Woah, I thought arbitration ended on Nov. 15th! Doesn't look like it's available anymore.

Loaded Lefty's trade block has been updated!

Also, a reminder that arbitration ends on Wednesday this week, so please finalize your arbitration entries and for the 3 teams who haven't submitted anything yet - Amateurs, Nihilism, and Gondolas - please complete your bids before the deadline.

I've been messaging with Niv (creator of Ottoneu) and he's told me that he's adding the ability to use SP caps in the playoffs (e.g. max of 5 starts, instead of innings cap or 2 SP/day, which is how H2H has been historically in Ottoneu), but it's not added yet, so we'll need to refine the specific rules as the season approaches, but wanted to let you know the plan now, as early as possible.
-
Hey everyone, after some good discussion among the league (thanks to those of you who've DMd with me on the topic, too), we're going to implement H2H for the playoffs next season. We will use the format where 4 teams make the playoffs and both rounds of the playoffs will last 2 weeks, so the playoffs will take up most of September.

After doing arbitration it is apparent that there are going to be some major changes in team rosters. Next year gonna be exciting.

Now we have a Situational Lefties and a Loaded Lefty... rivalry?!? Who's better?

Hey everyone! My name is Austin and I am from Peru, Indiana. I recently graduated college from Ball State University, and now work there in the athletics ticket office. I am still learning this league site and format, but I am really excited to get started and compete with you all. I love to make trades and spice things up, so don't hesitate to reach out with anything. Thank you all for letting me join this league, and good luck!
Also, I am a die-hard Cubs Fan...
-
Hey everyone, please welcome Austin, the new owner of the Urban Achievers (to be renamed). Austin plays in my home league and is never shy to make a deal and change things up - I think he'll be a great addition to the league! Austin, feel free to introduce yourself to the league - where you're from, favorite team, etc...
-
I’d be fine with h2h but also like the status quo. Guess I’d fear a situation where an owner or two check out though I don’t think we’ve had that problem.
-
Reminder to everyone that arbitration is now open until November 14th

The following playoff option addresses your concern and is a direct quote from the ottoneu community site, Bayou Bomb Squad: "No Wild-Card, Regular Semifinal: The semifinals will occur over the first playoff week and the finals will occur on the 2nd and 3rd playoff weeks. This is the only way to avoid the final week of the season."
-
Sure, in a vacuum I prefer H2H. However, I think it presents problems in a playoff format as it generally coincides with September when it is less likely full rosters will be at full throttle. If there were an option to conclude the playoffs by 8/30, I would be in. In the absence of that, I think roto remains the way to go. A decision either way will not affect my commitment to the league though!

Would love to hear thoughts from owners who haven't weighed in yet - Nihilism, Pooch, Bayou, 1.21, Gondolas - what do any of you think about the ideas being thrown around?
-
Total points throughout the season with H2H playoffs would definitely more "realistic" and therefore gets my vote. I'll be back next season regardless. Thanks to all for a great season!
-
To clarify, this is in favor of a total points regular season, then top-4 in total points have a h2h semis and finals to decide the winner. NOT a h2h regular season.
-
If the goal is to be as accurate to the MLB as possible, top 4 teams make the playoffs and then 2-week h2h matchups in the final month decide the winner is the most accurate combination of skill and luck. Total points alone forces more than half the league into rebuild/sell mode by the all-star break. With this new setting there’s year-long competition for the top-4 spots. And if you finish top-4 and come on top in h2h you honestly deserve to be the winner, that’s not luck.
-
H2h playoffs is too much luck based. That’s my problem with h2h baseball in general. You play over 5 months and it comes down to who happens to be better the last week or 2 in September.
-
I would be open to a H2H playoff if that's possible.
-
FYI for all that Urban Achievers has let me know he won't be returning next season. Anybody out there know of someone who would be a great fit to step in to take his place?
-
I think the H2H playoffs is an interesting idea - what do other owners think?
-
What if we did H2H playoffs, in order to add variance at the end of the season, plus incentive the middle tier of teams?
-
I would be out if we switch to h2h, otherwise I will be back for next season.
-
I’m open to H2H if others are interested, I’ll be back

Thanks to everyone for a great season, and congrats to the Amateurs for pulling off the victory!
If anyone in the league is not planning to return next year, please let us know ASAP so we can work on finding a replacement owner (preferably sooner rather than later). Note the price changes and other information linked at the top of the league page. Also, I'm open to exploring a format change if owners are interested in it (e.g. H2H), but not going to push it, either.
-
Thanks for a great season! Thag was an exciting finish. Looking forward to the offseason.

Looks like you're right, 1.21 - make sure you get your players from the 4 teams playing tomorrow into lineups if you want to score points for them. Good luck everybody!

Pretty sure the games tomorrow count y’all.

Great season, everyone!

Crazy close. I wonder how it stacks up again other leagues--the spread between 1st and 3rd place finishers... Congratulations, Fn Amateurs! That was about as perfect a weekend as you could've scripted: Votto/Donaldson/Stanton/Soto/Rizzo/Bogaerts all dropping 20+ point games. Folty/Paxton/Mikolas/Nola all tossing 44+ point starts. Unreal.
