Welcome new owners! Glad to have you. League is now full and we are set for the season. Any other final thoughts on draft date/time? Thanks everyone!
-
Hey everyone, I just claimed Pigeons, I should be able to make cuts and do some rebranding by this weekend - looking forward to the season with you all!

Ok, I've put March 25th at 5pm EST as the default draft date for now by request. If that doesn't work for you, please speak up. If so, I can set up a poll, but figured starting here is great for now.
-
3/25 @ 5:00pm est works for me

I MIGHT have one owner that can join. Of course my track record the last two seasons of bringing on someone hasn't been great.

Hey everyone, apologies for not being present but I re-claimed my team! The postseason was hectic and I took about 45 days off from no phone or emails. Prepping to leave for Spring Training now, but I am all in!

Just a note: Ichuro mistakenly cut Clay Holmes, immediately sent me a message and asked if it could be reversed, so I re-added him to their roster. Thanks!

Hello Run! Welcome to the league.

Hi All. Just noticed the Manrui team on the claim teams page and picked it up. Cheers.

Sorry folks I think I am going to have to leave the league. I am in the middle of trying to finish a dissertation and also move across the pacific again...I just don't have the time to properly focus on the league. I will abandon my team so that you can find a new owner soon.

Any word on possible draft dates yet?
-
I'm in for next year
-
I am returning. Gotta see the Walker trade thru.
-
Damn. So, 6 of us missed arbitration. Makes some of us wonder what's in store for next year. Is everybody returning, or do we need to start looking for new owners?

Ready to make moves. Need young, cheap and GOOD players. No one untouchable. Trout, Alonso, Riley, Goldschmidt -- all of them can be yours for the right price.
That said, just because I am willing to trade anyone doesn't mean I have to, they'll all be good next season...

$450 is fine
-
Thanks for making the poll Manrui. Yeah, $450 is just where we started. I'd be fine doing $475 or even up to $500. I think a few years ago in one of our other leagues the 2nd place team was at about $650 in cap. All were fair trades, but they just took on every overpriced, non-keepable productive player for prospects and made a run to the money and then abandoned the team. I think it's the extremes that are the most frustrating. Anywhere between $450-500 is good in our book.
-
Glad to see this idea get some traction. I proposed it kind of on a whim but I am all for it.
I have created a Straw Poll here:
https://strawpoll.com/polls/NoZrLQGX3n3
If it has a majority of votes then I think we can move forward with finalizing the final number for the cap? Maybe another poll? I think $450-$475 is good but open to discussion.

I'm also in favor of the cap. I think we settled on $450 because it's a fair amount but dissuades teams from doing the one and done thing. If you end the season with $75+ in extra salary, plus arbitration and the standard salary raise you're looking at cutting $150+ in salary every year. I also think it keeps a competitive balance for the stretch run while still allowing teams to make fair trades.

I joined this league because it has existed for a while and the owners appeared to be active. Therefore I would like to be playing in this league for a long time based on this and fun time during the draft. While I dislike the one and done attribute of some of the prior season owners and am in favor of the individual cap, I was curious as to the rationale of $450. Is $475 too high and lends itself to the problem?
-
I agree with 450 cap
-
After misunderstanding earlier in the discussion on what it would actually be, I’m all for it. It’s not the spirit of Ottoneu to take teams for a year, win at all costs, then dump. Whatever makes this more competitive and keeps people around I’m all for

Open to any discussion. Doesn't need to be $450 either. Just wanted to make sure we circled back if this is going to be an unofficial rule for our league going forward.
-
The context for those that are new: the last few years, we've had someone new join the league, then make a lot of trades where they take on salary to go all-in on a one-year strategy of trying to place ($150+ over the $400 cap w/ loans if I recall). Then they immediately leave the league. I'm not against the strategy in general, but it's pretty problematic when people just leave the team for dead after they do it. We figured capping loans would be best for the health of the league.
-
Hey Everyone, just circling back to the discussion of an individual cap of $450 per team (ie, you can only get an aggregate +50 in loans) since we've had some new owners since then. We are in favor. I know others were too. Just wanted to put it out there again and see if we all agree to the general principle.
-
Sorry gang…I’m a firefighter and had to work tonight, but the calls kept me away from the draft…unfortunately.

I pushed the draft back 30m because I'm not sure we'd be able to make cuts and have it work if draft starts. Phily, please make them asap there.
-
I looked at your cuts today and thought they seemed light.
-
Ok, another set of cuts for Phily is granted.
-
Ok. Well I hope that it works out before draft time
-
I knew the draft date was today, I just didn't know that cuts would be locked, I assumed the draft was for new minor league players. I've never done a salary cap/dynasty league, still figuring out how the whole system works.

I know I am new to the league. So for what's it worth, I agree with Bomb, extra cuts are fine. Although Philly did know the draft date was today. He could have mentioned this a while back.
-
I'm cool giving him an extra set of cuts. He took over the bottom team and only made two cuts since he is new to Ottoneu

Hey all, I'm new to this type of league and I didn't really understand how many cuts I was supposed to make. Can someone re-open the cut player option for me before the draft, I'm locked out rn.
