Quick reminder: Arbitration ends Nov. 14th! Only a few folks left.
-
Sorry for the delay, but the timing is apt. The Japanese Sumo Association just released the November banzuke today, and parallel to that is the release of our eague's 2025 banzuke. Hope you guys are enjoying the off-season. Looking forward already to next year!

Congrats again to OTTO-WAN! Our sixth champion in eight years. Thanks to everyone for keeping the league afloat and competitive; arbitration starts a week from Tuesday.

Congrats, otto. I am looking forward to next season.

As for Highland, I really gotta tip my cap! You had my sweating bullets these last few days! I was so impressed that you continually were hot on my trail! Man, I was so fortunate Ohtani didn't get another one of those 60 pt days in Colorado!
If he had I might have been the one congratulating you! Well played Sir!
I guess you just gotta let Ohtani cook! π

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Hard work really does pay off! It was a pleasure competing with all you Generals! The league is so competitive and every move, add, cut or transaction seems to always be under the microscope! We got a great crew and that's what makes this league so enjoyable to partake in. Excited to continue to compete with you all next year and to see what 2025 brings!
-
I gotta say, I didn't think the strategy would work, and I didn't think you would win. Dead wrong. Congrats, Otto-Wan! Your team is looking pretty sweet for another run or two, at least!
Updated banzuke coming shortly!

When you joined the league a few years back with all those minor league pickups (and drops) I wondered if you'd hang on to the right people to make it to the top. Congrats!! You've got some pretty nice prices to look toward making this an extended run. Take that "Neubi" off your team name now, Otto-wan KeChamp!
-
Congrats to the new champion! Heck of a rebuild that ends up in a flag. I guess it was some stressful last days. Fun stuff! I'm excited to see the banzuke from schrute now!
-
Congrats. Thanks to Colonic for running the show again.

Congrats, Otto!

(And also a reminder to get your auctions up 48 hr before the end of the season! Which I believe is the 30th now, due to the fateful Mets/Braves double-header..)
-
Quite a race at the top, and perhaps a new champion!! One announcement: I love the glut of last-minute auctions, but plz do not willingly exceed the roster limits (see Rule I.c.). While auction bids will be processed even if your team reaches an invalid state - and people can carry a mildly invalid roster in the off-season (bc you lose the IL spots) - no one wants to see a 57-man roster full of last-second invalid pickups.

Wait...we're still playing?

Interesting read. Thanks. Confirms that I'm bad in English and Japanese.

I had noted on the resource page a podcast for my home league in which we outline this system. My brother and I recorded an updated version of that and released it today. So if you prefer listening to how this works rather than reading, that may be more up your alley. Or it can work as a companion to the slideshow. Itβs called Web Gems Fantasy Podcast and is available on Apple or iTunes. The episode is called βHow to Create a Fantasy Baseball Banzuke.β Totally amateur but informative.
-
Very cool, Schrute! Thanks for putting this together. I love anything that helps teams stay engaged through the marathon season. I also like that this doesn't require anything additional other from teams. It's really just a way to rank the standings season over season but more importantly make every position meaningful.
-
I'm excited to hear the positive responses! It was a lot to make sense of, and I know that there remains some confusing aspects, but I expect that with more exposure, clarity and familiarity will set in just fine. Appreciate those of you who took some time to go through it!
-
I'm the new guy, but I'm definitely for something that makes there be a reason to keep grinding despite miffing on all my draftees this year. I am worried that I will have a hard time remembering what the different Japanese words mean, but I have started playing Personal 5 Royale on my kid's Switch lately. Maybe that will work like a Holiday inn Express? I do like the idea of a longer-term ranking system, though, that complements and extends the in-season rankings.
-
I am in awe you put this together for our league, Schrute. I admit I donβt fully understand it, but am totally on board and excited to see how this progresses. Thanks for sharing and especially for those resources at the end
-
Well Schrute, I used to be a fan of Sumo when i was younger, so I'm completely on board for this proposal. I was considering continuing selling out, now I want to get better players to be able to secure kachi-koshi.
-
(2 of 2) We just applied this system in my home league, and itβs awesome. The main reason is that it offers something exciting to aim for at every level of the standings, offering intrigue and motivation where there otherwise may not be. I am hoping it does the same for us here. Hereβs the tinyurl link: https://tinyurl.com/ottoneubanzuke
-
(1 of 2) I'm going to take the short break in games here to present a project for our league that I have been working on. In short, it's a ranking system that adds relevance to every spot in the standings, with the hope that all managers are inspired to score as high in the standings each season as possible, even those teams who have fallen out of championship contention. It's in the form of a Google Slideshow and is quite long, so I wouldn't blame you for taking one look and nope'ing right out.

Just need a second opinion on this trade offer... Bryan Bello for Jackson Chourio. Should I do it ? OTTO-WAN KENEUBI constantly sends me these great offers and I'm always torn on whether to give up really solid players for ones that aren't even close in the ratings. Hope I can get some feedback because I must be missing something when it comes to these repetitive horseshit offers that he keeps sending me.
-
Oh, you're right. I had not known Frasso was drafted and cut. Move along, people. Nothing to see here.
-
I think bidding for Frasso started at $2 since Ottowan previously cut him at $3 (incurring a $2 cap penalty)
-
Nick Frasso went for $2 when no one but Otto-Wan bid on him. Should've been a buck. That's two bugs. One more and we got an infestation.
-
I was wondering how that happened! Guess it was a bug.
-
For whatever reason Zac Veen went through as a $0 cap penalty a few days ago - I added and re-cut him so the appropriate $1 cap penalty applies.
-
happy opening day!
-
Thanks Groupon! Baseball is almost back! wooo!
-
Rosters should be uploaded successfully - I got zero errors; 174 new players added!
-
Bumping to 4 nominations at 6 PM EST, and dropping the auction extension time down to 8 hr, accordingly.
-
Alright - waiting on the last two teams before we start tomorrow! And everyone check their rosters. I've only seen one error so far (Zac Veen), which I've corrected.
-
Alright, here's the link to the draft: https://www.couchmanagers.com/auctions/index.php?auction_id=829
The pw is "772draft". Join and claim a spot and I'll upload your team(s) over the course of the week. (Also, I reversed Ottowan's cut bc roster's are supposed to be locked between now and the draft.)
-
Focus group reviews came back on the team name options, finally. But then we ignored all of their advice and went with a cool animal instead. It might be fun to acquire shorter (but deadly) players to fit the theme.

Wooo draft! Couchmanagers is somewhat usable on the phone! And in the past drafts the 1st round nominations would usually take more than 24h to get off the board.
