I dropped Wong by accident

The vagueness of the rules and league-to-league variance was news to us. Clearly this issue is more nuanced than we initially felt. We apologize for posting in agitation rather than reconciliation. Appreciate this league's commitment and look forward to more great seasons to come!
-
I just wanted to say that I appreciate this league and all the owners. I enjoy playing with everyone. I also appreciate this conversation. I agree that there is some gray area within the rules. I hope my sharing of my opinions as part of the debate were mostly constructive and not overly harsh. Cheers.
-
Sorry character limit makes it hard to make edits well. They = D. Green. We should give a little more benefit of the doubt. However of course we encouraged people to bring up concerns. Lets just try not to get too agitated while doing it. As someone mentioned, we play this game based on someone else playing a game for fun.

I appreciate the conversation but let's be clear that the rules are vague. While I think the majority are in agreement that based on how this league has operated, there was a line that was crossed. However that line is kind of arbitrary given its not written down or explicitly discussed. I don't think we should act as if they were cheating. They also did respond in a timely fashion to make the necessary corrections once notified of the concern. There is a lot of variability league to league.

Yes, let me touch base with Rebels to see how best to clarify some of the vagueness. It may not be immediate but we will round back.

So can we vote on what we think the policy should be going forward? I’d suggest 48 hours to make cuts. All cuts need to be made to bring an owner into cap compliance before any players who are cut to clear room clear waivers. Failure to abide by the above results in revoking the moves and awarding the auctioned/waivered player to the next highest bid or eligible waiver claim.
-
Thank you for making the appropriate cuts to get under the salary cap.
-
While the Ottoneu rules are a bit vague and allow for some level of interpretation, owners need to be responsible for getting under the salary cap for transactions they make without any assumed transactions from others. So while D'Squarius may be right that other owners will claim or re-auction the players he cut, there's no way to know for sure (and how long is appropriate to wait for players to be re-auctioned? An hour? A day? A week?).
-
As we said, the commissioners made their ruling. Thank you for playing by the same rules as the rest of us.
-
I clearly ruffled feathers when that was not the intent. I have cut my guys unless I "need to cut more people" in order to get under my $76 "illegal bid". Feel free to have the vote on that Notorious thinks should happen.
-
During our four years in the league, no owner has relied on a post-auction waiver claim to recoup all of their money, while remaining illegal in the meantime. The commissioners have already made a ruling on the matter. If there's a vote to be had it should regard the validity of the $76 bid made with the explicit intent of breaking the precedent that's been followed across all other bids made in this league.
-
I think it's fair to have a vote here and come to a consensus. Again, it isn't like I can't get to the needed cap space.
-
Will add I didn’t make a bid on Trout because I didn’t think I could fulfill the cuts without jeopardizing any chance at 1st or 2nd. If knew I could get him and wait it out a little, that might have changed things since Ott rules don’t even say you can’t earn points (based on what I saw) while over the cap (just can’t make moves).
-
Will say I think a couple days to get the team in order is okay. Not sure about waiting for players to be claimed to free up space. Actually don’t think Freeman will be straight up claimed which means 3 days from now til his $ is off the books (maybe). 2 days + 3 days??? Will say I presumed a claim would require clearing the space immediately thereafter. Definitely think we need to make this clear because Ott rules are oddly vague here.
-
Pandaman, I would argue that I'm still being restricted by the cap plus it isn't like I didn't cut anyone of value. Maybe I'm wrong but highly doubt that Realmuto and Freeman both aren't auctioned as soon as they possibly can. Therefore, I did give up value and I am still beholded to the cap.
It isn't like I auctioned him, waited until the end of the year and purposely went over the cap for good. Again, sorry for the delay but real life takes precedent sometimes.
-
also to be clear, I was the first one to bring it to the league's attention, since I was quite surprised by that bid and the team who was awarded the bid

Also I don't think he said "f the bid". It was cut off from the prior post. It was an extension of the sentence "of the bid". The character limit changed the sentence structure.

