Mine is the most likely collapse. Counting the last two weeks and the next 5, I don't play a single team with a losing record.
-
With 5 weeks left, collapses from J, Eulipions, or Learning Curve could give some drama to Hoyas, Speed, Sportsballs, or Stewie...
-
I tried- Paisley staged a successful comeback on me yesterday. -sigh- If only I had managed to swing that trade with NOTural things would apparently have been way different. ;)
-
Seems like we're going to have a SUPER boring race to the finish (in terms of playoff qualifying excitement). All divisions are at least a 3 game lead and the final wild card spot is 2 games plus 1500 points.

Let me try a different approach. First off, I get that anyone would want Bellinger. But he's a young player I can build around so it would take a blockbuster deal where you were openly on the wrong side of the transaction for me to even consider it. Players openly on the block-- Pitchers: Kluber, Peacock, Vargas, Eflin, Kimbrel, Gsellman, Mahle, Jansen (?), Jeffries, Gsellman, Soria, and Trivino; Offense: Gregorius, Choo, Jones, Dickerson, Schoop, Hernandez, Lowrie, and Barnhart

Looks like I am also out on the playoffs this year, so I am open to trades as well to help with your playoff push. I am looking for high end prospects or young and cheap MLB talent.
-
With 9 injured players I'm probably out of it this season. Consequently I am open to trade offers. Good deals for future talent will be considered.

Sorry, I missed your Q Speed! Not necessarily. The top team in each division gets in. Then the top three records (who aren't division winners) take the next three spots.
-
Do the top 2 teams from each of our divisions make the playoffs?
-
Yes- only 7 starts for the extended week. More info: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/summary-of-new-per-matchup-gs-cap-league-option-for-2019-season/4674
-
I think so, but Coleman will have to tell us that for sure.
-
Are we still regulated to just seven starts for that 10 day stretch?
-
There are no games those first few days, so there is no lineup to set; however, the week is longer because it includes the weekend and the following week.
-
What is the scenario with next week and the ASG? Does Ottoneu go on Hiatus for those three days? Or are we still supposed to make up lineups?
-
Not to make light after the tragedy of Skaggs passing, but can we all agree Monday's suck (and most Thursday's)? I literally have 6 available players today.
-
I don't think any of us can complain about awful luck with our teams compared with Devon. She had a player literally die today. (I am not making light of that - it's awful and a real person has passed away. I'm just pointing out the FAR less significant impact on our league as I was curious who had him.)
-
Always looking....
-
Forecasting the future here is not an exact science, of course, yet the goal of the game. But I would say that we should give NOTural the credit (as any owner) he deserves for being able to vet a deal on his own. That being said- NOTural and I have discussed it and I'm going to withdraw the trade and we can try to rework it in light of this discussion.
-
I think that this is a great discussion about trade markets and the purpose of vetoes. I would say that all owners should propose speculative trades and expect back and forth from the owner proposed to. I feel trades (and the corresponding market) are a very fun part of the process. Vetoes should be about collusion and Favortisim (imho). Owners should absolutely keep an eye on the health and needs of their team (and probably know more than the league about what they need).
-
But Coleman IS the one who proposed it, so to look at differently is not dealing with the facts. Yes - I agree with you that this is a way to learn. I am simply saying I believe Noturals saw 4 guys for 2 guys and that was the end of it (more or less). And it's more a matter of Coleman's knowledge than his ranking for me. It's one thing to see Ryan Braun is doing well this year. It's another to know how likely that is to continue.
-
I disagree, Dave. True, Coleman may have more knowledge but he proposed the trade and N had as much access to all the metrics as Coleman. Had I made the trade, would it be as critiqued? Or is it a matter of Coleman's ranking/position? Plus, for us newbies, how else do we learn? I'm not trying to be flippant. As one of the members that is new to this concept (not just this league but Fantasy baseball as a whole) I have had quite the education these past few weeks.
-
I don't think it is collusion or favoritism, but I think it is a very knowledgeable owner taking advantage of a less knowledgeable owner. (Taking advantage is a harsher term than what I mean, but I am not sure how to phrase it as I don't think Coleman set out to fleece anyone.) I think we should try to protect against that as well.
-
I approved the trade, and I did try and trade for Goldy earlier in the season , my comment was not meant to veto a trade. The league veto should, in my thinking, be used for blatant collusion or favoritism... that was not the case here I believe - just light value for a superstar and a player whose rise to MLB is still sometime off. Thatβs all .
-
I proposed the trade. Did anyone else try to get these players from NOTural for a better deal? If so then there is a problem here, of course, and collusion or favoritism absolutely should be vetoed. However, if not: maybe trade chatter and offers should increase a bit more in this league. N has had a limited squad since the draft so I expect he would have entertained deals that return volume. But N can speak for himself. (BTW- I've offered N the chance to reconsider in light of this discussion.)
-
You say Competitive Balance when we could be saying Trade Market. Sportsballs- sorry I missed your question. Answered in next post.
-
Everyone is, of course, free to do whatever they want, but I believe Coleman doesn't lose a single week the rest of the season if this trade goes through. That kind of impact is very bad for competitive balance. And while I agree this move helps Coleman this season - it also greatly helps him going forward as both Odorizzi and DeJong are young and cheap. So it's not a win now move - it's a win now and later move.
-
I receive only 2 players who are overperforming this year- The whole point of a win-now move (the position I am in). It is also notable as a revenue-neutral move.
-
From my perspective (defensively, of course, as I'm fighting a "HUGELY unbalanced" label)- I see Braun as performing well above his $5 price, Profar has the potential to return to last year's form (and has positional flexibility), and two prospects for a team that is short on players and in all likelihood playing for the future. The prospects are a risk (but the point of future forward) and Braun and Profar production for now (with possible uptick). In return- [continued]
-
Who proposed the trade?
-
Encouraging a veto on that trade. Coleman receives two young, cheap all-stars this year for a past his prime OF, a guy who had 1 good year and is awful this year, and two minor leaguers. Seems like a HUGELY unbalanced trade to me.

Sportsballs- that's sucks! Although under the previous rules you would have only had 2 SP slots per day; so the result would probably have been the same!
-
The curse of the seven starts enters a new level of hell. I had three available starters last night. I opted to run two of them out so I would have a spot available later in the weekend (I already know one of the days this week I'll have no one as that has been how my rotation has worked out). The one I chose to sit? Mike Fiers. Who no hit Cincy last night. FML.

No winning in this war of attrition.
-
This is a change from last year- where the 162 limit for each position was enforced in the playoff and, ironically, caused me to lose to Paisley IX on the last game of the last day of the Championship match-up. For info: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/h2h-gameplay-strategy-discussion/3458/108?u=dahdscear
-
FYI: the Position Player Game Started Limit (162 starts) is only enforced for the regular season of our league. The final 4 weeks of the season when we are in playoffs there are no positional start caps. This means that any league that has playoffs effectively has no positional games started limits (unlike the rest of Ottoneu). Unless you somehow figure out how to get 162 starts before Sept. (Which may be mathematically possible, but I'm too lazy to figure it out.)

It's the 10IL creating havoc. That's why next year MLB moves it back to 15IL. Too many teams exploiting the 10 day for extra players.
-
These injuries sucking all the fun out of this.....
-
You have an eye for crippled talent, Dave...
-
So I now have 10 guys on the IL. This is fun.
