Just a reminder, for those of you eyeing Rizzo: You are required to have at least $1 available for every spot on your roster. So if you have a FULL ROSTER and cut 5 players to free up, say, $55, you have really only freed up the ability to pick up a $51 player. In other words: your roster is ONLY legal when you have $0 cap space IF you also have 0 roster spots left. If you have 1 roster spot left, you must also have $1 cap space left, etc... If you still have questions about this message me.

And a complete game with 14Ks is worth 7 points more.

I now know how much a no hitter with three walks is worth. 71.6 points. Paxton did it today in Seattle's shutout of Toronto.

Nice week! Couple of very close finishes! The high scoring Hoyas! dealt their first defeat by the always dangerous Return to Glory by just over 9 points- coming back strong over the weekend for the win! And our two other high scorers ended up separated by less than 11, Paisley IX sneaking out the win over J's Place (who now faces that only undefeated team left, Godot, this week). Do Rizzo and Notural continue their strong turnarounds with this week's match-ups? Does Detroit get that 1st win?

I think you meant to say, “you can teach a man to fish if he reads these 12 analytic driven articles about fishing”

You can teach a man to fish; but you can't stop Daniel from being and ass.

Typical Coleman response...”read these 9 articles to understand how to play in this league” lol

...... once a weak, but having average pitchers every day of the week is better. I'm not sure that's what we are aiming for here. But for now, unless everyone recognizes this glitch in the league, its not going to be much fun for those who don't have a number of starting pitchers so that they can stream them. fyi, need to read this in reverse order! Just my two cents.

Looking at the statistics, while I lead in some categories, the juxtaposition of me having the lowest at bats and the highest innings pitched demonstrates the point. While my offensive numbers are pretty good, many of my points are derived from arbitraging the innings pitched, which gives you points all by itself. The variance in innings pitched across the league demonstrates that it is more about having someone pitching, not necessarily having the best pictures. So having Sales is great ....

After giving this some thought, I've decided to post a message about overall strategy. I'm here for the fun of a competitive league; I enjoy the strategy and think of this as much as a math problem as a way to make following baseball more interesting. That said, it became apparently to me fairly quickly that good strategy dictated carrying as many starting pitchers as possible. It turns out, its just not strategy. Strategy works within the boundaries of fairness and competitiveness......

Shout out to Stewie's Minions and Goggles- Last week's win by Goggles was by .03 points! Hot Damn. Hoyas still on a tough stretch of schedule, but tearing it up: Beating the Goggles, the defending champ, withstanding and slowing down J's Place's points hot streak, and now playing 2-time champ, Return to Glory. Not to toot my own horn, but last Wed, Godot scored more than 250 points, on the strength of 7 HRs, earned a "Rare Sighting" badge only claimed twice in the history of Otton

Gonna be a good week this week! Hottest team in the league last week (Hoyas!) playing the hottest overall team (J's Place); and the high powered offense of the Paisley IX takes on perennial powerhouse Return to Glory. And look at that divisional parity: Mirrored records all around! Even the divisions are living up to their names: Gold is maintaining the highest avg with 1528.7 points p/team, then Silver at 1508.65, and Bronze at 1485.7. Well done all through the first 2 matches!

I'm pretty sure I'm staying... but I might consider joining your yahoo league as well! ;) Don't worry- Bellinger and Votto will kick into gear and you'll start winning. Talk to me at the All Star Break; when you're in 2nd and I'm in 10th.

Just a reminder everyone: Check your lineups every day. Learn from the sad tale of the woe of BackoutGaitlin- whose 2 starters had beautiful games... on his bench. Kluber and Scherzer combined for over 150 points. No shame in being busy! But it can bite you in this game! BlackoutGaitlin gets a beer on me anytime he's up in KC. If anyone is having trouble with their lineups for some reason send me an email: coleman.crenshaw@gmail.com

of pretty much any stat. And finally: trade some of that speed away! The economy of trades and roster construction are the backbone of this league (or, at least, my enjoyment of this league). That is, unless we've convinced everyone that speed is worthless!
-
No worries! It will be interesting to see how stolen bases (as well as other scoring categories that favor the fast, triples come to mind) will impact the scoring statistically. If you haven't fiddled with the Standings page yet there are a couple of customizable graphs that might give insight once we pass the small sample size horizon. I'd also recommend browsing fangraphs and rotographs for discussions/articles on the value of stolen bases. Some smart people have been needing out on the weight

I definitely had the rules and am not crying foul; just making a point. I voted for this change because it would allow Coleman to avoid making manual adjustments. As far as I know, that much worked! To me there was more management strategy in the old league. But its still early and we'll see as they season progresses.

It is true that the scoring system is different. I think we are all working to adjust as fast as we can. Even though we all had the scoring system prior to cutting players, drafting, and whatnot. Except, of course, Hollis, and to a lesser extent Ben. Good on you NOTural and Blackout.
-
having a fast team and lots of stolen bases is substantially smaller this year; something I did not account for when keeping players.... Live an learn.

Godot, Under the Yahoo rules of our league last year, stolen bases were equal to 1/13th of your results in that they were a separate statistical category to win. I was therefore able to select players that would dominate that category.
Since my mostly successful strategy there is now irrelevant, revealing it here is of no moment. My strategy was to get players to dominate 7 of the statistical categories, one of which was stolen bases. Now I have a fast team but the statistical weight of....
