I agree with the Commish. The only true solution is to "Make Ottoneu Work Again."
-
Comhs and hank, I think I was just being hypersensitive because I myself find my claim to be implausible.
-
And for any of our newer members, I will echo your statement that you've been in the league for multiple years now with no issues and nothing but a positive experience (giving more weight to the fact that I don't doubt your honesty about the claim).
-
Ghastly - I'm sorry if I implied that you weren't being honest about the claim. That was absolutely not my intention or belief. My "let the system do its work" statement was more that I think we are all equally likely to be on the wrong end of something like this. I'm glad that you e-mailed Ottoneu, because I think that the only true solution is to have the system work properly.
-
I do not think you're lying. I just wanted to point out a problem.

But it is the Internet and sometimes we don't necessarily convey our meaning. Comhs, you've never given me any reason to think you are anything but a decent person so consider it a dead issue on my end (aside from my request for consideration to messages for waiver claims)

Also, I would point out that I've been an issue-free owner for 3 years now. I have no reason to start lying for a $5 closer on a 7th place team. I'm telling you that mere minutes before the claim was processed I verified that I was claiming him (I removed a Cody Allen claim and specifically checked that k-rod was still being claimed). As such I didn't love the "let the system do its work" language used when in fact the system has failed to "do its work" for me.

No overriding is definitely the best policy and the one I would support.
The only exception I would ask is if I inform you directly in advance of the claim and it still doesn't process (given that this is a known issue for me now).
A $5 K-rod isn't a big loss for me but a $30 Trout (for example) would be a different story and I don't want to be handicapped relative to the rest of the league.
I've already emailed ottoneu about this.

That said, in hindsight, I think it's probably best not to override ever (even in the case of another Espinosa situation). I'm open to all thoughts and suggestions on the best way to handle though. Obviously I want to be fair to everyone. So please, if you have input, let's hear it.
-
In my opinion, Espinosa was a different situation because nobody else claimed him either. So he was just sitting there as a $1 free agent. In this particular case, I'd have to take a player away from one team and add it to another.
-
Just getting in and seeing the discussion. Ghastly, I understand your frustration. My preference would be to let the system do it's work and not to get in the habit of overriding it (I'll address why I did that for Espinosa shortly). I don't think we have anyone in our league that would abuse things if I did override, but it's a cleaner and easier policy not to do it. That way, I don't have to try to judge who should get what player...
-
I see your point but assure you that I wouldn't be doing that from 7 place. The only reason I'm so certain it didn't process as I have ran into this before. In the future I will just e-mail the commissioner when I'm submitting critical claims just so I have proof.
For this particular incident there's no need to send k-rod. He's not a gamechanger for me and probably not a keeper.

The problem is that you can use it as a strategy if you see someone get a player that you might not want them to have, such as Cody Allen. And you can take K-Rod, it's no problem for me.

Hence my question. Note that I was sitting waiting to drop a corresponding player after processing which was why I responded so quickly. Obviously I understand your "tough rocks" perspective (you got the player). If everyone else feels that way then so be it. I'm just sating that I wanted to claim him and definitely clicked the button.

I have no idea! But I have to cut a player to make my lineup for the evening.

Is there a reason why my k-rod waiver claim wouldn be processed?

Points leaders my entire team is open to trade. If you have interest in any of my players send an offer. Obviously I value quite a few of these guys but I need to reboot for next year. I've had a difficult season with work commitments but I am going to refocus and play hard next season. Thanks - Robert

Arsenal 's trade block has been updated!

Welcome to the league Arsenal! We've got a good group here - hope you enjoy!
-
Hi guys,
Just took over what was formerly Pitching Rich. Ottoneu vet. Happy to talk trades with anyone- I seem to have inherited plenty of pieces that might be useful to the teams above me.
-
Very happy to have Espinoza claimed... obviously. Too bad about PR, that's a decent roster though that could turn around relatively quickly.
-
There is no problem with that Alpha add Espinoza.

Also, unfortunately Pitching Rich is not going to be able to finish out the season. I'm marking the team as abandoned, just FYI.
-
Guys - couple of quick things here. First, Alpha Kenny Won just let me know that he put in a waiver claim for Danny Espinosa that didn't go through. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but given that nobody claimed him and he's still sitting out there as a FA, I plan on adding him to Alpha's roster. Please let me know ASAP if you don't agree with this.

Could be worse. You could have sat Turner because he was facing Strasburg. I've done the equivalent many times.
-
And as a total side note, is there a bigger letdown than when one of your batters hits a HR off one of your pitchers? "Yes, Justin Turner has two HRs today!!" [scrolls down] "NO! They were both off Strasburg!" End of Rant.
-
So apparently my trade for Kershaw could have been timed a little better!

What can you say about Bryant? "Bryant had a day to remember on Monday, going 5-for-5 with three home runs, six RBI, four runs scored and a pair of doubles in the Cubs' win against the Reds." 57p, it will never happen again, even if I play this in rest of my life.
