioned/cut for salary. it's so late in season .. moot point.

I don’t think “some” begins to describe how long he’s gonna be in prison. At least I hope it doesn’t.
-
I'm fine with taking on the penalty. Hope he gets some jail time.
-
I personally vote no. It's a different circumstance, and you only have to eat the cap penalty for another 10 days anyways.
-
Obviously not the same as Skaggs--but should Vazquez merit similar cap treatment?
-
Just for fun...those who are interested should go look at the P/IP rates from last season compared to this one. If you tease out the HR/9 numbers, our league average jumped from 1.1 to 1.3. I think 5/12 teams were below 1.0, and the lowest this year is ~1.05.
So if you 're feeling down about your pitching and the homers you're seeing ding points off your pitching every night, blame Manfred and Rawlings.
-
Looking to deal Encarnacion, Schoop, Gregorius if anyone’s interested!
-
Thanks Chin Music - that worked!
-
I'm in complete agreement with everyone on the penalty-free cut.
@OYY. Have you seen this article on how to manage Ohtani and other two-way players in lineups: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/two-way-players-on-the-lineup-page-shohei-ohtani/3427? Does that solve the issue?

No problems with Monroe's suggestion - stuff like that and the usual rules should go out of the window. Another question - I have Brendan McKay as a 1B / SP but the system won't let me put him in a pitcher slot. Any ideas how that can be fixed?
