Long overdue but I would like to release Brady Aiken from my 5milb roster
-
In the interest of making sure everyone has an opportunity to make offers DeGrom is available
-
Best of luck!
-
Good luck. Make Bat FIPS proud!
-
Good luck!

Hi folks, in case you weren't aware (and were probably very confused by my desparation for 60-IL players), Ottoneu has a side, best-ball format overlayed on the home league this year, Ottoneu Prestige League (OPL). I made the playoff, which should prove to be interesting. You can follow along here, if interested:

I added Heliot Ramos to Pham's roster in line with the most recent trade. Happy All Star Break Everyone!
-
I'd like to release Heston Kjerstad from my 5milb roster.
-
Matt Manning got the call-up last night, so he's been placed on Unskilled Laborers roster.
-
I'm willing to discuss trades with those who are either trying to compete this season, or other rebuilding teams if there's something that makes sense for both of us.
I'm rebuilding but I think I have some good value prospects to swap and a few more bigger names to move.
-
I'd like to call up Jordan Groshans from my milb roster
-
On another note, Adam/owner of Mediocre or Bust has unfortunately had to bail due to time constraints. We've found a new owner for his team -- snprime -- who'll be taking the reins today. Welcome!
-
Which is irrelevant because Luzardo is going to have a Cy Young 2022 season.
-
I feel like this is a similar situation to last year when I shipped away Bryant, lindor, judge and JD. Everyone freaked out saying I didn’t get enough (which is true since Soler is shit this year lol) but all 4 of the guys I gave up I saw as cuts at the end of the year so I tried to get pieces back to help me for this year.
-
I don't think there are any rules that can or should be put in place. Market value per league is different and everyone values players differently. I would just urge owners when trading a 1st round talent/premier player in the league, that unless you really get blown away with an offer, its in everyones best interest to make it know that the player is available and give a day or two to see what offers come in.
-
Kinda like Wily said in definitely not trying to have Trade Court or shame anyone. Just caught my eye and wanted to see everyone’s thoughts. I’m not sure where to go from here, I’ll leave that up to our commissioners, but I hope this league stays competitive and active! That’s my only wish! Well that and maybe that my Rangers draft Kumar Rocker LOL
-
I do think Sad’s point about Luzardo is valid. There is a lot of talent on the scrap heap, especially if you’re willing to roster a DL guy (for example, I picked up Gonsolin a few weeks ago). You can turn on email notifications for auctions starting, which I find helpful so I don’t miss anyone
-
Certainly open to hearing others' thoughts on how we can improve in this area...
-
Re: the general issue of competitive balance, Wily is right to raise this. I do think upward mobility is still very possible in the league -- I finished 10th in the league last year -- but it is good to think about how we can (a) avoid having a hierarchy of teams become entrenched in the league, and (b) maintain competitiveness for most of the season. Stuff like the 5MiLB draft is meant to limit issues like (a). Fixing (b) is tough, partly because some teams get unlucky with injuries early on.
-
First a quick comment on this trade. From my perspective, this is taking on a lot of salary to make a run this year. After arb, I expect Acuna to cost well above $60, which creates cap challenges for any team. Honestly I don't see an issue with Luzardo having been just picked up. He's rostered in 98% of leagues at an avg. price of $10 (so tbh disagree with the idea that he's worth the last guy on ppls' roster) + the fact that he cost $11 made him unavailable to a number of teams in the league.
-
Personally I don’t see a problem with this trade. It seems like laborers felt he wasn’t going to keep acuna next year at close to $60 and got what he deemed a keeper SP and OF to build around.
He may have not wanted to cut someone to bid on Luzardo so got a solid cheap OF and his guy for acuna
-
I basically agree with everything Wily said. I like to see guys shopped around (or at least put on their trade block) for some time before a trade like this one materializes. And I worry a bit about competitive balance. I appreciate that the folks involved are willing to have the convo!
-
To me, that's a bummer- I want as many teams as possible to be competitive, every year, for as long as possible. Huge loan, huge value swing trades in April/May aren't that.
Hope this helps, and hope we can continue the conversation and hear from all folks who have thoughts.
