Okay, I will be Crockett. That is a Miami Vice reference, no?
-
I kind of want to be Tubbs.
-
Am I Tubbs? No vetoed trade, just one person votes to veto every trade. Not a big deal, just a little curious.
-
Look here Tubbs did a trade get vetoed? I saw some conversations about a veto but in all the leagues I am in i dont remember a trade get vetoed. I am generally concerned with my own team and how it stacks up to the rest of the league and just glance at trades. I don't know if I missed one getting shot down. Tho. Crockett and Tubbs let me know your findings. I will take a C.V.S.A. right now baby.......

I think the vetoes started about the time Zod and Golfer joined . . .

I just got here. Veto detective.

Lol. No. I just noticed that every trade in this league for the last 8 months has a veto vote. It's weird. AND I WILL FIND THE VETO VILLAIN.

Seems Zod gave u a little to much credit that u were going to get it turned around. I guess u have the Phila. process going on.

If you only beat me by 400 points you have finished 11th.
-
I don't call out owners because why I might not like a trade, who am I to tell a guy what is best for his team unless I think its a player dump then u won't need a veto. I am new here but I am a rules guy and a very active owner and if I think u are cheating I am coming right at u. Dont need a stinkin veto. Doug I am only going to beat u by 400 points this year because of you post.

Don't try to Jedi me it's definitely is not. I trust the two teams have the integrity to make fair trades. I focus on my team and if I see what I think is an unfair trade I won't hide behind a veto. Not like that!

Zod is the trade veto guy. It's definitely Zod.

Little typo should be your fantasy carcass. The trailer should cover the impact of the message. Weak fantasy players should hide a great fantasy general is coming........

Thanks for the update, Balboni. Mr. Commissioner, please raise the salaries of Pham and Correa, accordingly.

1919 Ninja BlackSox's trade block has been updated!
-
MM, Why not have two commissioners listed for the league. One serves as the primary and handles most of decision making the other is used as a back-up and a guy to discuss situations with before bring a vote to the body if necessary. We just had an issue in which two teams didn't get the cuts in before Jan 31 and it caused a controversy in an ottoneu league I am in. Anyone who quotes Stalin seems damaged enough for my vote. One last thing dont lose that trophy cause I am taking it.

The Musial Suspects's trade block has been updated!

I'd vote for Mon to become permanent Commissioner.
-
The 24 hour veto setting change passes. I will change the setting.
-
We are set for a Sunday, Feb. 10 draft date. We will begin at 8pm eastern. The auction room is in working order now so take a look. I understand you can now import your Otto watchlist to the draft watch list. That might make things go smoother.
-
So let's vote to make Monster commish. I vote in favor of taking such action.
-
The only scenario I can come up with is this - Monster is beating me by 10 pts on Aug. 8. He loses his starting OF Mike Trout. He trades Josh Donaldson at $40 for Christian Yelich at $33. In the time it takes to get a veto together, Yelich has a monster week and now Monster is 80 points ahead of me. . .
It is harder in Otto. But we can't take the veto button off and it really is hurting NO ONE, so this is all just kinda theoretical anyway.
-
One other thing, I am the acting commissioner only because the last commissioner had the foresight to give me commissioner power before losing interest in his team. We need to elect a permanent commissioner now that we have the membership set. I am happy to continue if that is what you all choose, but we should have a vote of some sort. As a political science professor, anything else would feel wrong.

"The dictator is caring, friendly, and magnanimous. Just don't piss him off."--Josef Stalin
-
Thanks for the thoughtful reply, Balboni. So, you're saying that we should all feel compelled to veto obvious "dump" trades? For what it's worth, I agree, but I have never heard of that being done in Ottoneu. It feels good to believe that the veto rule somehow gives the proletariat power, but my experience is that rarely does half of the league vote at all, let alone exercise its collective power to block a trade. I say nix it altogether and submit to our friendly dictator. Viva la Mon
-
I think the veto is there for a quick way for all teams to stop an unbalanced trade from going through, especially at the deadline. I can think of when it could have been useful. June was a good friend of mine and what if he would have made some uneven trades before leaving? The veto allows the league to block the trade instead of relying on the commish to have to do it and/or organize a vote. In a way, the veto buttons keeps Monster from becoming a dictator; it keeps it a democracy.
-
Yeah, all my trades got a veto vote.
-
My theory on the vetoed was June from last year. He still had control of his team until just a week or two ago. Are trades still being vetoed?
-
Why does Ottoneu even mandate a veto vote? Nobody ever uses it (with enough participation to overrule a trade) that I am aware of. Seriously, can anyone describe what types of trades should be vetoed? Is there any objective basis for using a veto or are we simply supposed to do it based on feelings? Should we be encouraged to veto all trades of owners we don't like? Teams who are ahead of us in the standings?? Owners with too-long hair??? I really don't understand the intention of the mechanism.

Fine with a 24hr trade window, and I can do either 2/8 or 2/10 for a draft day.
-
I'm with you Lumber. Unless there is a more serious claim against owners undermining the league, there's no reason for a veto. And if we are vetoing a trade based on that we are also voting to kick people out. But, I don't think Niv gives us an option for a veto-free process yet.
I'm still curious who our one veto happy person is.
-
I'm available on the 10th and I also vote in favor of 24-hour window.
-
I vote to eliminate the veto system altogether. What are the grounds for vetoing a trade, anyhow? Because you don't like it? Because it helps your opponent??? Can anyone cite the last time a trade was vetoed in Ottoneu? The only thing I can think of that could be considered worthy of veto is apparent collusion, which is obviously a far more egregious act than deserving a simple veto. Anyone who could provide insight on what is a vetoable trade (if there is such a thing) would be much appreciated