If your other leagues break the rules, cool. That hasn’t been done in our 4 years in this league and negligence of the rules is not a defense of intending to break the rules. We didn’t mean to say “f the $76 bid” that was merely a character limit error.
-
I agree the stock Ottoneu rules have a little wiggle room for interpretation which leads to league to league variability. In this league, this is the first type of situation like this, where an owner purposefully went over the salary cap with no clear plan in place to cut and did not rectify within 24 hours. I think that is the reason for the response. What's the point of the cap then and of having salary cap space? This may be an opportunity to clarify our league's approach to this situation.

I believe that cutting guys and waiting for them to reauction in order to get under cap is not in line with the spirit or rules of the game.
-
I think the rules are little vague and I think it is interesting that my integrity is being attacked by the second place bidder.
I will do whatever the league desires as this is a game I do for fun. And as far as the comment by Notorious on f the $76 bid. I can bid anything I want. It isn't like it isnt' possible for me to get to that amount of $.
-
First of all, it's been what two days guys in a league in which I would bet the vast majority of people are not checking daily or setting their lineup as they haven't been in contention in forever.
Two, I've been in plenty of ottoneu leagues in which people made cuts knowing people would auction a player that would put them in compliance with the cap. If that is considered "cheating" by this group, so be it. I can get under the required cap.
-
Yes, sorry everyone for a little slow of a reply, we were trying to balance giving enough time and not jumping to conclusions (things to do happen in people's lives) vs upholding the rules/expectations of the league.

D'Squarius has until 12pm ET on Tuesday (9/21) to bring his roster into full compliance or we will reverse the Trout transaction.
-
Sorry for all the message posting guys, we feel strongly the integrity of the league is being blatantly disrespected.
-
Where are the rest of those cuts, D'squarius? Waiting for Freeman and/or Realmuto to get claimed is still willingly leaving your roster in an illegal state.
-
Gentlemen Rebels and I are talking about this. We will have an update shortly.

I respectfully disagree. If you have enough time to make a bid, you need to find time to keep your team legal in a timely fashion, especially if you are $68 in the red.
-
Folks need to calm down. Claim was won at 11:05pm Sat. Reasonable to not have time Sun to make cuts. If Tues and no cuts, then ok make demands. People are busy.
That said look forward to how these cuts work without Freeman, Ramirez, or Seager being cut.
-
Yeah, those cuts need to be made ASAP.
-
f the $76 bid.
-
"c. At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner."
We're aware of the optics of the fact that we have the 2nd highest bid, but it's sketchy that D'Squarius checked his team this morning and has yet to make the necessary cuts. If he's unwilling to make the needed cuts to get his roster legal, the commissioner(s) should reconsider the validity o
-
What were you going to do if you got him for $76? Cut your entire team?
-
Damn, didn't think there would be that much competition for Trout given the salary cap space I saw. How you gonna $68 in salary haha?

Hello all. You contenders could use a SP like Wade Miley or Alex Wood. Let me know who is interested.

Let me know if you're willing to deal a hitter over 5.5ppg in return for a young player - preference for 2B and/or OF eligibility. Also looking for a solid SP. Willing to deal for both in 1 trade or work separately.
-
Looking to move yelich or Lindor for your pitching and/or hitting. Will you take on some salary as well. Let me know
-
Anyone interested in Trout please send me your best offers. I am likely to make a decision in the next couple of days. Thanks
-
Sure was. Spankys Crew is unloading and like the Giants (my team and probably why I just picked up two of them) I am in that psuedo "rebuilding". Getting players for next year while my 7 day average indicates i can compete this year:) Lindor, Yelich, and Turner are available for the right price.
-
And wow blockbuster deal with Harps and Dream!

Just added a ton of players to the block. Spankys is giving up on this year with eyes towards next year. Give me a heads up. @notorious - Brian Anderson is all yours;)
-
I added Lindor to trade block. Going to listen for offers. Although he is struggling that won't change my mind on what I want in return. Solid/young players. SP always a plus. Hit me up
-
The number of players up for bid right now has to be a one-time record for this league - awesome!
-
I am getting interest in Betts obviosuly (He is a stud) and although I might be hesitant to trade him i'd be a bad GM if I didn't listen to offers. Send me what you are thinking/notes and let's see what happens.
-
Looking for hitters. Willing to discuss/trade pitchers. let me know
-
Trade was cancelled because it was accidentally accepted. Both teams in agreement to cancel. Just wanted to clarify for transparency.