-
That adds up to significant 2021 value and future value moving 1 way in this trade. That's not the end of the world, but I do worry a bit about competitive balance in this league. I like this league a lot, and have built a strong team, in part from trades like the Acuña one. I worry unless there's a tweak to how players get traded, the same teams are going to keep trading for studs in-season, swapping them back in the offseason for cheaper players, with huge swing-y trades deciding things
-
2 thoughts for me on latest trade: 1 is Luzardo being just picked up. To me, considering how that bid went down (which, sheepishly, I think I missed processing his auction was even up?), Luzardo was worth the last guy on all our rosters last week (or close, given cap constraints).
2nd is Acuña. At $56, I don't see him as a rental: he's playing like a top 5 player, got arb last year, and has never been up for re-auction since the league began. He's got 2022 value or at least should/
-
Thanks for initiating a convo on this trade, Pham. I want to say first I dislike vetoing trades; for me, I've never come across a trade I think I should veto. 2 ppl agreed to it, and it's a game of market econ :)
I also don't want it to feel like court for the ppl involved in a trade, but I think it's really important for leagues to discuss trades from time to time. I want us all to have guidelines for what is acceptable and not, and the best ways to do that are convos (and rules, i
-
I don’t like to question trades either. Everyone values guys differently but the returns for two of the premier players in the league in these last two trades seemed light. Have to believe that if they were shopped around more than a minute a better return could have been had for both especially when one key piece was on waivers a few hours before and not even bid on by the team that traded for him.
-
Perhaps my sense of value is in question. I'm basically tanking, trying to prepare for next season by lowering my salaries, getting young Promising talent, and especially focusing on rotation, considering all of my injuries.
I didn't even realize he was on waivers following his injury to be honest :/ ive been slightly checked out following all of my injuries, but this trade seemed reasonable to me, given the demands of both parties (rental for hats, tanking for me). Maybe I'm crazy
-
I just put in a bid for Luzardo above minimum and then reached out about a trade. Can’t speak to why others didn’t bid (was in fact expecting some other teams to be in on him, hence the bid above the minimum).
-
Hey all, I hate to be “this guy”, but could Unskilled and Sad talk through the thought process of this trade? Honestly I wouldn’t be saying anything but the fact that Luzardo was in waivers, cleared waivers, then was nominated and picked up at minimum bid and then traded for a top 5 bat feels fishy to me. I’m not trying to create drama/trouble, that just caught my eye b/c I was considering bidding on Luzardo.
-
Triston Casas should be on my milb5 roster
-
Hoskins available for a OF
-
Betts for sale
-
How did the fans feel about Gilbert?
-
I went to Kelenic's debut last night! He went 0 for 4 though
-
Done, Baseballs R Hard. Also, added Jarred Kelenic to Mediocre or Bust's roster (Happy belated Kelenic day if there are M's fans out there!)
-
I'd like to call up DL Hall from my milb roster
-
Hi all, if anyone is looking for a second Ottoneu league, I am commish of a H2H league, and we just had someone abandon a team. The team is all paid up, so no risk. DM me if interested!
-
Heston Kjerstad should be on my milb5 roster
-
I'd like to call up Mackenzie Gore from my milb roster
-
Would love to turn a pitcher into a bat, and pretty much all my starting pitching is available. Message or send offers if interested.
-
And happy belated opening day, everyone! Hope folks caught some baseball yesterday, and good luck this year.
-
Since Jonathan India made his debut yesterday, he's been added to the Shifters roster.
-
Mediocre or Bust's time has elapsed. I'll take Kevin Alcantara (NYY) to wrap things up. Transactions with 5MiLB players can now begin again.
-
He's available. Mediocre or Bust is back up.
-
Is Shea Langeliers still available from ATL? If so, I'll take him.
-
I’ll take Connor Phillips (SEA) with my final pick... pick moves to Unskilled
-
Believe I timed out on the first of my two remaining/consecutive picks, but I'll take Tyler Freeman (CLE) with the second one. We'll swing back around now to make up the missed picks. Bobby Ayala can have 24 hours from now to make his last pick, then Unskilled, Mediocre, and me.
-
Pick moves to Sad Bat True!
-
Mediocre or Bust, you are up!
