Bryce is Nice's trade block has been updated!
-
I agree. And it's almost impossible to make a trade when only like 3 teams are paying attention right now. And what happens if these people don't check their teams before the cut down date? Just gonna be stuck over budget?
-
We still have an October 2, a May!, and a no owner. Not trying to cause a fuss, just want a full league if I’m paying $50.
-
Great to see the interest in making this league more active! Let's hold off, though, on getting rid of any of the inactive members. Some of these guys have been in this league over a decade. Previously, we used a different platform where there was generally no activity until March. I think some of these guys are still in that mode, but were planning on playing in 2019. I'll ping the ones I know.

I say get rid of them now and try to fill those spots. If they haven't checked in that long then they can't be too interested in playing.
-
Besides Gonats, it looks like we have 3 other inactive teams. 2 of them haven’t checked in since before the summer! Do we want to replace these guys now?

Eskimo Brothers's trade block has been updated!

Hey guys, new team owner here. Hoping to make this league more active! Also, as you can see my team is WAY over the cap. Looking for some cap relief if anyone has any offers for me.

Active Team's trade block has been updated!

Just claimed this team. Andrew, I’m the guy that messaged you. Looks like there are quite a few inactive teams. I hoping to help get things moving.

Please remove me from this league

With only 5 teams allocating arbitration . (1 of them has left, and 1 is me so 3) I am going to leave for a more active league
Thanks for the opportunity

Please remove me from this league

I will not be returning to this league. I don’t like weekly setup, teams did not even show up for the draft, along with some other issues.

Just wondering if we will be replacing inactive managers with active managers for next season?

Thanks for letting us know, K-Town and best of luck in future leagues. If anyone else has thoughts or comments about the league (good or bad), please share

As mentioned, I'm abandoning this team. The shenanigans aside, I'm not a big fan of this roto set-up and will be moving on. You can mark my league as "abandoned".

Congratulations Average Joe’s Gym, you dominated the league this year.

If you’ll give me a loan for all of Kluber’s salary and had another proven roto commodity batter to add, I’d give you Paxton and a couple of my back end hitters gladly.
-
Moving on... I'd also like to deal Corey Kluber before the trade deadline. So, if you are looking for Cy Young Award-level starting pitching, send me a message. I could also deal Contreras, Ozuna and Hand. No reasonable offers refused!

And I refute the claimed mentality that odds are low that AC can make up the difference, seeing as that he’s tied in 4th. By that logic, everyone save for Big Blue, Average Joes and Yu Tang should just give up because their seasons are over.
-
No one here is doubting your ability to run a team. Nor your penchant for winning, especially if you’re able to make moves like this consistently.
I was already planning to leave this league but a move like this and dialogue with a player that becomes so combative such as this just seals it. I wish the rest of you guys luck crowning AC as Champion of the World and most amazing Ottoneu trader...but i’m Not sticking around for shady crap like this.

I think I've explained my logic for trading Stanton for Story in a previous post. (FWIW, I have always liked Story, I drafted him for $1 when he was a rookie.) Also, although I appreciate the concern, you don't need to worry about my ability to manage my team. I have been in this league for almost 20 years; I have won it 5 times and am, in fact, the reigning champ.

Correct, YTC and I do not know each other. We have never met nor have we played together prior to this year.

BBB- for clarification, we don't. For you both, I had no intention of dealing Story for anything less than what I thought could potentially give me a chance at catching Average Joe's this year: as he's a young, cost-controlled, core piece of my lineup. Milan blew me away with an offer, much to my surprise, and here we are. Whether I think the trade is "fair" is somewhat irrelevant since I feel like I'm coming out ahead; what matters is what Milan thinks since you two think he's getting
-
Not picking a fight either it just looks funny especially if you guys know each other IRL
-
Either way - i’m Not telling you how to run your team. I’m just disagreeing with the fairness of the trade, as the trade itself impacts us all across the standings.
-
And I agree on the fact that we all view our teams under different lights, but when multiple people view a trade as lopsided, that tends to give some creedance to that side of the argument. Given that we paid to play in these leagues, I fully believe that the veto power is a necessary tool to avoid disparity, one owner taking Advantage of another’s lack of knowledge, etc. (Disclaimer - i’m Not suggesting either is the case here. I believe you believe it’s a fair trade)
-
I agree - picking a fight seems a bit ridiculous, hence my attempts at having a logical debate on the trade, as you claimed you enjoy doing in the start.

I deleted it because picking a fight about something as unimportant as fantasy baseball (this is supposed to be fun, remember?) is childish. Veto, approve, I don't care. To me, veto-ing has a purpose in redrafts, not dynasty. We all view our rosters and players with different positives, negatives, potential, and value. We're all adults and should be free to run our teams however we see fit. You wouldn't want someone telling you how to run your team, so don't tell someone else how to run theirs.
-
Lindor never went hit 20 HR’s before he eventually did, either. That’s no argument. Point is - he has proven potential to be that player. It’s a lopsided trade, through and through - none of the assets he got back is worth GIVING you Andrus for free. I respect your view on that trade but I respectfully disagree.
-
Why’d you delete that message, Yu? Everyone got the notification with its content anyways.
Andrus had more runs, more SB and a better average, and was darn close in RBI. He is young with big upside. And just because he’s done it once, positive regression regularly happens for players in his age range. 20-20 is well within his range. Even 10-20 is highly valuable in roto.
-
Adding Andrus to the equation makes it lopsided. If it was just Story and the players for Stanton, I'd have a harder time arguing. But adding the top ranked roto SS from last year (who is a 20-20 candidate EVERY year and gets good category coverage when healthy) makes this incredibly unbalanced.
-
When teams make deadline deals, they trade for the future, admittedly. Guys with significant long term upside are included - not guys like Peralta (barely even a closer on a last place team) and Gonzalez, who is a #2-3 SP at best long term and has been destroyed in his last two outings. For a superstar like Stanton, a team would give up numerous top prospects - think Chapman for Gleyber Torres, etc. and that was for a superstar CLOSER as a half season RENTAL.
-
(2 of 2) When AC present this idea to me, I viewed it as a move for the future for him. He's been high on Story (and Gonzalez) for a month plus, consistently checking in to try and swing a deal. With six weeks left, odds are low he will make up the points differential to win the league. If you're that high on somebody (in this case, a top 5 option at a thin position) who can be held for a few years because of cheap price tag and you've got the guts to go for it, be bold; you don't win otherwise.
-
(1 of 2) I've been waiting all year for a deal like this because I love the debate that always comes with it; so here's my view. This is a dynasty league; the whole idea is to be able to run it as if it's actually a team, meaning at any point the present can be weighed against the future, and deals made accordingly. With the cap, there's no way I keep Stanton for next year without blowing up my roster. This is an entirely short term play for me, no different than contenders at the deadline.
-
I’m with Big Blue. Stanton for Story isn’t equal, on it’s own. Andrus is a very functional SS (top ranked in Yahoo roto last year and injured this year, limiting face value) and you’re getting Stanton’s entire contract covered, to boot. Very lopsided in my mind.
-
Fair enough. However, in my mind this was a Stanton for Story trade. Both are producing at about the same level, depending on how you measure their contributions ($ value earned, WAR, whatever). Since I was getting Story, I did not need a shortstop and YTC did, so I threw in my shortstop and he threw in two marginally valuable pitchers.

I just feel Stanton would be worth more than a decent pitcher and a shaky closer. If the Story for Andrus is considered a 1 for 1 SS move

What are your concerns, Big Blue Bird?

I don't know about you guys but this trade seems very one sided...

If you need saves let’s chat... looking for quality bat/SPs that win games.
